But the show came off really bad. They would have two teams, they called them "The A-list" and the "The C-list" and every episode they would give the "A-List" all the good food, the good cars, and then give the C-List teams literally nothing to eat and make them walk to the daily competitions. It was really degrading.
Anyways, Chyna ended up on the "C-List" team on day one and I think she, mentally, wasn't in a good place at that time so doing that to her didn't help her.

I always think back to her and HHH in Beyond The Mat when I think about Chyna. The two of them were so ambitious and mainly talked about how they were always working pretty much 24/7 for the WWF. In between booking rental cars, hotels, and flights, going to the gym, and performing in and promoting Raws, house shows, and PPVs there's no room for ANY personal time, but they didn't mind it because they believed that their work ethics would be what would take them to the top. It was obvious to me that despite her ego (which the WWE did more than feed), stubbornness and bitchy treatment to some of the people in the company (which I don't condone) Joanie was nonetheless a human being with human feelings who was manipulated, taken advantage of, and hurt by others on a number of occasions. She had her "demons", yes, she often did more to sabotage her success than increase it, but she had some serious vulnerabilities that others either didn't care about or outright exploited. She was a somewhat frail, troubled girl looking for success and acceptance, found it in one of the dirtiest businesses around, and was then left out to dry. When I first saw Chyna way back in the beginning my jaw dropped, I know she wasn't a great worker, but I loved her anyway.
I started thinking about her again right before she died. Chyna is the reason I got back into wrestling, thanks to YT, and I truly love it and appreciate the business. She indirectly brought me back to you! I wish Chyna knew how many people actually care about her and she had better people in her life that didn't blow smoke up her ass.
I have the documentary saved to my "watch later" list but I'm almost afraid to watch it because it sounds depressing.
Corny, you're so right about the sleazy manager and crew, no wonder she was still so messed up. I'm just ill over this!

Jesus Christ, I was on the fence for a week about whether or not I wanted to watch the doc. I finally did and it's, unsurprisingly, 100% as hard to watch as everyone says it is. For me, the best way to describe it would be "the most disturbing found-footage horror movie ever made." The cold horror and tension that runs through it because you know how the story's going to end... not something I'll ever want to watch again, but I highly recommend it. Definitely changed the way I think about her, she seems like a very guarded soul, with probably a lot more stuff in her past than she told even the people in the documentary about. The one guy with the doc crew seemed all right but her manager and the fucking filmmaker who wanted to party with her, Jesus Christ.
