- In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to install a fresh and clean copy of Windows 11 on your PC. A clean install means that you completely erase the hard drive and apply a fresh copy of the operating system to your computer. Why would you do this? When you upgrade, some files might get left behind, maybe you have a virus or malware, or maybe you bought your PC Dell or HP and it came with a lot of bloatware. Whatever your reason, it's quite easy to do.

Thank you! I had to do a clean install to remove the developer channel software. I unenrolled months ago but couldn’t figure out how or if I could even get regular windows 11 back. Now I did and my screen stopped flashing green screen lights. It was brutal! Thanks a million. I always come to this channel when I need something and there’s always a video for it lol. Thanks
After watching countless videos of having to, "clone" the disk drive, I found your video and it was what I needed. Simple, free (because it is done right on the computer's OS/BIOS/Windows Download), and I was able to make my SSD the primary source and my HDD second.
Subbed and liked. Looking forward to all of your videos.
This is super easy to follow. Thank you ! 🥰
Just found your channel like a week ago, and it's been informative! Your pronounciation of words is on point too! Love your channel so much
Thanks man keep going 😊😊 I will support you 🙂
This channel is like the STOP & SHOP store for almost all my Windows and Microsft needs. Thanks mate.
this guy's voice cant gets any clearer. explained very easily too
Thanks for this and CONGRATS for 1M subscribers!!!
Thank you for the content! I needed a refresher as I am wanting to change out what M.2 I'm using to boot my OS from
Thanks, simple and well explained all I need !!!
My Win 11 cannot boot and I resoted it with ao mei backup per I'm glad I backed up my system in advance.
Normally my fiancé is the one that handles this kind of stuff for me once I back up my vital/precious files. But seeing how its 2:30am (at the time of this post) I did not want to disturb him. Luckly this video was present to help. The instructions were clear, simple, and very easy to understand. Well, done sir, keep up the good work. I have already watched this video a few times to actively study/memorize the instructions for possible future reference.
I took Kevin's advice and performed a clean install of Windows 11. Wow! What a difference. Previously I performed an upgrade to Windows 11 from within Windows 10, and it was not an enjoyable experience. My CPU used to run at 100% all the time, disk drives were constantly working, Netflix app crashed twice, even after reinstalling it. With the clean install of Windows 11, all that went away. Windows 11 is actually a great experience for me now, and the cherry on top is that Edge 95 has the same menus as Windows 11, which makes the experience even better. I'm sold on Windows 11 now, thanks Kevin!
Yeah I went from windows 10 to 11 and it’s very slow for me. Going to do a clean windows install. Hope it works better
Hello Kevin. I tried this product key command with Win11 and it didn't work. But, I checked and the system says my license is active. How do I know my product key on Win11? Is there any command like this? Thank you
Thank you Kevin, you motivated me to install Windows 11 on my SurfacePro7. I manage multiple domains and the new WIndows Terminal is a life-saver (each tab in connected to a different domain and I labeled each tab). Love your videos, keep them coming
Thanks for the video, this is really useful! :-)
THANK YOU for putting the command in the discription!!
I needed it too!!! Thanks! :D
Thank you so much Kevin 😊
Thank you! I just needed this...
Heads up for anyone doing this in June 2023 onwards. You no longer need to download the setup onto a USB stick; instead, everything is created on a file which is then executed from your homepage. Also, creating the installation media is different (and more annoying) than presented in this video, so be ready for that as well.
Otherwise, great video! Really helpful in getting rid of the obnoxious HP bloatware off my laptop.
ty
I was wondering why my installation is going differently than what's on this video.
Thankyou so much it really help me a lot!😭 I'm really new with how to install os or what. This one is very specific and very easy to understand the steps. Thankyou again! I already subscribe to your channel. Hope more views to come!😁
Thanks Kevin. Very good to learn
You just got a new subscriber Kevin thanks to your skills, l now own a fresh copy of Windows 11 in my HP Pavilion thanks again. ❤️👍
Note: If you're doing a clean install and you don't have an Ethernet port, you'll need a lot more information regarding your wifi drivers. Your drivers must be available on your clean install source, and you'll have to install them via command prompt. If you have a wifi adapter, use that to connect to your wifi. You can't do much beyond installing windows, without an internet source.
Thank you very much for the video!
i believe there’s also a command prompt to skip the wifi setup
bro can u help, I skipped the wifi setup with cmd but I have no wifi option on the clean software
so many options usb tethering mght help
This is a great tutorial but the way you seemingly force your smile is really funny to me 😭😭 ty for the tutorial :D
Very clean instructions! Thank you :-)
Thanks for this, i didnt know what to do with different drives or if i wanted to install new ssd if i could install clean windows onto that. This looks super easy. Excited to optimize my out if the box laptops!
Just deleted 4 years worth of songs. Because I installed to the wrong drive. That was my 13th reason. 😢
dude's instructions are honestly really vague. rip
@@johnny_sins_himself
The instructions were fine, wdym?
If you selected the C drive it should be in a file called Windows.old, I'm not sure what happens if you select another drive though.
A bit late, but you might have a restore point that will revert to a few months. Always create one before installing a product and double back up your creative content. Most important, on an external drive that you unplugge and won't die the day your PSU ou motherboard have an issue. Learned that the hard way years ago. I feel you!
I Did The Same Thing In Like 2015 -2016?
I Feel Your Pain My Dude
Hello Kevin Stratvert...
My laptop is having all Windows 11 requirements needed. But while doing a clean installation it shows disk partition problem. Is there any way that issue is solved for windows 11 clean installation?
I was looking for this and you uploaded it you are a mindreader
A good heart listener also.
A Million Subs !! Congrats Bro
Hello Kevin,
I bought an Asus PC that comes with windows 10, but I upgraded to windows 11 and I joined the insider preview (dev channel) after that. Now, there is a lot of bugs and a numeric pad in the touchpad isn't working anymore, the caps lock light not working. I just wanna know what should I do to get rid of all that and get back my windows 10 or a stable windows 11, I liked windows 11 but not the preview version, should I follow the video steps? Thanks!
Thumps up kevin this is helpful for my pc thanks for sharing this video..
You are definitely a superb teacher! Thanks for this!
One other thing Kevin in the past when I've upgraded from an earlier version of Windows, which I would not want to go back to the earlier version. I have actually raised the drive petition which holds the recovery petition. I was meaning, which helped in my opinion, to run the computer better looking forward to your next video
Your videos are so helpful. Thank you so much for sharing them. Your instructions are so clear it is so easy to follow.
all i needed this video for was because my bcd was corrupted, and i needed something to boot into to repair it. with this guide i was able to boot into the usb, repair the bcd, and finally access my os again
tysm :D
Wow, you save my day Kevin. Godspeed.
Kevin, I did the early windows insider Win 11 dev sign up and have been running Win 11 home with only a few glitches and I just installed a new update. When I go into Windows insider today, my only option is to upgrade from home to pro. No choice to get the regular Win 11. How do I do that or should i just continue on the Dev 11?
Thanks Kevin. I followed your clear instructions and installed a clean copy of Windows 11 on my Lenovo laptop which initially had Windows 10. The only issue I had was how to get the computer to boot from the USB stick on which I had the installation media. The Esc or F2 key was giving me a strange menu from which I couldn't get to change my boot option. I escaped out of it and saw instructions on the Lenovo site. You have to press the Windows start button and select the power icon, when you get the options to shut down or restart, first press and hold the shift key down on the keyboard and then select "restart". Now you get an option of where to boot from when you restart. This worked and I'm not running Windows 11.
Yeah, that’s the trickiest part. Every manufacturer has a different key to enter boot options. In Windows settings, you can also set your computer to boot from usb, which is a little easier.
F2 takes be to a setup menu, but if you use f12 instead it takes you right where you should be and should see you usb
Yes thats (the start-shift method) how it is for all devices running on windows os and the eaisiest way if you dont know the actual key.
I tried this, but there were no drives available when I reached the custom set up option.
Hey, can you help me? I have both internal ssd and hdd in my laptop.if clean install windows then will the hdd drive also get formatted?
Hi Kev! 👋I've got win11 dev version from insider. In the insider settings, on stop getting preview builds says if you want to unenroll the device when the next version of Windows is realised, you have to be on beta or realise preview channels, but I can't change from the dev channel. If I change to unenroll this device immediately, this option will erase all my data and install a fresh copy of win10. I want to stay on win11, without reinstall all my apps and programs and of course without receiving preview builds. How can I get this?
I have insider preview build(Build no. 22000.194), I haven't got official release in my settings. Or I am already on official build?
ladies and gentlemen, the original voice over voice.
This is a great and clear tutorial Kevin!
Thanks, Kevin; your delivery of speech is incredible! Keep it on.
I didn't know that we can clean install in windows 11 thanks a lot Kevin 👍👌

I'm pretty computer-literate, but my experience was anything but simple. When running the Windows installation media from my flash drive, it paused a few steps into the process because it needed a driver. I googled that issue and eventually found a solution on HP's website. But HP's instructions for downloading the driver were inaccurate (of course). So I spent lots of time figuring out a workaround. Finally I was able to put the drivers onto the flash drive (along with the Windows 11 installation media) only for the process to run into yet another snap when it said it couldn't install on my hard drive. Again, google to the rescue and I ended up having to delete the partitions during the install process. After that, smooth sailing. I don't know about you, but my experience is things are typically never as simple as CZcams how-to videos make them out to be.
Same
Hi Kevin. If the disk has partitions (. In which one do I have to install Windows? ) The partitions type are: System, MSR, Primary and Recovery. Thank you in advance.
Congratulations on 1M :)
This a great video, very short and straight to the point with good illustrations. I think you can also inform your viewers to probably take note of their bitlocker code before install. I had an annoying issue with that but on second thought for a clean boot knowing the bitlocker key code will not be necessary😅.
how is it great? He left out the vital info about how using a usb erases all the data on the usb. That erases peoples personally info that they probably wanted to keep.
Hi kervin please is it necessary to upgrade your w10 to window 11 if your system is compatible; and can you install it if you don't have a product key?
It's nice to partition your disk after installing Win 11, partition assistant can handle this perfectly.
Thank you, you are life saver!
Kevin. Thanks for another helpful video. There is one caveat regarding finding your Windows product key using the Command you provided. This command only returns the computer's Original product key. If you have upgraded Windows to another version - Home to Pro - it will only give the key for the Home version of Windows.
For example, my laptop came with Windows 10 Home. I later upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. Running the listed command only returns my original Windows 10 Home key.
I use Belarc Advisor to get the necessary information (along with a huge amount of other system info). It provides the key(s) for every version of Windows that has been installed on the computer.
I tried Belarc and it returned the diagnostic key, not the original product key. The Emergency Boot web site has a decoding utility.
I love your videos, Kevin.
congrats for 1m subs❤🎉
Thank you for this excellent video.
I have a lot (five of them) partitions created by windows on my drive. How do I erase all of them, and still be able to select the drive itself (like in your video which only say Drive?). Should I just delete partition after partition (yes backup is done), or is there a better way? =)
nice hard work you do.
I am moving from am4 to am5. I have windows 11 currently on my m.2. Do I need to wipe that m.2 before I boot into my new setup? Or will the clean install replace the older version on that m.2? How do I do a clean install when my m.2 already has windows 11 on it?
Quick question, so should i update to windows 11 or wait (my pc is capable but they say windows 11 is buggy so wait)
Keep going Kevin, you do the best every time 👏🏼
could i just unplug my other drives to prevent myself from removing any data from doing a reinstall of windows and deleting partitions and stuff off my D and E drives for recording/editing/games?
Having upgraded to 11 from 10 on a new HP PC, I was having issues downloading updates and core isolation not working (with no incompatible drivers being listed). Having done a clean install and being brave enough to remove all the preinstalled partitions during, my PC runs as it was meant to. Thank you!
did your data safe or totally wiped out?
@@HannanIrfannyou can pick if you want to wipe it out or keep files
Yes late windows 10 updates and goinf to 11 seems to cause problems for alot of lower end computers. Even just a factory reset with deleting everything but windows end up making the comouter operate better. But ofc a clean install is sooo good
I upgraded as well and my pc has just been dying for like a year. Hoping this is gonna work:/
Is it not possible to clean install from the windows update app itself? because I have got the notification that says windows 11 is ready for your computer. Does it give any options to remove all data and upgrade to windows 11 or do I HAVE to make an installation media?
So I have windows 11 currently installed on my SSD. I’m getting an NVME drive soon. Would I follow these steps and when it shows which hardddive to boot to do I format all the other drives so it removes the other windows 11 on my old ssd?
i got a surface pro 7 from microsoft a year or so ago and it has had an issue with downloading/booting apps, i cant even use good because when i install it the app wants to open but for some reason stops and closes and this happeneds for any app some work or some do that and even apps that originally worked sometimes get the issue after an update i dont really have any files that i care about so would resetting my windows like this fix the issue?
Hi Kevin, getting the product key with the cmd wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey
Does not work for me as it shows nothing. I think because it's a Digital License of Win 10 ?
I can get that from logging into Microsoft Acct.
I like others did an upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11 and it's ok for the most part but feel it can be better and that I would benefit from a fresh install. But I have an issue now where the Win 11 upgrade is causing an error on (restarts) it shows that "an Operating Sytem is not found". This has me forcing a power off and power on (which I am aware is not good). If I get the message on restart, I try ctrl, alt, del but it does not work and Bios is pointing to the correct (M.2 Drive where Windows 10 was before the upgrade).
Does this mean my MBR is corrupt ?
I would like to do a fresh install but am afraid of losing everything ?
Any hints or knowledge Tips greatly appreciated.
Ty

After creating the installation usb, and restarting my computer I hit the ESC key to go to the boot menu. The option to boot from USB was not available at first so I had to change the boot order, disable the secured boot option. I also had to get by bitlocker id from my microsoft account. That seemed to work to get me to the Windows Installer menu. However when I'm there I don't have a mouse icon, I was able to use they keyboard to go through the menus, but when it asks which drive to install on there are no drives available? Any suggestions?
I’ve been building PCs for 20yrs and yesterday I started updating a couple W10 PCs to 11. One of them is and was kinda reacting sluggishly so I created W11 install media, popped in a fresh NVMe boot drive to do a clean install on. I went through all steps exactly shown in the video and where the video stops is where my issue is. It installs onto my boot drive via the usb media and then wants to restart. Normally that’s where you unplug the usb and let the setup occur on the new install boot drive. Well bios detects no Windows Boot Manager on this new install. Done it 3x and only my original boot drive that is still installed shows boot manager. The drive I am doing the install on has no boot info on it. Help?!
I have a windows 10 laptop, I want to use this product key from the laptop and fresh install windows 11 on my desktop PC. If I do this, will this render my windows 10 laptop obsolete? I.e desktop will work fine, but laptop (windows 10) will no longer work as the product key has been used for the desktop, or will they both be fine? Thanks
great video as always
Hi great video, I’m stuck where you finish installing windows media file to usb and after I restart pc and press f2 I can’t find option to boot it from usb
Best video ever! Thx👌👌
Hi kevin, I wanted to ask how I can clean install win 11 if I am on dev? pls help
Great video tutorial!
how about license for previous pre-installed office? will it gone? should I buy another office license or I can just activate by email (or another way)?
Hey kevin, can you please do a tutorial on vmware player 16? Your tutorials always work the best!
I have a question
If I choose "nothing" option to install a clean version of windows, everything will be deleted, right?
But where? Just drive C will be formated? Or my other drives will be formated too?
Ty great video!
Thanks Man. I’m upgrading cpu and mb and didn’t know if I had to manually erase my m.2 drive before starting a clean install. I knew it deletes everything but didn’t know how that would work with a ssd with windows on it.
Congratulations bro, 1million ..
what is I can't see any drives in a boot mode? where I choose where to install. There is no devices in a list. and even I choose browse I can't choose the disk c. also is this about home or pro? is any differences for a pro version?
Kevin, if you were resetting your computer and it got stuck and eventually crashed, can you install a new copy of windows 11?
Did not work. Copying "wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey" only brings back a blank space with "OA3xOriginalProductKey" (just like in the video). Where is the Product Key??
is my product key OA3xOriginalProductKey? its not what I was expecting
Nice video. I put in the line for the productkey and it left it blank. I have a legal version of windows 10. Please advice.
Hey can you clean install windows 11 even if your computer checked and confirmed not supported.. I have 4 years old laptop HP running window 10. What is your suggestion.. Thank you in advance
when i try to get my key, i get this in cmd: 'wmic' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
i tried both command promp and command promp (admin)

Hi Kevin , I very like your tutorial I learn a lots on that , I need your help , please can you show me how to re set my user account control on window 10 , every time I try to open the app they keep showing like : to continue enter an admin user and password , it's no yes button for me to click , I look up some youtube video but when I click re-start to go to safe mood but they do not work at all is just black screen all the time , can you show me way how to fit this , Thank you . Phil
So, I selected the wrong drive.. my 4TB external hard drive. It's been formatted when this was downloaded. Any suggestion on if its possible to get my data back after doing this? Thanks.
Followed everything step by step. When it installed W11. It took me into bios with a “boot failure detected” screen. Now idk what to do. Someone on Reddit “make sure boot mode is UEFI in bios” but when I check the boot section in BIOS I can’t even find anything that says UEFI 🙄
Something bad happened.
After Installation the Internet drivers weren't there, I skipped the pick a WiFi Section by using the terminal because there was no option to pick any. After Installation I still couldn't pick a WiFi and the WiFi options didn't even show up. After checking device manager, there was no Wireless WiFi driver even in show hidden. There were yellow warnings in multiple PCI drivers and Network controller. How do I fix this?
Kevin could u please also make a video like this for the pcs which are not compatible
