I really loved this video. I used to struggle so much with being on my own, that it led me to a three year long toxic relationship. I knew we weren't right for each other, but my fear of being alone was stronger, until it wasn't. Him and I had talked about traveling to California, but the relationship ended right before the summer we were planning on traveling. That's when I decided to take a week solo trip to California...and it was the best time of my life. The first day getting there, I visited Hollywood since I was staying in Downtown LA. I then made my way to the observatory by the Hollywood sign. Along the way, I met this girl and she ended up also being a solo traveler, so we went to Santa Monica beach together. We explored the pier and then I was on my own again. The other days consisted of going to Universal Studio for my first time, hiking to the summit of the Santa Monica mountains, relaxing in Malibu, and partying it up at Sunset Boulevard. I ate at so many incredible places and yes, there were moments I wished there was someone to experience these moments with, but I am so glad I got to do them on my own. I came back a whole new different person. The power of a solo trip was liberating and it opened my eyes to the levels I could explore on my very own, which taught me that I never have to keep people for the sake of not being alone. Allowing people into my life has become a choice, not an obligation and that was my biggest lesson from my solo trip. Proud of you for doing this and I really recommend it to anyone out there who has ever given it a thought.

I am currently on a solo trip in Mexico as I’m typing this. Solitude/aloneness is VERY necessary, even when you ARE in a relationship. You never want to depend solely on other people for your happiness and/or comfort. Spending time with yourself BY yourself is when you truly discover who you are as an individual. Good for you for taking this solo trip!

This makes me realise my whole life feels like a solo trip. I spend a lot of time alone and when i go out and do things alone, this is the feeling i get. It can be very inspiring and empowering. Sometimes i get into a rut and spend too much time doing boring daily things with my partner or not going anywhere new and i crave this feeling.

I loved this video because it reminded me of my solo trip that I just came back from 2 weeks ago. I kinda went all in and and flew from America to stay in Italy and Paris for 2 weeks! It was definitely scary at first because I too wasn't used to being alone, but after a couple days I found I loved wandering around the streets of Rome, Florence, and Paris alone. You get to experience everything on your own time and getting lost/overcoming barriers only adds to the trip!! I highly recommend solo traveling. Honestly if I can do it, I know anyone can!

Hi Weylie, I just want to say I totally understand how you feel. Just like you, I've been in a relationship for a long time and have become very dependant on my other half. Although it's not a bad thing, I have been feeling the need to have some alone time for myself to find back who I am as a solo person. Because I got together with him when we were really young (15), it was as if we always had each other for support. Which is a great thing, but I get what you mean on needing time alone to be comfortable with myself and to rediscover myself. My boyfriend is about to enlist into compulsory national service, so I feel it's a great chance for me to take some time to spend by myself. I've been considering taking solo trips, but have been worrying about whether I'll get bored alone or if it's safe, but seeing your video really inspires me to take a leap of faith. Wow! Girl, seeing you take chances like this is so inspiring! I’ve never done a solo trip but I’ve gone to things on my own like concerts, which is usually for big groups. But I found that doing things on your own has such a feeling of freedom and airiness.

I’ve always been alone and recently because of college always being around people constantly I’ve kind of lost sight of finding the upmost peace while I’m by myself and this just inspired me walking into my 3rd year to not lose that because while it is important for me to interact w other people and laugh w other people, there’s nothing wrong w doing things in the way that makes me feel like me. I really enjoyed the video and as an introvert I can say traveling alone can really fulfill you! It's not like I hate other people's company but I really enjoy to spendtime by myself becausesometimes I feel like when you're alone you experience everything different and kind of stronger if that makes sense. It was scary at first, but as I settled into the rhythm of the car and road, I felt a sense of liberation. There is something special travelling solo as I did my first trip a few years ago to visit my BFF who moved 6 hours plane ride across country. Being alone in my hotel room after a couple of nights made me realise as much as I’m an introvert, I actually like having the company of people. Good people, who gets me of course. Hard to find. You are blessed to have found great bunch of people to be friends with :-)

I can so relate. I use to be the person who always had to have someone with me, even if I was just running an errand or at my apartment alone because my roommate went out. I don't know what it was, but the idea of being alone just felt so uncomfortable to me and I just always craved company. Then I moved to LA for the summer alone for an internship, and then to Taiwan for a quarter to study abroad and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. I admit at first being alone felt so weird, I was very uncomfortable going out to do things on my own and just felt weird being solo. But overtime it grew on me and I got more and more comfortable going solo. I also made friends along the way so I wasn't alone the entire time, but it definitely helped me learn how to appreciate my alone time and feel comfortable being alone. Now I love having my alone time and doing things solo. I don't know if I could do a solo trip per say, because I think traveling is something I really enjoy with company, but the thought of moving to another state or country by myself doesn't scare me anymore or as much :)

i love this, i'm planning a solo trip to korea/japan and people always seem surprised to hear i'll be going alone cause it's more common to travel with others but i just love exploring new places on my own at my own pace, i think it's a good thing to be comfortable doing things on your own :)

In the beginning, I wasn't interested, but the video came up on autoplay, so I began watching it. However, I was really blown away by how much this video's message resonated with me. I never seriously contemplated going on a trip alone into "the wild," but I can see how it could be a peaceful and healing experience. I've been struggling with independence a lot, and it has also been a goal of mine to become a grounded person that's not so dependent on other people. Maybe this could be an ongoing series where you explore alternatives for building the self, but in sort of a real-time reflection as you figure yourself out! Either way, let's cheer each other on
