I wish you would have let us hear the noise before fixing it. I'm trying to compare it to my problem toilet. Very informative, though. Thanks for posting.
It's a variation of a hard continuous knocking, like a hammer on the wall or a hard vibration that makes the walls shake (like someone has left a device on). It's happening in my home and it's the knocking that turns into the vibration. When he flushes it at the end you can hear it vibrating still, before he decides to go ahead and do what he avoided at the beginning.
I never comment on videos. You just saved me so much money and time. Watching your video, I came to a realization that the only bathroom in our house causing this issue was in fact the most used bathroom in our home. A quick trip to Walmart at 1045 pm and $20 dollar replacement flushing mechanism was the cause. I just wanted to say, thank you for making and posting this video. Your "lazyness" made me think!
The Flapper and Valve are the pieces you replaced😊 and thanks for showing us what the shortcut looks like. I most definitely would have tried that first but now I see what the result will be. Thank you
I apologize for not making a perfect video. However, if you flush your toilet and the pipes in the walls make a noise, even though you didn't get to hear the exact sound that mine were making, you might consider the information I'm offering...or not.
I done my toilet syphon yesterday never done it before and got mini float thing instead in mine it’s really small but all the down pipe is gone and has leaks on it so will be replacing that this weekend too and I am no plumber it took me about 7 mins to drain it unscrew the old one and fit the new one and fill it all back up saves loads of money for a plumber and I only watched a CZcams video. my LG new washing machine causes water hammer or was but I turned my water pressure down and it’s stopped doing it now.
You're actually so entertaining that I watched half of the video before realizing that this wasn't my problem. lol Also, I'd like to offer an alternate title: Toilets can be spiritual, my journey to self discovery. Glad you got it. Cheers! (Edit: Well over half, actually. haha)
Will it be a problem that the water refill hose is placed above the float arm? Seems like they will interfere with each other? You probably know more than me though.
Well I'm definitely not a plumber. However, when the float rises far enough, it shuts off the refilling process regardless of the hose placement. As long as the hose is long enough to not get stretched/pulled out, there is no interference. It's been working for me with no issues. Thanks for watching!
@@wilderhomeinspections1626 good point, I guess if there is enough excess slack in the hose and the float can only go to a certain height, you will be fine. Thanks for the explanation.
Hi hope ur well wanted ur advise everytime I flush my toilet upstairs when the water rises I can hear a thud noise vibration in the wall where my shower head. Also if I open the mixer tap and dont close it gently it's also making the same noise from the shower head wall which is tiled back in March as new bathroom. Also if I open the mixer tap for hot water upstairs wether it's out of my sink or bath or shower head directly downstairs is my kitchen living room open plan I can hear tik tik noises. If I open the hot water mixer tap downstairs I can hear the thud vibration same place next to shower head in the wall which is tiled. And last but not least my bathroom downstairs the sink when we open it hardly and hot water is coming out of it. Any idea what is going on and the best solution for this as its quite disturbing. Its a new bathroom installed by a builder in march this year and new kitchen and extension. Also bathroom upstairs when flush toilet water comes up and then I can hear a noise like a vibration in the wall next to the shower head.
I'm sorry the free advice didn't work out for you. However, If you hear pipes rattling inside your walls after you flush a toilet, I'm not sure the exact noise makes a difference. I'd still recommend starting here. Good luck.
Good video, made me laugh when you forgot the filler hose, but I guess you didn’t hear me when I said something. Anyway your video is the most helpful to me I’ve contacted 2 plumbers and they both made appointments but never showed up. My toilet vibrates the pipes from second floor to the basement and inside of my toilet looks just like yours so I can’t wait until I can get to the hardware store. Thanks for making this video. Blessings to you

You can hear it after he fills the tank following putting the washer on. Only for a couple secs though.

I like the honesty. As a ranking amateur, I loved this video
🙊❤
Thanks for feedback!
Thanks for the video - this was the exact fix I needed - $16 at Lowe's did the trick!

Very helpful. I like your creative, resourceful approach!
Would have been nice if we could have heard "thr sound" beforehand.. so we could know if it was the same sound our house made.

Thank you Sir
Thanks for wife holding camera.
👍
Thank you
You should let people here the noise before and after. Otherwise good video
his caption says " u can't hear it but it's there"
👍 correct!

Ha, I like this comment a lot. Thanks for it!
Yep, I was thinking it was easier to replace the entire pipe.
Fixed my rattles!
Mine too! The screw was loose on top of the floating arm smh 🤦 just tighten it up and the vibration stop thank you !
Don't beat yourself up over it. I think most non professionals would look for the cheapest and easiest ways to do things.

How would you fix this in a condo?
The problem with mine was the floater. The floater was halfway full of water slowing down the shutoff valve causing the noise. Replace the floater.
So how did u fix it?

My best advice is to contact a plumber. Sorry, I know that doesn't answer your question. But, it sounds like that's what you need.
Step 3 made me laugh 😂
I have water hammer in bathroom wall. Boyfriend install new inside parts for the toilet. Is this the cause or other issues?
It could be, especially if it just started happening after the new inside parts were installed and the hammering happens when you flush the toilet.
Brand new toilet and pipes continue to rattle when flushing toilette
Air hammer
Well hearing the noise would've helped.
