I gotta say Jack White and Loretta Lynn make a brilliant combo. Kudos for Jack White recognizing Loretta Lynn’s brilliance and bringing it to a new audience. I can’t get enough of this duo. Bravo! ❤
I remember first hearing this right when it came out at a pub in Seattle. I stopped mid conversation and got up from the table to go to the juke box to see who was singing this song. Later that night I went home. Downloded iTunes and bought this song as my first purchase.
I saw her in a smallish venue in Huntsville, Al years ago. One of her 3 male backup singers came up front & did this song - it was very good. The whole concert was like a Saturday night family get-together on the front porch with their instruments singing, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. I've seen the Stones, Zep, Merle, Yes, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, and dozens of others. Loretta was as enjoyable & memorable as much as any.
The difference in their musical genres, their ages and their style could not be more stark, and yet it works. Oh yes, it works. One of the best collaborations ever.
First time I can remember someone not a born Oregonian pronouncing Oregon as Orgyun. Plus love Jack channeling the late sixties feel with the whole instrumental part. It reminded me of the Doors.
I love Jack bringing back one of my mother's heroes. Grew up on Loretta Lynn. And got white stripes in my thirties. Never dreamed I'd see this wonderful moment with these two together.
I love the older country musicians alot of country is forced. Living a country life in this crazy world is not like the life of of country living back then. People were real and country music like blues has history and is built upon with each new artist. It wasnt just about cows and farms but community good stittude strength and an empathy for their fellow man. I am not one for religion but these folks when it came to christianity did practice what they preached. Lorreta Lynn is the epitome of country music. Hell she may be the epitome of all music.
Sometimes albums and their music videos are removed from digital platforms and the only way you get to hear them is if you have the physical copy or fan pages upload them! Like Ronnie Milsap's 2011 album Country Again isn't on digital platforms but thanks to the fans pages & us for uploading them. Along with Connie Smith's 2011 album Long Line Of Heartaches we had to upload. It happens a lot.
although its kind of awkward cringe them singing that to each other, it really is a masterpiece, and is similar to "jackson" by johnny cash and his lady )
No, the cringe is you referring to them as Johnny Cash and his lady. She was June Carter Cash, a bigger star than John was until after he cut the Folsom Prison Live album. Mother to Carlene Carter, mother to John Carter Cash and she was the reason John turned his life around. Without her, we wouldn't have had him.
@@augustacorns she was 72 and he was 30.. it be like singing u got drunk and hooked up with someones grandma thats all... them singing together isnt cringe .. just sing that kind of tune with age gap
This 20 year old classic sounds better than anything on country radio right now in 2024......Bravo Loretta and Jack.👏👏👏👏
This was just yesterday ❤

You realize was like 16 years ago?
@@teddyholiday8038 yes. Timeless.
She's amazing❤
Absolutely fantastic. How can one stage hold up so much talent

And, now you can't get it on iTunes.
She was beautiful her entire life, inside and outside. I know the choir in Heaven is even richer, having her now. ❤
❤ There were GREAT love to see her smile, excellent duo.
I just wonder IF………..😮

Jack gave her one last chance to really shine💯 he's the man
Jack knew she would revive his career!
So glad to see this again. It disappeared for a while and a safer video shot outside of a barn took its place. THIS is the one though. So very sweet.
Same af :)
What chemistry. The younger generation and the older generation are so compatible. And that cheeky kiss Jack. What a beautiful lady. I loved this xx
One of the greatest collaborations ever 🎵💕
Loretta was a natural beauty and little Jack was blown away with her writing and singing abilities.
The difference in their musical genres, their ages and their style could not be more stark, and yet it works. Oh yes, it works. One of the best collaborations ever.
The guitar in the beginng made me love this song from the beginning ❤
Same! And I can’t find the album anywhere.
First time I can remember someone not a born Oregonian pronouncing Oregon as Orgyun. Plus love Jack channeling the late sixties feel with the whole instrumental part. It reminded me of the Doors.
You can see how much they love each other
I love that kiss that they have threw in there just to make people wonder. Lol. What a great duet Jack and Loretta were.
FINALLY this video is back on CZcams
Thank you
Yes, finally. Have been searching for ages for this one.
I love Jack bringing back one of my mother's heroes. Grew up on Loretta Lynn. And got white stripes in my thirties. Never dreamed I'd see this wonderful moment with these two together.
Wow! My jaw hit the floor, watching this for the first time.
Love this song and performance. You can tell they are having a great time.
Unbelievably good
Country music lost an icon and a damn fine woman after Loretta passed.
This song grows on you.
Makes life worth sticking around for
❤
This video and song holds a place within the depths of my sentience.
J'ai toujours kiffé ce titre avec ces "2", y'a un truc charnel 🎶🎵
My thesaurus is useless. Doesn’t go as high as what I feel for this.
Ditto
Agreed.
Indeed
My parents always jammed out to Loretta, so it's not a stretch to hear her awesomeness right beside a modern rock legend like Jack White!
So glad they did that song

I saw Loretta at the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia Ms..1970 or 71. She has always been a beautiful lady to me, and is in a class by herself💙
Before Robert & Allison, there was Loretta & Jack

How o got introduced to jack white
☝️
Was this uploaded in like 2007 or are they just using an intentionally terribly video compression algorithm for artistic style?
Huh? Not sure what your asking but this was uploaded April 2023!
They took it down for several years it was the official video when Van Lear Rose was released and then it disappeared. Glad to see it back.
Was great wasn't in it great chemistry
Song came out in the early 00s
The 1st movie I ever saw was Coal Miner’s Daughter. I’ve been in love with Loretta’s music ever since. And this album just blew me away.
I almost can't goddamn stand this.

It’s not awkward or cringe at all. That’s you.

Grow up!!
If you see cringe issues in this piece of art you might as well go to some therapy.
It’s a fine song, but 5 o’clock somewhere lost the Grammy to this? Oof
'5 o'clock somewhere' is a boring and generic song. 'Portland Oregon' is a hall of fame masterpiece.
Bro gtfo here dude this song is way better than “Pooooooor me something tall and stroooounggg”
Amazing ❤
