Dragging Upon Leading: How to Fix it with Kalley Krickeberg & the Horseman's Halter

  • Does your horse like to drag when you lead them? When it comes to fixing a problem, you either need more knowledge, a new technique or you need a new tool. Follow along with Professional Horse Trainer, Kalley Krickeberg, on a couple different ways to fix the problem of hanging back on the poll upon leading.
    Kalley uses a stick and string in her first technique to put pressure from behind to keep the horse from pulling on the poll of the halter. The stick and string is not an ideal tool to carry around to use in any given situation. This is where the Horseman's Halter comes into play.
    The Horseman's Halter with a Sliding Ring has a slipping action or a slip chin piece. This is for training purposes only. Squeeze down on your chin piece and ask for a trot. This allows to have a little bit more help and pressure to avoid dragging when leading your horse.
