2024 NC STATE GAMES Color Belt Sparring; 3-Round Fight, Junior Division

12-year old Oliver's first fight at his first tournament. Fighting under WT (aka WTF) rules: most punches don't score points, no punches to the head, no kicks to the legs; jumping/spinning kicks score higher. The 'Gamjeong" the ref yells once in a while is a penalty - for normal things like face punches or low kicks, but also for falling down, stepping out of the ring, not pursuing the fight, excessive contact and crying - all point penalties.
Considering that we normally punch heavily and spar with head contact, the one-event switch over to WT rules was hard for him, but he picked up on them quickly once the fight started. Mom was smiling!

Lets just stop and start the fighters where ever..It doesn't matter right?? While were at lets ignore the punching part of tae kwon do which translates to "Art of kicking and punching"...But just to make it seem like we know what were doing, be dramatic and mutter when you break, and make penalties up. I smell money! PT Barnum was right!
