Richard, I am a 72 year old, old fart, that has gotten back in to woodworking after many years of being away from it. I watch you videos religiously. You are a very good presenter. I enjoy the straight forward approach that you use and the fact that you are truly interested in teaching people and sharing your experience. Thanks, truly appreciated.

I ordered the set (glue and accelerator). I probably could have found it locally, but I wanted to support the channel because I've learned a lot and will put the knowledge to use in rehabbing a rental. I was surprised how fast it got here: 3 days from Texas to Maryland! Great customer service!

I can attest to this stuff! I got some about 6 months ago during our renovation. I used it to glue trim together so I could nail all my trim as one piece. The advantages to this are awesome. Your 90 degree corners won't Crack and you won't have any gaps either. It just makes trim work a lot easier and better looking!

Great video. When I came home from overseas on my second tour I think in 75 we heard about this stuff called super glue. One day we decided to get some of this magic glue. Went to a bar outside Camp Pendleton that we liked because they had Lone Star beer. Not sure if they had it delivered or had it shipped from Texas. The owner was from Texas so I guess he was homesick for LS beer. Anyhow, we had this new stuff and just had to use it properly. When fixing to leave we glued some long necks and change to the table so we could enjoy watching the bar maid try to get the money and bottles off the table. I’m near 70 now and I’d still like to do that again but the doc won’t let me have beer and here in Montana our barmaids carry guns. :)

Exactly why I watch..... Ya turned me on to this glue a 2 years ago on your curved stair rise raised panel job and I ordered it up and started using it. This stuff is absolute gold. When trimming out some Kitchen crown running at $140 a length, this stuff is absolute magic. Pre assembling the tight turns and inside miters without all the pin-nails is super work. Once ya use it, you'll never work without it. I'm into carpentry 30 years and still learning better techniques. Great video work, real fine. Thanks madman!!

I love this glue and I am always looking for something to glue with it. Sometimes I'll try to glue something that you don't think would hold together with any adhesive and it always works. That being said, I've never had to hold anything for more than a second-literally. It's instantaneous when you put the pieces together. I buy my CA glue from the local Rockler store close by where I live and they carry a great selection of CA glue, CA glue de-bonder, and this really awesome CA glue bottle assorted tips and special replacement caps that the tips attach to. For $25 bucks I can get the glue, activator, de-bonder and the tip set. The bang is definitely worth the buck as far as this adhesive goes. Also Rockler has some bad-ass tools and jigs that are worth a look. FYI- always make sure to clean your CA glue bottle after each use! You'll see. Cheers

just being curious, how's that home advisor gig working out for you? I was going to sign up with them when I first started my own business 4 years ago but after I got a few jobs under my belt with my name on them i've pretty much been busy since. They still are hounding me though trying to get me to sign up with them since there isn't any one in my area (west Tn) that does work for them so I was just curious to how legit they really are. I would consider training a crew just for H.A jobs if it was worthwhile. Just a little advice, don't underbid yourself just trying to get the job, try to beat competition while doing better work than them. You won't make much $$ in the beginning but once you have several quality jobs under your belt, the work will start coming in. Word of mouth is how I get 95% of my jobs, running my mouth is how I get the rest lol. Also, continue watching this guy (dfw) because he is one of the best in his area just from the videos i've seen. I'm 32 and 4th generation builder and I grew up around residential and commercial construction. I've seen some good and a lot bad, this guy here, pretty damn slick at what he does no joke. I'd love to work with him for a week or two just to see how much I could learn from him in a field that I'm already a seasoned pro. Remember, just because you know how to do something, always stay open minded and watch what others do. Never know when you might learn something. Good Luck!! D.M. @ Full-Time Carpentry

    • @ItsAdventureTime1
      @ItsAdventureTime1 Před 7 lety

idk, word of mouth is getting harder to come by if it's not on a 4" phone or tablet screen. I recently hired a general contractor that was recommended to me from a family member and he has been garbage. I hired a tile guy through HA to re-tile a shower and he was awesome! The experience left me with the impression that I could just become my own G.C. and hire everyone through something like HA, save money, and get a better end result. Just my personal experience... I'm one guy with one house so I could be wrong :/

nice video. I am retired from the building trades, I used that type of glue for the last 15 or so years, I liked/used it a lot, I glued my fingers together more than once, do not panic... there is a cleaner that deactivates the glue. I also have done elevators cabs and commercial kitchens, we used a lot of stainless steel on the walls/counters, the glue works great on S/S and other metal, only used it on flat areas. Richard, perhaps you will also make the cleaner available. I occasionally still used the glue. watching your video, I see that I can be more careful with my fingers.

I use it under a different name brand and it is amazing. When I need a little extra time for allignment, I will glue it, align the pieces and then spray the activator. It is thin enough that it will wick into the joint and work. I generally leave a little extra time for curing when I do this.

  • @krehbein

I use CA to glue up my window trim, then nail it to the wall as one piece. Makes for super tight and clean joints.
Glue I use (bought it at Woodcraft) is slightly runnier. With pine I have to glue both ends to make it strong enough. I think you see the same thing in your video, that pine is the weakest.
PRO tip- While holding your pieces together for a few seconds move them a bit so they don't become glued to the wood!

dust both surfaces with sodium bicarbonate, blow off excess, it acts as an accelerant. If the humidity is below 20% CA really slows bonding, lightly moisten surface to get bonding. also true for PU poly urethane glue and foam.

I use it in the airplane hobby but will start using it on trim. Where do you get yours? I have found it the cheapest at a locally owned high end contractor store. Mann tool and Supply

You can prevent the super glue from drying in the tube by storing it in the fridge. I have some that's been there for many months that still flows fine.

That is the recommended storage for super glue, some comments above state that it's the same as super glue.

Works good when your cutting old wire off a spool with a cutting torch and when it springs off and burns a hole in your leg and wont stop bleeding so i told my buddy to grab this glue and the kicker and put glue on hole first then the kicker and instant band-aid and back to cutting after cleaning puddle of blood up. Needless to say i ruined a pair of socks and pants from blood. Oh and it was an 1/8" hole
