Nice video. I just cut open a jack fruit after work today for the first time. I bought it from a Asian market here in Orlando and yes I’m friends with the Orlando Gardner 😀
Paul I remember when you planted that tree and you have invested the time to see it produce! I would have a hard time getting to decide to cutting it out since none of us know how long we have to live, sometimes we pick fruits way too early and the fruit are usually harder than fully ripe! So if you get rid of it please try to find someone who could fig it out and give it a second chance
@@FruitfulTrees I just planted it, so it'll be a few years before it starts bearing fruit. I've only had jackfruit from the supermarket so I'm assuming I'll love this one.
Here in Sri Lanka we have it for lunch before it ripens when it's seasoned we cut the pulp in to large peices and boil it and have it with a coconut chutney... This ripe one can be eaten with a bit of pepper and salt. The seeds can be boiled or even fried. The younger fruits can be cooked like a beef curry. All sri lankan recepies r found in youtube.
Good but still not as good as a pure cempedak. I used to a be a huge fan of jackfruit until I found cempedak, and then eventually marang, which to me is the perfect artocarpus fruit. Cheena still a good fruit and worth growing. Cheers
The first time I had jackfruit and ate so much that I can not stop farting the whole day…small portions at a time because too much fibre all at once can be hard to digest
Paul you said you thought the Cheena Jackfruit tree is about 6-7 years old. Is this the 1st. year producing. On average how long does a grafted Jackfruit tree take to produce fruit.

Nice to eat but take care of this fruit I can not eat so mush because got stomach ache but just burn it little one sa that you will not get stomach ache.thats is my idea if I set jackfruit .burn and smell the smoke.Good luck...
by looking at the peel/rind or skin, if the “eyes” / spindle is small, pointy (compacted) with concave form under that area most likely have too much rags rather than bulb/the meat. flat&large spindo with an convex overall surface is predicted under is full of bulbs

excited to have fruit from mine! I planted it 2 years ago from lara farms nursery, do you prune your trees often? the leaves look different than my cheena
Just got a 'Cheena' tree from Everglades, easy shipping to CA. VERY INTERESTED to see if 'Cheena' really strikes that good balance between MILE (jackfruit) and WILD (cempedak.)
My experience is that chempejacks are superior to jackfruit. Slightly stronger flavour, less latex and can be opened easier. Superior all round.

The joy of eating fruit from your own garden! Great video! 😊

Nice video. Note: it’s pronounced Cheen-uh (as opposed to Cheen-ay). Glad it’s growing well for you!

Any way you could sell me fresh seed of that and any others to a drop box I have in Hialeah to get it down to South America? We need it. Serioualy.
Paul, did you know you can eat the seeds after boiling them in salty water. Very tasty. Use a knife then to scrape the seed coat off them and enjoy.
yes. I eat a raw food diet so I don't eat cooked stuff but I know you can
When your mother tells you stay away from coca1ne so you take up jackfruit farming. The man is a jackfruit savauge. lolol

My jackfruit looks great but when you cut it it is fibrous inside with no seed. Can you tell me what the problem could be.

Do you sell jackfrut cuttings ?
Where does one get saplings of this Cheena variety? I live in India
Would you please tell us where to buy Cheena Jackfruit tree? Thank you Sir
many tropical tree nurseries have them. I got one at Love Nursery in Loxachachee. Also Julian and Lara farms Miami have it.
Don't get rid of it. It takes years to produce beautiful fruit like that.
If you make recipes with jackfruit then might the firm one be better for savory dishes?
yes but it depends on the dish you make
Do they grow true to seed? I'd love to get some seeds from the Cheena Jack fruit.
no not exactly true to see but close

Where do you buy your fruit trees ? Thank you
Where can you get that one?
Lara farms Miami and also Xains World and Love Nursery and Jack and the beanstalk
What are used to get rid of the latex please thank you
if you pick them ripe there is less latex
@@FruitfulTrees thank you 🙏🏻 💖
How cold does it get in your area? What is the coldest weather this tree has survived.?
I am in South Florida so it doesn't get below 50. This is a tropical tree and won't do good in colder weather
Cheena is orange in Dominican.
how would someone know when its green for cooking
at any point you can eat it when it is unripe
What nursery did u get the cheena? Or suggest locally
I got it from lara farms
I don't remember but Lara Farms should have it
4:10 - - - watching the latex drip!
Would you sell some of the seeds from the Cheena?
if anyone is local come get them
You can propagate it and not have to wait 7 yrs
