My H. pulchripes slings (from you) are doing great! They are definitely good eaters and are so easy to keep. They are so calm! I love them so much 💛💙💛💙
Hey Michelle... Glad you're enjoying the HP's. Super happy they are doing great. Remember, you provide them a lot of heat, they will grow super super quick if that is what you're after. :)
@Urban Tarantulas I am keeping them around 75-76°F with the other 15 T's, including the P. metallica (also from you). They all seem pretty comfortable and are growing like weeds 😊
They are just so different in so many ways, I mean they are both baboons, but one is super super colorful and beautiful but solitary, but the Balfouri's are communal lol... and my heart will always have a spot for the balfouri as the top top contender. haha
Idk why you don't got more clout or whatever- smart azf, helping spread the knowledge. But also very chill, humorous and overall just entertaining. Good job 👏
Definitely in my top five fave. If we're just talking beauty, id have to place it #2 to the p. Irminia. I adore the coloration but the p Irminia is so strikibg.

I'm a need to get one of these from you my guy. Shipping cost near me has always been 40-50 and I'm in upstate NY. I've still got my slings from 2 years ago from online fresh off the fed ex jet. Such a pretty species's and its the first OW I'd chose if I could.
Looks like they are pretty docile, but I guess it depends on the personality of the one you get. If you want a female specifically, i take it you just don't buy a spiderling?
@@UrbanTarantulas they're a genus of trapdoor spiders! the slings I got are SO tiny. you'd think they were true spiders 😭 I live on disability and just got my last tax refund a YEAR LATE (from before I became Officially disabled) and I just wanted to have my balfouris 😫 including them, I have.... 27 ts (that may not sound like a lot but like.... I don't work and all lol). I just want them all. can't tell if it's cause I'm battling cancer or because I'm obsessed with tarantulas after being an arachnophobe until late 2021. maybe both lmao 😎🛹🌞
I dont see how anyone can say this is a good video on the care of an H. Pulchripes. This is a video on how to keep spiders for sale. This is for the keeper who doesnt really care about their spider and views it as a disposable goldfish pet won at a local fair. Buy it, stick it in a shoe box and toss an insect in every once in a while. Thats about all this video says. Nothing about humidity levels, water/ misting restrictions, temps other than the typical "if you're comfortable, their comfortable" bullshit, which isnt true at all for this species. Nothing about the substrate composition or cleaning of it. Nothing about airflow. Nothing about the 3 phases this spider goes through to adulthood... probably because as a seller who keeps them in a box to make money, he wouldn't have the faintest idea of the drastic changes in habits they go through and WHY they go through them. Sad.
This species honestly doesn’t need all that. That’s what he was trying to say, they are one of the easiest species to keep. They come from Africa which is a very dry and arid climate so they don’t need humidity. They don’t need any specific temps, as you said if your comfortable then your tarantula is comfortable. This statement really is true. With the substrate, you can literally use any substrate you feel comfortable with like coco fiber, reptisoil, organic top soil/play sand mixture, jungle mix, BioDude substrate, it’s completely up to the keeper on what substrate they wanna use. For ventilation, obviously with every spider they need good ventilation and ventilation is more for the enclosure than it is for the spider. You want good ventilation to prevent mold and mushroom growth. For a hide, you can use whatever you want. Cork bark, PVC, resin hides, plant pots, it doesn’t matter as long as they have a hide they can fit in, I didn’t see anything wrong with this video. The point he was trying to get to was that this species is very easy to keep.
@@tchristie5766 no you are completely wrong. I can stick you in a closet and throw food at you for 50 years - 80 years, whatever , does that mean thats really all the caring for you need? I own Several of these and I can guarantee you when I’m comfortable that’s not always comfortable for them. I live in Indiana where it gets cold and hot. I watch what my spiders do and I have a ring camera that watches one of my enclosures. During the winter they will gravitate towards the heated side of the enclosure. And during the summer they will gravitate towards the cooler side of the enclosure. I wonder why they’re doing this??? If I’m comfortable? I’m not staying at one part of my house, so why would they be gravitating and changing the location of their borough depending on the season??? Explain that to me. Slings are never seen because they’re fossorial, never leaving their borrow, while a sub adults gravitate towards terrestrial and with proper sized enclosure may have several borrows… if you live in a shoebox full of web, there’s nowhere else to go, so of course you only have one fucking borrow… I talked to a researcher, who spent a long time in South Africa studying some mammal, and he would encounter these spiders all the fucking time he never once saw sitting on a shoebox sized Web. He saw them hanging out under bushes. When you get close to them, they would run away about 4 feet to a borough, tell me is that natural behavior going to exist in a shoebox? Yeah they can live in box toss food at them and sell them. Please don’t call this “housing and care”…Yes this spider will live in a shoebox for 15 years …that’s not “care.”
So I wonder how big your enclosures are then? Do you keep all your T’s in 4 foot long enclosures or do you keep each one in a large bedroom on their own?
