      I just think anyone that knows Shawn or knew Shawn knows what he really is, Shawn may have grown up and in his old age became wiser and more humble but there’s probably a lot of caveats to that sentiment that suggest otherwise. Maybe it’s something to do with his crocked eye that made him a bit more self aware, suddenly Shawn isn’t the same Shawn anymore and it reduces his confidence, which naturally makes you more ‘humble’. I have no idea if he’s a much better person now, but something tells me he’s still a dick at heart, and the people that have that opinion of him have every right to think that based on the general consensus on him

    It was through the help of this A&E Biography that I finally got to put a childhood mystery of mine to bed. When I was about 7 or 8 my mother had taken on a weekend job at our apartment complex's office. Every Saturday she'd show potential renters their model apartments and whatever. I had been hanging out in the office with her when a lady who was wearing all black from head to toe, dark black hair and high heels. Hair and makeup like super 80's, as if she was going out on the town that night. I was minding my own business, playing in the floor, when she mentioned to my mother that she was actually procuring the apartment for 2 professional wrestlers. I immediately perked up and started asking her all kinds of questions. Obviously I asked who they were. Now I didn't remember exactly all these years. I had always thought she told me that the were the Midnight Express and this is where it would get me confused as I always wanted to find out more about it in my later years. I've told the story many times but never knew for sure and I always told everyone I was sure it was "Scary" Sherry Martel that came into the office that day. I mean, you can't mistake Sherry even in real life, back then. That didn't add up though. Best I could find on the internet was that Sherry seamed to have nothing to do with the Midnight Express. But I just knew it was something like the Midnight Express. I thought it had the "Rockers" word in there, maybe. It was killing me, but I gave up. Couldn't find out anymore or I just missed it. Fast forward to today when I see the A&E Biography of Shawn Michaels. Interestingly, while my wife and I are watching the documentary, I mention to her about the old story of the mystery woman who came to rent an apartment in the mid 80's. No sooner do I finish rehashing the story, they get to the part on when Shawn and Marty team up and are called the Midnight Rockers. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! That's it, I screamed, that's the name that I got screwed up all those years ago. Everything started to fall in place like dominoes. I immediately went to Google and as I'm looking them up they are just about to show Sherry as Shawn's manager. WHICH I FREAKIN FORGOT. DOH! I'm reading the Wikipedia info and listening to the TV at the same time and everything is now settled. TV gets to the part where Shawn and Marty are heading to Birmingham, AL. Now I know that this is them. Turns out it was Sherry that day. She was the sweetest woman and very kind to me. Patiently answering all my questions and also destroying the idea that bad guys are actually bad guys. She told me they were all really sweet and the bad guys and good guys hung out with each other. I was appalled. This cannot be. It's like telling a kid there's no Santa Claus. Thank god no one ever tried that with me. It turns out that I was living not but a couple miles away from where Sherry lived and passed away at. I never met her again though. Anyway, I remember the name Marty Jannetty all these years as well but wasn't sure. I met him and Shawn when they moved in. I actually new who they were because ESPN had just started showing AWA matches and I never missed them. Interestingly, the one persons name I should have remembered is Shawn's, because it's almost my whole name. Maybe because it was so like my name, that's why I forgot, but I'm very happy to finally be able to tell this story correctly, with the proper players. Sorry for the essay. I'm Shaun Michael.

    To answer the question "can a leopard change it's spots?"
    Absolutely, as long as the leopard doesn't like it's reflection. That's always the first step in changing yourself, seeing that something's wrong. I know I'm not the same person I was 2 decades ago, nobody should be the same 20 years later. It's called change, it's called character evolution.
    And even though I'm no religious man by any stretch, I'm happy it's what Shawn needed & I'm damn proud of the man he's become.

    • @TheKrossRoads
      @TheKrossRoads Před 3 lety +3

      You may be conflating two things here; everybody changes. No one is the same person they were 20 years ago, I can guarantee it. Time and experience do that to everyone. Now whether that change was drastic or subtle, for better or worse, or for long or for short, those are the real questions.
      Now, can someone change their nature? It appears some people can. However, do they really, or do they merely change the ways that nature is expressed instead? Do they simply hide their true nature better, or genuinely temper it so that it has less of an effect in their lives? Those are tough questions.
      You can take some paint and change the pattern of the leopard's spots, but that will not change the leopard's nature. It will still be a leopard. That's what that saying is trying to convey.

    • @razmatazz9310
      @razmatazz9310 Před 2 lety

      Personally, I don't think people can really change their nature. But they can definitely suppress it and try to be a better person. I think it's also important which traits come from "nature" vs. which come from "nurture". In the latter case it would surely be easier to truly change your own behavior.

Yeah Shawn just faced Diesel in a grueling match and Diesel was a heel but during their feud at that time Diesel talked about how he loved Shawn and how they were still friends despite them feuding over the belt and Razor was a face who came to Shawn's defense on TV a few times leading up to the show. So them 3 celebrating together really wouldn't have been that big of deal, it wasn't until HHH who had nothing to do with any of them on TV and was a heel came out to celebrate where kayfabe was broken and it made fans question what was up. I think that's why he was punished.
