What happened in The United States, I never heard of him until just recently and he is even my age. He was never put out there in the states and never saw him in any shows during the 60's, 70's 80's. I love his music and songs.
Admittedly, growing up in Kansas, we didn’t hear much Shakin’ Stevens when I was younger. I was familiar with “I Cry Just A Little Bit”, but that was it.
I first heard this a year ago and found it to be a sweet, feeling-good type of tune.
What a lovely man, bless him.

@@LaPtiteAnglaise 💯 There are often silly myths that Shaky makes £750,000 and upwards each year from this song!!! Couldn't be further from the truth. He's lucky if he gets £10,000 whilst Bob Heatly, who wrote the song, pockets around £130,000

It's interesting how in just about every other interview he states how he doesn't like any of his older hits and doesn't want to sing them anymore, he says how it's all embarrassing and very much of the time and doesn't really want to talk about them.
This being the only exception due to making him regular royalties..
His other big Xmas hit " blue xmas" which was released as an ep was very well played on the radio when it was released yet is never played at Xmas time anymore

I appreciate he's 73 now but he's now looking and sounding more frail than ever. He also seems confused at times. I'm not a hater, I was a big Shaky fan back in the day but his best stuff literally ended with Merry Christmas Everyone in 85. Ironic how he mentioned Status Quo, coz it was on the chat show hosted by Richard Madeley, with Francis Rossi & Rick Parfitt as guests too, where Shaky seemed like he was off his head, literally attacking Madeley.
