    14 hours is actually very good for such a print 😮

      1 DAY AND 14 hours. 38 hours, with 3785 tool changes. Big project. Surprisingly only uses about half a spools worth of filament in the end, 582g. Turned out beautiful.

      you printed one?! I wanna see! did you get tiiiiiiiny gaps between the glass and frame in some spots?

    to your Fusion question: You can create folders in the object tree. Create one folder for each color and move the objects to their folders. Then hide all the folders except one and save this objects to one file for this color. Then unhide another folder and save this objects to one file for that color... and so on. You end up with one file per color. Draf-and-drop all files together in PrusaSlicer and you have an easy job to just assigne the colors to one file per color.

    Before doing the intersection (starting at 6:32), you can use create -> new component. And then drag the target body (body3) into the new component.
    After doing the intersection, all the parts generated will be under the new component.
    You can select the component and right click, export as mesh separately from the other parts. Later, select the multiple exported stl files and drag it into PrusaSlicer together and select "Yes" when it asks if it should be imported as a single object with multiple parts.

      My solition is simmilar. separating the colours - create a component for each colour and afterwards create the corresponding bodies within the component. Export each component separately as 3mf or step and put them together in prusaslicer. Be aware that the bodies in ps should not be shown separately, but the components should. It is possible!!! When you manage to do that you only have to assign one colour-component to the right colour and that's it! For the distortion of sketches you could try the emboss tool in fusion!...

    Dang. It really gets the stained-glass aesthetic down! I love the end result.
    I'd love to do something like this with a rose window motif, akin to Notre Dame or other Gothic cathedral. I just don't have the printer for it.
    Beautiful!

    @williamerskine6035 Před měsícem +1

    Wow! 5-star rating for your design and execution!
    You have inspired me. Have you done any flat panel 'stained-glass' designs? I assume you'd print those flat on the print-bed.

    • @CalebKraftmakes
      @CalebKraftmakes  Před měsícem

      I really wanted the complexity of the round shape for this one. I'm pretty tempted to do some flat ones. As for orientation, that would require a bit of testing. if you did it flat, the "glass" wouldn't work well without support unless you just made it really thin. Then again, it could look awesome thin!

    • @williamerskine6035
      @williamerskine6035 Před měsícem

      Yes, it would be thin. 3, 4 or 5 layers of translucent filament (layer count would determine color intensity) surrounded with an opaque filament for the 'lead' which could have a few more layers of height. Varying the layer count of the translucent panes would trick the eye into seeing more color shades.

    great video and result.
    what would probably also look awesome is printing some of these window pieces from glow in the dark PLA.
    its technically not really translucent but light gets through and the afterglow will look great.

    • @CalebKraftmakes

      its only easier in blender if you're more familiar with blender. I'm not, so it would be harder in blender for me. I'm learning it though!

    Quick question, you use low temp light bulb for this? I mean the pla doesn't really like hot places ! Tell us how it last if you use it often, thx!

    • @CalebKraftmakes
      @CalebKraftmakes  Před 8 dny +1

      where I live (most of the US) LED bulbs are the most common. Though they do still generate heat, the ones I use can still be grabbed comfortably even after hours of use. Heat isn't an issue for me. I could see this being a problem if you used an incandescent bulb

    This is the first XL video that not have stringing. I like to buy the XL tool changer more then a Bambu, but the issues with the XL hold me back.
    I saw some improvements (0.4 nozzle) but not at the level I want it to be. How is your experience? You sound happy.

    Clough42 modeled a display where he made the windows lock into its surroundings within the model. Not sure if its even a peoblem but this could prevent the windows from falling out in the future.

      not really! I know the early ones had issues. Mine shipped with all .4mm nozzles and has printed nearly perfectly since I got it. There is some very slight stringing you can see toward the end of this video but no more than I've gotten on my other printers with this filament

    Create a new component when you extrude the windows. That keeps all those bodies in one easy to access place. Edit : Just noticed this had already been suggested
