    Imagine aliens land on Earth a million years from now. What will these curious searchers find of us? They will find what geologists, scientists, and other experts are increasingly calling the Anthropocene, or new age of mankind. David Biello explains how the impacts that humans have made have become so pervasive, profound, and permanent that some geologists believe we merit our own epoch.

    I had my first introduction to the term "Anthropocene" at the inaugural meeting of the International Big History Association in Grand Rapids in 2012. bighistory.org. Many authors and thought leaders have suggested that our nuclear detonations mark the beginning of the human epoch. I've also tried to take a long view of what I termed "Mechanoevolution" in the early 2000's. I also try to take a look back at history in my new book, Zero Waste in the Last Best Place, where I observe that until very recently, the only waste humans produced were organic and non-toxic: arrowheads, handaxes, pottery, etc. My colleagues and I are working on zero waste strategies that follow the principles long touted by campers to "leave your campsite cleaner than you found it." If you are interested in joining the zero waste movement, please consider:

    we cant change its course. money matters. even though we think of saving the planet, what about the government and businessmen? all they think is business and profit.

    • @blugaledoh2669
      @blugaledoh2669 Před 6 lety +2

      One of the thing about business and profit is the productivity, efficiency, and more importantly effectiveness. It will make logically sense for businesses to save the planet as it will prolong the longevity of the human race and that of it natural resources.
      Many companies are planning on making electric car using electric or renewable energy such as the sun, hydroelectricity etc. Which make sense.
      Fossil fuel are finite, cause harm to the ozone layer and non-renewable - they too could very much profited from this investment. With compromise, we could save the planet while also satisfied the businesses.

      Blugale Doh the technology you mentioned was invented many years ago but none of it has gotten into my country. in our country no electric cars, no solar panels, corruption is everywhere. a fellow countryman invented his first motorcycle fueled by water but as soon as the government and businessmen heard it, he dissappeared. no one knows where he is.
