Thanks for taking time to review these. I literally have dozens of fpv cameras but only 1 foxeer that I can think of off hand and it's a great camera. Not sure why I don't have more than 1 but I'll look at them more closely for my next build
My pleasure. Let me know how you like it on your new build :-)
These videos are so helpful, thank you for all your efforts. Have a blessed day! 😎🎮🤙🏻stay up
Thanks, you too!
Gday Gal, very cool night flying, im not confident enough to fly at dusk or at night but some of these new cameras would make it easier, i really like the county side where you are at it looks great, nice to get away from the city, great work and awsome review mate.👍🛸
Thank you. I try to stay away from the city whenever I can, specially these days.
Wow, another great review. These low light cameras are amazing.
Glad you like them!
thanks for your insights, that camera from what i'm seeing outperforms all the others.
No problem 👍
Good review, I like how you set all the cameras at once haha looks cool. Tho for cat2 I really like how there's no round edges and it looks clear and good colors.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review again buddy keep up the good work :)
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Gal I've been told that some cameras aren't compatible with these mixing video receivers. I've found my caddx ratel 1 cam experiences rolling screen with both rapidmix (its extremely bad) and fusion (not as bad only experience it when the sun is setting or rising). Why do you think this could happen? Could it be the starlight function in the cam messing with the receiver tech? I'd love to know
I would probably screw in a wider a lens.. Apart from that, it looks *amazing*!
More great shoot-outs! The Cat2 felt more vibrant with the red-bias in daytime which was actually somewhat pleasant. As things got darker by the back-hoe that red really stood out and the other just felt so much more natural. Only in the very last runs with the truck in the dar did the Cat2 come into its own for me. The MT2 got pretty grainy when it got that dar, but you could make out more texture & colour, but the CAt2 had a real edge on clarity. But since I wouldn't think of this as a "film" camera the MT2 is an easy choice for me. And at the risk of sounding like a little bit of a hater now ... the Ratel had it's day, and that was many months ago! Cheers!
Thanks for your thorough input Andrew!
Excellent testing, Gal! Only you do this kind of side by side tests. Thank you!
(Now waiting for a Nebula starlight DJI cam.... hahaha)
Thank you very much!
Just watched the video. I was planning on testing the Caddx Ratel, Foxeer Cat 2; Foxeer Nano Starlight, Runcam Micro Eagle and building a quad micro mount and then using the HGLRC Zeus board with dual camera in and then trying to also include two Vifly camera switches so I can test all four cameras. Not sure how this is going to work but I can't wait to try.
I don't think that you'll be able to switch between all the 4 cameras using just 2 Vifly Switcher, as they will use the same AUX switch.
If you will use a flight controller that can accept two cameras and use the USER1 Aux switch in order to switch between the video feeds you can get it to work. I am actually thinking about implementing a similar solution as well.
@@KremerFPV I was worried about that. I know I can get the two cameras going but was not sure about more but want to test. I am using the HGLRC Zeus for dual cameras at the moment because of the reviewer special they have going. My first board from US retailer had a bad Cam1 port but RMA works just fine and reviewer pack on the way.
On a side note I have abandoned the test because I switched to digital and me buying three new micro cameras (I had two of the three above and now I see there is another Micro Eagle) was not a good financial move.
Thanks for all you do in testing you have helped me a lot. Keep up the good work.
I was going to buy a Nano Toothless 2 for night flying, but wow...that Cat 2 Micro is much better. The problem (other than price) is the weight. I was want to put in on a 65mm or 3" toothpick.
For a micro quadcopter and specially for a toothpick I suggest going with a Nano camera.
Thank you for yet another camera review and comparison. I have a somewhat rated question. I bought a geprc cinequeen, but I don't really need the HD recording, only FPV. With which camera would you replace it for?
Thanks! I think that it's a matter of personal preference and you need to consider what are the most important aspects for you when buying a new FPV camera (Latency, Picture Quality, Lens, Price and ETC).
1:56 DNR stands for "Digital Noise Reduction", not "Dynamic Range"
You are correct, my mistake.
Is it a Volvo S60 parked on the field? Finally I have recognized the car. Has paused many times, but at 9:34 I actually could identify the vehicle :-)
Hi Gal, I am a total beginner with drones. I have been watching your videos to learn something, but of course I am still confused ;) I have ordered a Runcam 5 Orange as I am interested in cinematic drone flying. I was thinking of the MJX Bugs SE, as my first introduction to drone flying, or do you have any other suggestions which drone to start with? Thanks for the advice and for the videos!
Hi Gerben. The MJX Bugs SE can be a good starting point if you want to learn your way around photography drones or practice some basic control, however if you're looking into getting into FPV and racing drones, I would start with a small micro quadcopter such as the Meteor65/75.
Could you make a video testing the Foxeer Mini Cat 3 at full night with no IR light I would love to see that
Sorry but that’s not something that I plan to do at the moment.
Cat 2 and toothless are very close and my favorite.I’ve tried JB Phoenix and it just doesn’t seem to focus like my Foxeer Predator V5.
Thanks for your input.
Gosh dangit that's a great camera
DNR is digital noise reduction not dynamic range, good comparison video though, think I'm going to pick up one of these cameras to try out.
Thanks,. Sorry, of course you're correct :-)
how did you do to connect the cameras to the computer? Cómo hiciste para conectar las cámaras al computador?
All the cameras are connected to Runcam DVRs.
Night Eagle 2 pro for me. Used it smack dab in the middle of the night and had very little issues. Tried the Ratel and it was meh, also wasnt sensitive to IR LED illumination
i like the comparison setup, but miss the "starlight" scenario: Clear sky, stars, no moon, dark ground (no houses/street lights); Is it possible to see enough ground to land?
Can't test them all, sorry :-)
It might be possible but the visibility will be very poor.
4:02 What camera are you going to replace with the Cat 2 Micro? I couldn't understand.
I am currently using a Micro Predator v4 with an IR sensitive lens on my test rig. I am going to replace it with the Cat 2 Micro.
@@KremerFPV yeah cat2 is impressive
Toothless still wins in my opinion. Excellent video.
Thanks!
hey man, love your camera comparisons in low light especially. I just bought the cat2 cause I love good low light cams. but now the eagle 3 is out.. would be interesting to see a comparison between the cat2 and the eagle 3, as they call it a night cam... any thoughts which performs better ?
Thanks man. I don't think that the Eagle 3 is close to the Cat 2 in terms of night performance.
hey, I was out today at dusk and my cat2 showed weird behavior, as if the wdr is not working right..it seems to have a problem when both the sky and darker ground is on the video at the same time... the whole ground is dark, but it shows again when I point the quad down to the ground, so it was not too dark in general. but then I fly into the ground.. it is unflyable like that.. my eagle micro does not do this. could it be the settings?
@@hallio111 Can you post some footage? I will consult Foxeer regarding this issue.
@@KremerFPV hey i THINK i solved it, as my goggle brightness was turned down alot... although not entirely sure... I'll test it further, as I noticed my stupidness:) I was glad, but still in the exact situation at dusk when the sky is still bright but the ground is dark.. with the brightness turned down in the goggles it was a big problem..
@@hallio111 Yes these things happen. At least you are on your way to solving this issue :-)
Can you compare it to the runcam owl if you have it?
Sorry I don't have it anymore.
1:55 Are you sure about DNR? I think it means Digital or Dynamic Noise Reduction.
Yes you are correct, it's Digital Noise Reduction. Sorry and thank you for the correction.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Nice revew. I do not fly fpv , but i am looking for a very light camera to install in an small RC plane. Do you have a recomendation for a cheap ( less than $30USD) , HD ( 1080 30fps) , light (
Thanks Alex. It sounds like you need a cheap security camera. You can strip down a Caddx Dolphin and it might serve your purpose.
@@KremerFPV , thanks gor your response. that camera is quite heavy with 50 grams . i am flying 150 grams foam plane and i will affect my cg. But i wil work very good on my rc car.
many thanks again!!
@@alexherrera3918 No problem, that's why I suggested to strip the camera out of its case in order to reduce some weight.
@@KremerFPV got it now thanks!!!!
Cat 2 micro - nice/ Yes i liked your videoo>:"!
I am glad you like it :-)
Thank you 🙏🙏👍🥃❤️
Any time!
What Is The Frame There You Used. I Am Always Curious to know everyone's Favorite one's! Thanks
Hobbymate Comet 5"
@@KremerFPV Thank you..
Looks great but 50$ ?
Micro Toothless has best FOV
In daylight the micro thoothless , the phoenix and the baby Ratel look good in daylight and the cat is a bit less but i still find it to be looking good but then at night just the micro thoothless the cat 2 and the cat 1 are very good and then i think personaly the micro thoothless gets pretty bad and the only ones that are left are the cat 1 and the cat 2 the rest got whiped out of the competition for night
And still i do not know what i should get
The camera i have is the foxeer falkor i thought it was pretty good but i think i need to set it up to get a better image but i have never actually done that and i can't set it up while flying of course but i can see trees very bad in sunlight mostly the branches and from a 20 to 10 m distance
I think it's maybe over saturated graas too green trees too brown
Thanks for your feedback. I will try to post more comparisons soon which might help you out with your decision :-)
Seriously what dvr do you use to capture such great fpv feeds
Immersionrc powerplay
Each camera is connected to a Runcam DVR module.
Wow thanks so much I'll look into those
Cat 2 looks great, colors are bit better than Toothless, it seems, which seems a bit too yellow, just like the Ratel. Making the colors look a bit overly bright/lively. Like it's always sunny, even though it's not. The Cat 2 seems more natural.
Thanks for your input.
The cat 2 won imo, the toothless 2 has a smaller image than the rest. The last pictures of the car you can see it good.
All day long..
Good Video ... but ...When you compare Cameras ... could you Please fly in a Straight Line ... and turn slowly ..... It's hard to judge anything when the Pictures are Spinning Around every other second ....... Cheers !
Thanks for your feedback! On my recent comparisons I've already implemented it. Happy flying!
Cat2 won!!
Toothless 2 looks the best
...in some instances, yes (like when going around the digger). The Cat2 is right there with it during the day. I think the Cat2 has far too narrow of a FOV and the Toothless is too wide. The toothless has a bit of yellow in the image. At night, the Tooth has more light, but also a lot of shimmer. The Cat's image is much cleaner.
I thinks its because it's a 16:9 cam. 4:3 option just chops the sides
Man I love foxeer!! 😀
Runcam 💩Stella no! 😒
