Well the challenge didn't say he had to *immediately* return his pieces, so he could have taken the pawn, then returned all three pieces to the start. But close enough.

I don't see how he could have avoided the checkmate with a pawn from that last position... so I'd say it should be Mission Accomplished due to inevitability.
@@moderndayvampire1469 I'm just wondering why 2000 rated opponents aren't in the game with this so we can actually see what kind of brilliancy he can pull off. I really wish you hadn't skipped to the end. This was one of your best games, the flow was perfect to keep the opponent hooked until the game was finished.
This was basically two challenges in one: a forced retreat, and checkmate with a pawn. Either of these by themselves is very difficult. Definitely one of the hardest challenges, if not the hardest challenge ever.
Gonna agree with the other people, you accomplished that challenge by going from 20 points down to an inevitable checkmate with a pawn that didn't happen due to resignation. Great job dude.
Besides that skipping at the end (instead of the fast forward), this was one of the best of your videos. Very entertaining, interesting and satisfying to watch
Gotham chess is rated around 2700 elo, and Chess simp is better than his viewers. So if Gotham chess ever viewed this video vhess simps elo would have to be at least 2800
An opponent of mine once managed to stalemate himself while having all his 16 pieces still alive. I think to repeat this masterful blunder sounds like the right challenge for you!
You didn't have to stop everything to retreat. All you had to do was have all your pieces back at some point before you deliver checkmate. Nothing stoped you from taking the rogue black pawn with the bishop and only then putting everything back in their places
I wonder what was going through your opponents mind when he went from 2 queens and all of your pieces, by all appearances, "trapped in the corner"; to both queens gone, nothing developed and on the defensive in under 10 moves
I'd say that if you could find a forced checkmate with a pawn from that position (should be possible but I haven't checked) and you say the line in the video to prove you found it then a resegnation counts and a victory too

@@iLikeButter35yeah but sadly only people with the return dislike extension on chrome will be able to see those dislikes

To be honest, still quite impressive. I think this should count as an honourary victory :)
Simply to undo, and then go on to destroy them to the point that they gave up. Yes, definitely honorary victory!
Yeah, Simp did amazing, yet failed because the opponent resigned. And I'd say that's more on the challenge than on Simp
he never said "mission failed"
impressive?
The guy destroyed himself. A vacuumwindmill would have been more efficient than him. 😅

Once you established a material advantage like this it's not hard to checkmate with a pawn.
That comeback after 21 points handicap is definitely fun to watch.
is it really? its a 100 rated who blundered A LOT, its actually pretty likely that person is a child and/or completely new to chess

a totally unique game of chess no one has ever played before

From that position checkmate with pawn was more than possible.
Not only possible, he can already premove a forced checkmate with pawn. Mission accomplished.

He could have taken the queening pawn first before retreating every piece home, but it was more fun this way

You just had to make another queen out of your pawn, because it's still a pawn, just very advanced one😂
Good thing you revealed the challenge that early. That could have been even worse.
