I think the very LAST thing you'd want to mention as you spray the homeowner's driveway in his presence is how FAST, QUICK, EASY, EFFORTLESS this process is. This may get him to second guess what he's paying you. Further, discussing future profits while you're working on one project suggests you're not all about completing a quality job, but are actually looking past the present project to drum up new leads in the neighborhood, explaining how your agents will canvass other area homeowners to see if anyone wants to get in on a comparably good deal. It might be an idea to rather stress the "commercial grade" quality of the seal coat, comment on the quality of the materials, how many years the owner can expect to get adequate protection, and what kind of warranty against defects the customer can expect, and leave the talk of numbers and profit until after the job is done - when you and your crew can smile and count your profits in the privacy of your truck.

Think of it this way too, he's paying the company because he doesn't want to mess with it. Yes it's fast but you're paying for a truck a crew plus equipment and insurance on the vehicle, the workers plus in the event something gets damaged. Any homeowner with a leafblower in their garage a $20 floor squeegee and eye for detail can do this. You're paying for the convenience of not having to do it yourself, the professionalism of the job and if they screw up they come back and do it for free, besides a typical homeowner isn't going to spend $60,000 for the truck, the hired crew at $15-$20/hr, 5 to 10 grand for a machine with a tank, 2 grand for a billy goat leafblower or $500 for a backpack just to do their driveway. You're not paying so much for their time as you are for their experience and professionalism and assurance that it will be done right.

If the homeowner is home they're going to know how fast you finished. A neighbor may even notice how quickly you did it and tell the homeowner, Knowing they may be amazed at how quickly you got the job done. That's not something you're going to be able to really hide. Just pricing your work with the average for that area in mind will get you enough work.

It requires two people to do neat edging that way or you can invest in our Sealcoat edger and do neat seal coat edging with one person. All you have to do is install it to your spray wand and you can efficiently edge it neatly.

    • @AsphaltKingdom

Sprayers provide better control of the amount of sealant used, making the application process more precise. With the Sprayer, the sealer coming out of the tip applies an even coat. Squeegee will consume more sealer than sprayers and are the most time-consuming. On many jobs, it will take twice as long for workers to apply seal coating by hand.

To any newbees wanting to know what i mean..... With driveway sealing I call it the add a zero philosophy if you are doing a driveway and charging the customer $500 it should only cost you 50 at the most immaterial " concentrate... If you are doing a parking lot for 2000 you should have 200 or less in sealer cost... 200 gallons of concentrate at my price of 1.86 a gallon with a 29% cut = about162 gallons of sealer 46 gallon of water makes 208 gallons of sprayable sealer for 324 dollars will cover 21840 ft² x .17 in Massachusetts = $3712... Once you get good at your technique obviously you're not gonna be spraying up by houses or by walkways and fencing but once you have your edging done and are able to start spraying it goes very fast.... We have had jobs in apartment complexes or condominium associations where we have done as many as 30 driveways in one day but we have a saying which is on a normal day working within your town you should be able to do 5 driveways by 2 o'clock in the afternoon if you are getting 3 to 500 per driveway it makes for pretty good day
I understand some people get a lot more coverage on square footage per gallon than maybe I do I like to keep my coverage per gallon at around a 100 we are using A 3/8 70° tip on 1 coat..... This is a philosophy that I use for when calculating a job I switch it around to the where I take my quote minus the last digits and gives me my rough estimate for gallons of ready mix.

If you only do 100$ perhour youre the worst of all.. 300$ per hour is more realistic
