this is probably the best example of one of these scale engines. it seems to have the lowest idle rpm and the best throttle response
It's very similar to its full scale counterparts from brands like Lamborghini, and Aston Martin.
It even has an actual transmission to go with it! Props to the engine builders
More cylinders more
Better
it runs super rough for a V12 though
@@jwalster9412 believe it, it costs from over 3000 dollars, 6000 whith the trasmission
Imagine this with a 12 into 1 exhaust and the gearbox on a F1 RC car. Dream build
PLEASE
Tfw it's probably cheaper to buy a Toyota 1GZ-FE
shut up and take my money!
Not a V12 but...
czcams.com/channels/X-fEgMLE56OYqEdOpyob7w.html
Or TWO engines in a 3 point hydro!!!!!🤗🤗🤗
Throttle response is outstanding not to mention the smooth operation and that sound! Need to make one of these for 1/5th scale R/C warbirds (P-51; Spitfires, P-40's, etc)...this would really be a show stopper, for sure! Very impressive, indeed! :)
Wow, that thing sounds fantastic. And that throttle response is impressive.. So smooth that it doesn't need base. Great engine..
Even at that size, the V12 tone is unmistakeable! Awesome engine! Thanks JQ90!
Just don't let Gordon Murray near it or it will sound like a bumble bee.
@@jwalster9412 He could storm the high end RC market with the T5 lmao
Proving my father was right when he said “A revving V12 sounds like a telephone book getting ripped in half.”
Pra vcs da gringa tá barato aqui no Brasil tá o preço de um carro popular
Some years ago I stood watching an idling V12. Can't remember the car, though it was either a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. What stood out was the sound. It wasn't aggressive. It didn't gurgle and spit like most all performance built V8 I've heard. Instead it was like a well engineered and maintained sewing machine. It may sound silly but that was what it made me think about, and it impressed me a lot.
Now a relative owned an offshore racer that he competed with. This was powered by two Lamborghini V12 engines and those were an entirely different animal. Tweaked to the limit of what was possible and without any attempt at a muffler that thing screamed. At idle it was ear shattering loud. Give it a blip and it was as loud as any military torpedo boat at full throttle, and at full throttle you better be far off coast or there would be a lot of unhappy people.
Turns out the average life expectancy of offshore racers is pretty low, and competing at the pro level will drain the bank accounts distressingly quickly. So his wife put her foot down and made him stop competing and sell off the boat. Well his doctors may have had something to say also as they were talking about how how the repeated belting he got while driving that boat did a number on his back, and were showing him wheelchairs talking about how it was just a matter of time...
Throttle response is really amazing. It’s obviously waiting to rev higher you need to let it rip!
Never doubt full send!
Is this beyblade?
Lack of variable valve timing and single OHC will seriously stymy high end performance.
It's nice to see bars keep getting raised with these engine models. I wish someone would come up with accessible cheap options in a L6/V8 that runs well so more people can get into this hobby.
I think 4 cylinder is enough.
@@GF-mf7mlneed more powa baby
That is one of the best running scale V engines yet! Great throttle response. That would be awesome to build a scale Formula 1 chassis for it.
I love that this engine actually uses spark ignition, oil lubrication instead of grease, actually looks like the sohc engine that it is instead of looking like a dohc engine like toyan does, and runs on gasoline instead of model engine fuel. I wish I wasn't so poor so I could buy one.
This is how they all should be
Same
How much are they,?you might be surprised
@@jamesharris3061 if you looked at the link provided you'd see what the cost is. It's not surprising, these aren't cheap. This example is nearly three grand American.
This is the way
it's really cool to see such a small v12 engine running.
Best small engine I've heard so far
Been waiting to see you run this ! Awesome as always brother
So smooth that it doesn't need base. Great engine.
The Chuan Qi Precision V12 is such a well built engine, especially compared to a lot of other ''cheap'' model engines. Super smooth and fairly low idle yet it revs up high with amazing throttle response. Doesn't sound sluggish at all, just super healthy and well tuned.
you speak like someone paid you
Ofcourse it is... because it is nowhere near cheap!! :D I got three real size motorcycles, a vintage moped and an old car wich I bought for less - COMBINED.... :D
Cheap? You can buy a *real* small block chevy crate motor for less.
@@gabrielsturdevant9700 I wish, I'd be willing to do me messed up stuff for one of the bad boys.
@@wtfiswiththosehandles You can't compared the cost of a brand new item to a 20 year old used motor. Yes it's tiny and uses few materials, but you are paying for the thousands of hours of research and design, the hundreds of hours of machine work with expensive machines and the man hours it takes to put it all together and running right.
Things also tend to be way more expensive when made in small quantities compared to mass produced. This isn't a car engine that they have produced millions off, it's a tiny little art peace that they will make just very few of.
Unreal. Sit it on it’s own velvet stand and the other components hidden underneath. Good lighting too. Absolute magic friend. Salute.
Can’t wait to see this in a car! It’ll absolutely rip! Also that engine sounds amazing
@@absolutemadchad8637 you have to build a model F1 car and have the same cooling solution, also more fuel = more downforce haha
@@absolutemadchad8637 😞 that’s a bummer
@@absolutemadchad8637 Just use a huge water pump and a big radiator and cooler
Run colder burning fuel and use a very small gocart or minibike and it would rip
@@absolutemadchad8637 According to my calculations, if you place this engine inside a freezer with wheels on it, it will easily achieve a 380mph top speed before your chicken begins to spoil.
This is awesome! We need to see an exhaust system and a mini turbo on this thing! Great video as always!
Sounds great! Very smooth!
That is really cool! Can't wait to see what you put it in.
Probably the best running engine in your fleet, and considering it's right out of the box, that's pretty impressive!

@@stefevr i want to hook it up to an alternator.
This with a proper exhaust will be mental.
The inherent balance of the V12 makes it so smooth! I wonder if they do a inline 6?
I6's naturally wanna twist themselves around, would be really hard to implement a balance shaft on this scale
@@pringle8237a straight 6 doesn't use a balancing shaft because it has perfect primary and secondary balance. You might be thinking of an I4 or I5 engine.
@@wiegraf9009agreed.
This is the exact reason that modern Class 8 trucks and busses all use straight six engines!
you can literally SEE the balance cant you. just sat on the dest running totally smooth
@@dangeary2134not necessarily, if an i6 is going to get me better performance and mpg than a V engine I'll pick that one
Easily the best mini V engine I’ve seen! It would sound so amazing with some equal length headers 🤩
Has this been dyno'd? I am curious as to the power and torque figures it produces.
I can't wait to see the exhaust manifold design. F1 😎👍🏼
A 12 to 1 header would be absolutely mad!
or a 12 to 2 with equal length headers
Awesome video Johnny!!! I LOVED watching the coolant hose in the background, pour into the tub when You went from idle, all the way to Full throttle and watching that coolant come out of the hose as a trickle, all the way to a FULL SPRAY against the side of the tub!!! Too cool!!!
I love these small engines. Have you considered making some sort of engine dyno, to test them under a controlled load?
I just want to see it have a tach.
@@murraymadness4674 I'd also like to see the RPM in real-time.
Tacho and some kind of controlled engine loading.
Congratulations! What an achievement. Now this is what you tube should be about!!
Wow that's a gorgeous model engine. It has a really nice engine note, very reminiscent of an old school (60s/70s) V12 F1 Engine.
Just what I thought!
Wow, this is my favorite engine yet, you can hear how well balanced and made it is!
Sensational ingenuity & a marvel of precision & Equals a relentless conversation piece ! “Every gearhead needs this micro V12 “ !!’
Great workmanship. Great sound.
This is absolutely epic. It’s would do well in an RC spitfire though without the lubrication system being modified, oil starvation during inverted or low g manoeuvres would wear it quickly.
Johnny, dude, this engine is screaming to be in car. It looks so much better that the other v8. It is so much more stable, smooth running and a great response. Epic is not the word for it in a RC car passing standard full size cars. please build a car for this engine.
Sounds like a mini Ferrari! Try to make a 4 speed gearbox for the V8, like make it kind of like a NASCAR! That will be epic!
Amazing stuff well done man!!!!
What a beautiful engine 👍🏻
Thanks Johnny
It sounds like a V-12 Formula 1 car. This would be awesome for like a 1/3rd scale RC car.
I wonder how hard it would be to adapt this for model aircraft use. Like a Spitfire or P-51.
I was thinking about adapting it for a boat.
I just thought about the same thing !
it weighs 4 KG lol.
@@howarddyla9676 I mean, we could make that work, just need to be a high lift body instead of a light, speedy and agile one.
Ur talking seriously outrageous. But maybe could be done.
Absolutely fantastic! Well done!
Wow actually sounds really smooth
An ideal engine for an F1 car type build :D
this is a great idea
This gets about 55% as much revs as an F1 engine so at the very least you won’t be able to replicate the sound. According to the description redline here is 11,000 RPM, whereas F1 cars regardless of age get closer to 20,000 RPM.
I love mine. It's amazing, the sound and performance is incredible
Id love to get one, but i dont have that kind of money. Thats ok, because i have more fun designing and printing compressed air engines
What's it in ? Or going in to ?
What do you do with it ,does it power r/c cars ??
Someone said this sounds like a piece of lawn equipment. That guy really has never touched grass. I think this thing sounds awesome!
The mouse that roars, hilarious! 🤣
That engine is wicked, the snappy throttle response is just unreal
Somebody needs to make a scale model of a Lamborghini with this for real
or Ferrari, even an older V12 Jaguar.
But it's not a scale model of a V12.
@@mariemccann5895 Well would ya mind telling me what it is then?
Cause the title says V12, and so does the physical cylinder configuration.
@@TheOldMates405I think the point is it's an original v12 engine design not a scaled down model of a production car engine. I mean, fair but who cares.
@@wiegraf9009 Oh righto
Poor wording but if that's what he means then fair game
Even still, could make a cool functional scale model of a Lambo
An ITB setup on this would be insane
Snappy throttle response.
Love it.
Wow !!!!
That's freaking AWESOME !!!
Sounds like an old school F1 engine. Incredible!
Time for a 1/4 or 1/5th scale dragster!! That would be a cool project, especially with how quick this thing revs! Nice engine Johnny!😄👍
With a high-rise intake, and triple carbs, of course!
I was thinking this will bring life into gas/nitro rc with some amazing new ways to make a mark on the hobby. if these small engines (v8/v12) just can get a bit more affordable, tons of people will jump in and we'll have a growing aftermarket of parts suppliers
Sounds amazing! Like a small V12!
Beautiful v12, love that sound of the engine.
Wow, that thing sounds fantastic. And that throttle response is impressive.
I wonder if it's powerful enough to replace a mono cylinder 2T engine on a moped, that would be fun :D
I bet the power is there! not sure if the strength of the internals is though...
i was thinking the same thing
Fantastic! This is very high on the cool scale.
I'd just have this on my desk running all day to stare at. I'd get nothing done. Looks like such fun 😊
That thing is balanced very well! And the throttle response is on point! Thats the one that needs to go in ur RC👍
Well it's V12, even if miniature. It's balanced by default, only a factory defects and designed precision screw this up.
Veery smooth and as others have said - very good response! Especially for a single carb. Some of the I4s and V8s have been ….lethargic for some reason but this one is working as it should.
Probably no care taken to control stocheometric ratio (lambda =1) of air vs fuel during rapid throttle angle change.
I would love to see a scale build of an Aston Martin with this! I think that'd be amazing!
Absolutely insane sound from that tiny engine
This would be a perfect engine for a model boat. I think you'll run into heat issues given that it's a scale v12 and would need a crazy radiator, but as a watercraft you can route the lake water itself as coolant the same way it's done to cool electric motors.
Too much risk of contamination there, I'd run a water to water heat exchanger.
@@233kosta yep, would be the best way. Even better, use actual coolant (yeah it's made mostly of distilled water, I know) for the radiator part, and the external water for the other. But yes, heat exchanger sounds like the best option.
@@LtdJorge Yeh, that's what I meant by water-water HE, the internal loop would probably be 50% antifreeze or at least have some chemical stabilisers. Don't want to risk blockage or corrosion.
But definitely better to use the surrounding water rather than air, it'd make the heat exchanger a whooooole lot smaller.
@@233kostaas just on a houseboat and lake water is how they cooled the generator
Nah...this engine is just a novelty. Why risk a $4000 engine when a small brushless motor would do the job for much less hassle and cost.
Sounds and looks amazing. What a masterpiece of engineering. Do you know how much power and torque it makes?
Great video!! This engine is awesome!!!
So much smoother and better running than the v8:s you have been testing.
Just think what it would sound with a equal lenght 12 into 1 header
I think most, if not all, real engines run 12-into-4 equal length headers - 12 into 1 probably reduces the pressure pulses to a level where they are unusable.
It may make a little more sense on a scale model, where the headers are extremely short and therefore tuned to unrealistically high RPMs
ACTUALLY SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD!!!
I don't ever leave comments but I just had to tell y'all great job this is the coolest thing I've seen in a while who ever built it did a awesome job.👍
I never liked that so many run on nitro, this is cool because it's probably the most realistic. Shame they're so massively expensive e
Definitely make an exhaust for that one. It would sound awesome! Would love to see it in a build!
I like the videos where you actually machine stuff like this.
That was cool and interesting to this retired master auto wrench. Thank you for the work and clean up of running it for us. Almost got to the end of video without any really stupid music, but alas you got me.
throttle response almost like F1 engines, amazing
In the old days, they used to play tunes on the engine.. this one seems to be able to do it as well.
Curious on what the total horse power and torque curve look like on a little engine like this
Not sure about the curves but I would think with it being sohc and revving to 11k, 5-6bhp and similar torque in lbs ft
@@mikeh2006
Torque is HPx5252/rpm. So torque would be just less than half of HP at 11000 rpm. So if makes 6HP at 11000, torque is a bit less than 3 LB-FT.
@paulogden7417 I just went off the theory that sohc usually produce similar torque figures in n/a engines. I haven't done any of the calculations though. Just guessing.
I would've loved a 50cc V12 Moped as a kid 😁
Very cool
Omg! I can't wait for this one. I already know it's gonna be amazing.😁
What would the HP and torque numbers on something like this be? Genuinely curious if this could move a mini Moto like a KP Mini 150
i would think its gotta be 4 to 8 HP right? im so curious also. probably very little torque though. big HP at high RPMs
I'd be curious to see what it's hp and torque is. Love the snapshot. Does it ever rev fast up
Wow the engine response is on point
This must be the coolest model engine I've ever seen. The little gear box they make seems cool as well. I'm thinking about what kind of model I would put this in...
That motor belongs in a boat.....
Now put it in a mini Ferrari
this is amazing , thank you
Wow, I am amazed at how smooth and balanced this engine is. 👍👍
The straight 6 and the V12 are the only engines that have a natural perfect balance.
A single carb for 12 cylinders is an odd choice, even for a small engine like this
Least expensive choice.
Why?
that engine sounds more like a lawn cutting implement than a v12. when these engines don't sound right it ruins the aesthetic.
You’re joking, right?
sounds like a chainsaw.
it only sounds that way because it has no exhaust manifolds/extractors to combine the cylinders
Damn... I wish MY lawnmower sounded like that!
PIN OF SHAME
That thing is AWESOME !!
Amazing! Imagine building this engine in a 50 cc bike frame...😊
The throttle response is great.
Amazing engineering!
it's beautiful ! It sounds good :)👍
Cannot wait for the exhaust system install
Can't wait to see it under load!
that is a really neat little motor. its surprising the things you can find
I'm amazed at this little engine! Sounds pretty much like a Lamborghini to me!
amazing bit of kit.
Well done. It'll be a great RC boat engine
The sound at high rpm....yeah. 🏁

Dang the trans and motor picture at the end looks so cool.
That one actually sounds like it has enough power to make a fun RC car!
