June 2011: Gregory Alan Isakov performs 'Evelyn' at Miss Peapods, Penryn, Cornwall. With Ramaya Soskin Big thanks to Dreams music promotion and management
@whipy i'm pretty sure it's an effect. but damien rice does it, except he takes either a magazine or newspaper and wraps it around the mic to get a similar effect. try it.
Yeah, harmonica players use it a lot. You'll see it in the palm of their hands with their harmonica. Frequently called a "bullet" mic, its basically the top of an old P.A. microphone like they used in schools way back when.
can someone please tell me what Greg's singing through? It's a sort of mic that makes him sound like an old crackling radio, but I can't find what it is anywhere!
This song is proof he is better with that live edge...than with a polished sound in the studio. Hope he comes to Toronto.
holy shit.. that was live??
he continues to amaze me.
sounds even more stunning in his live performances.

Very nice 😊👍🎶🎶🎶🎶
Fuckin incredible!!
@whipy there's two separate mics, and either one, or both has an effect on it taking out the bass of his voice.
Green Bullet Microphone.. used for harmonicas usually but you can make other uses for it obviously.
Gregory Alan Isakov - a new voice for Woody Guthrie and Harry Chapin's America.
@whipy I think it's just an old condenser mic going through some effects. It sounds cool though.
@whipy It looks like an harmonica mic! Check em out ;)

probably some kind of megaphone mic. jack white has one installed in the side of his electric guitar :)
