  • In the time when every theater, new or old, in city of Bareilly is equipped with digital projection facility, Jagat Talkies keeps with its old tradition. Jagat Talkies, in Bara Bazar, was inaugurated in 1954 and the first film, it ran, was Raj Kapoor's Barsat.
    I remember the days when Jagat was screening 'Jai Santoshi Ma'' non stop houseful, women use to leave their sleepers and shoes outside of the theater. It ran 100 plus days and they organised special women shows. Oh! those were the golden days of Hindi films and theaters.
    I've fond memories of watching many films from projection room, in sweating heat, when it was houseful. Memories of projector operator of Palace Theater in Allahabad, taking a puff of his cigarette leaning on the wall towards the road still make me nostalgic. Two years ago, I was told that old projectors were history as films are digitized now.
    Jagat Talkies runs old films, as they are in print and out there is a lot who appreciates old movies and experience of theater. Today I spent few hours with Veerpal, the projector operator and Ram Chandra Saxena, the supervisor. Glimpses....

    I have watched movies screening with single projector with 6 times break. When double projectors started with single interval it was a wonder.
    Old days are golden days.
    We can't forget cinema projectors, steam engines with manual signals, cycle rickshaws, horse jatkas, school bell, etc.

    प्रोजेक्टर रुम मंदिर के समान होता था। मशीन सुंदर और जीवंतता से भरपूर होती थीं। अनेक थियेटरों में प्रोजेक्शन रुम सड़क के किनारे होते थे। और बाहर लोग घंटों मशीनों को निहारते व फिल्म के साउंड ट्रैक को सुनते हुए खड़े रहते थे।

    • @prabhatjourno
      @prabhatjourno  Před 5 lety +2

      बहुत सुंदर भाव हैं, सोनी जी..हाँ, प्रोजेक्शन रूम में काम करने वाले उसे मंदिर की तरह ही मानते थे. इलाहाबाद के पैलेस सिनेमाघर का प्रोजेक्शन रूम सड़क की ओर खुलता था और देर रात उधर से गुज़रते हुए कार्बन आर्क की चमक साफ़ दिखाई देती थी.
      क्या आपका कोई नाता रहा है, प्रोजेक्शन रूम से?

    • @AmitKumar-xb5gp
      @AmitKumar-xb5gp Před 5 lety +1

      मैं भी प्रयागराज (इलाहाबाद) का वासी हु। मैंने भी पुराने पैलेस (1990 to till closed) को देखा है। गर्मी के दिनों में प्रोजेक्टर रूम की खिड़की पीछे की तरफ खोल दिया जाता था। जब शाम को सिविल लाइन जाते और पैलेस के सामने से गुजरने पर प्रोजेक्टर की बैक लैम्प लाइट दिखाई पड़ती थी और एक व्यक्ति रील को हाथ से रिवर्स करता हुआ सड़क से ही दिखाई पड़ता था। फिर हम दोस्तों में कहते इनके पास कोई मोटर नही है रील रिवर्स करने के लिये हाथ से ही काम लेते है।
      फिर 2011 में नया पैलेस बन गया। किसी PVR, मल्टीप्लेक्स के सिनेमाहॉल की तरह । पर सिर्फ सिंगल स्क्रीन का। उसमे भी मैंने फ़िल्म मद्रास कैफ़े देखी थी एक बार।

      @@prabhatjourno ...yes...!... I still remember those memorable moments of more than half an hour ,when they( the operators I mentioned) actually operated those(2) projectors n loaded the heavy weights prints n at regular time they exchange projectors within a blink of eye helped by their juniors n adjust also carbon strip levels n other technical matters including sound(stereo) n now Dolby atmos....it was excitement n thirill moments to remember even after more than 3 decades...being crazy big b fans...i was more curious to watch him from projection room how audience went wild with whistles n applaudes n more.... 👏...thanks... 👍...
