My First Impressions of RemNote (Anki Fanboy)

- 🦷🧠 I am an Anki guy! I talk about how it has impacted my studying constantly, and I stick by that assertion! But I have heard good things about this software called RemNote, and I have decided to finally give it a try. In this video, I explain my initial thoughts and observations of RemNote after using it for a few days. I talk about some of the things I like as well as some of the things that aren't the best to me. You'll have to watch to see what I think!

As a pre dental student - I watch a lot of your videos! I switched from Anki to Remnote this past year during my post bacc program and sometimes felt guilty for not using anki but Remnote has helped me so much! Excited for you to explore remnote more! And im also so excited to see a dental student starting to use remnote!! :)
Thank you so much for the comment!! Never feel guilty about not using a popular study method!! The best study method is the one that works for you. If that is Anki, good! If it is RemNote, good! While one app may work well for some, it may not work well for others. I am really liking RemNote so far and I can see the merits of both programs! I think it really just comes down to the personal preference of the student and which UI is most pleasing to use.
10:59 the shortcut is shift+tab! You have to click shift+tab on a blank indent. thanks for the great video! Also, you can turn off spellcheck in settings.

Awesome!! Thanks for watching and commenting, and I do plan to talk a lot more about it! I'm currently working through our material for our first major exam and using RemNote has been a nice way to do it. This first test will be a good trial run for me!
psa: actually if you save remnote’s website to your home screen on iOS it acts exactly like an app (not just one of those regular website app bookmarks)

Not sure if you've figured out the indenting issue yet, so I'll comment here. If you want to make a new bullet point separate from what you have indented, do shift tab. On just about every software I've ever used, unindent is always shift tab.
That is definitely what I’ve been doing lately! Thanks for the comment! There are still some glitches that I experience in RemNote but there are notably less than when I made this video. To me, that signifies that RemNote is listening to the problems users are experiencing and fixing them realtime!

Awesome vid! The only question I have to ask you, is there image occlusion on Remnote?
Thanks for the comment!! There is, and it's very easy to use!! One of the things I love about RemNote so far is that it is much more user friendly. Instead of having to seek out and download add ons like we have to do in Anki, RemNote has features like IO built in! This means that it is much more accessible for beginner users.

I’ve used the image occlusion on remnote and it’s always been free for me!

@@dancingddh8063 hey there! I usually do screenshots on whatever I need then I’d drag or copy and paste it into my document. From there you can hover over the image and three dots show up on the right hand corner of your image. Click that and then go to “Generate Image Occlusion Cards”. Hope this helps! If not, let me know and I can try to explain again!

😂😂😂 The issue was that I was away from my apartment here in Memphis for a month! So I tried to water my plant before I left for winter break, but by the time I came back to Memphis after the break, it had died :/ I recently replaced it and vowed to keep this new one alive for as long as possible!

What I sturggled with righ tnow is that you cannot cut and paste stuff...so weird...I thought I was creating a flascard, but it was a note (I started using remote a day ago) and I couldn´t cut it to insert it to "the back of the card" hhhh...and there is no button I can find to "undo" something...
Interesting question! I have also found strange inconsistencies in RemNote like this! I will say, you can always hit command + z to undo your most recent action, so hopefully that helps a bit!

I watched your Anki tutorials & they are very thorough and helpful! I also watched your comparisons video and am planning to use Remnote when I start dental school this fall. So it would be cool if you could do Remnote tutorials & how to make flashcards effectively + how to study as well!

@@stephenraydentist Looking forward to your appraisal! Thanks! Im starting to Anki. I can't remember if you said if Image Occlusion is reccomended but I installed it to mimick one of the selling features of RemNote, the integrated IO. I want to learn Anki as it seems more stable and presumably the option to import Anki cards exists if RemNote matures
