This whole thing really upsets me. I get that her style of music is different, and can come across as "boring" to some people, because there's people in my life who think Lana's music is too slow. But if you are someone (especially a young women) who has struggled with relationships, family issues, addiction etc, Lana has been able to execute all of her shared experiences in the most beautiful poetic way. If you are someone who listens to lyrics, then you know what I'm saying. I have never heard an artist who is able to write lyrics as beautifully as Lana, and it's so relatable to me. Her music has gotten me through the hardest moments, days, weeks, months, and years of my life. She has truly saved me, so it's a bit of a slap in the face for me seeing the hate she's getting. Even the other day, I was struggling so bad and didn't know what to do in the moment to help. I thought to do some work while shuffling Lana in the background, and listening to her sing about stuff that I'm going through helps me know that she was once where I'm at, and it brings me comfort to know that I'll be alright. I'm truly so sick of seeing people coming at my girl. People have just loved to tear her down her entire career.
She's not boring and she can sing. She's not a lively performer though so the Guardian article was right about that. Look at The Last Dinner Party for example
I’ve seen LDR twice in Portugal and it was the best f***** concert of my life. One better than the other. She CAN sing live and always give her best performance. She doesn’t dance or need to. I Love her, she has proven time and time again that her music is unique and it’s not for everyone.
How was anyone surprised when Lana did Lana. She is not an upbeat pop star like Ariana Grande, Brittany Spears, beyonce, she makes slow crooning songs. If she came out doing a death drop everyone would be confused
The constant bringing up of her ancient SNL performance reminds me of that one anonymous person who iirc is a Grammy voter, admitted that they know some fellow voters who actively don't vote for Lana during voting season because of her SNL performance, nothing else. Edit: nvm, you mentioned it at 8:20
she has so much talent and influence and a beautiful energy. and she totally showed all that at coachella. haters gonna hate. she’s my favourite female songwriter/artist.
She looked like a dream on that's stage, she did soo well, I'm not listening to any of the people discrediting her because I want to stay in a good mood.
Anyone who has gone to one of her concerts knows she can sing. As they said, she might not be the greatest vocalist of all time, but she has a beautiful voice, and most of all, her songs are so good. But yeah, definitely not high-energy music, so if that's what they were expecting, they were in the wrong place.
If you didn't get the performance/poeticism and your ignorant just say that.....Don't bash/write an smear article about an artist you very clearly have no idea about.
Okay I watched the livestream as well.. the truth is in the middle. Lana did sound very airy, breathy, shaky, off-key and it didn't sound like her recordings at all most of the time. However, she had a couple songs where she a did deliver. Was it technical difficulties or just her voice? Who knows, billie ATE on videogames though, did the technical difficulties stop on her mic? Also some others artists struggled too so I thought it was just coachella f'ing up but then you have Sabrina carpenter, coi leray and Renee Rapp just EATINGGGG and it's like well.. maybe their sound guys were better or they are better live.. again who actually knows and where does this blame game lead to? Maybe she will be better this weekend?
You don't have to read that long statement. Just stay silent for 10 or 15 seconds with an on-screen timer so we can read it for ourselves. That way you don't have murder French names, and skip words you've never heard before.
I'm also from 🇦🇺 & would love to go coachella! People in LA don't appreciate how good they got it with the availability of so many great concerts & festivals with so many amazing artists, if that line-up was here there'd be no chance I'd be missing it.
I'm sure she thanked everyone in her show because she was grateful for all their efforts. People are so ungrateful, and it's not just dissing her but everyone involved with her show.
i saw her when she headlined for outside lands last year. i was excited bc i've never seen her live before and didn't really know what to expect, but her stage production and overall performance was insanely captivating. even my brother (who doesn't listen to her or music similar to hers) said that he really wanted to see her in concert whenever she's back in the area, so to see all this criticism is seriously perplexing.
To the journals who wrote that article like what the fuck has she done to you? Are you this tour manager that quit right before Coachella? Like who hurt you? We have to remember Lana has come out herself many times and said I’m not a dancer. I’m not a performer, I just go on stage and sing my songs she is trying, but you can tell. She probably gets mad social anxiety on stage. A lot of artists don’t like to be on stage. They would much rather just put out their music for us to enjoy and not be bad they don’t wanna do all the promotions and merch and tour and things like that, she seems to be one of them. She’s really into poetry so not everyone’s gonna be Taylor Swift and put on this huge concert and not every person cares for that. A lot of them want to adjust hear the music however like I said in previous comment I don’t think I would enjoy the concert personally so I’m not going to pay to go because that’s just not my kind of show but some people like that and that’s OK. This journalist needs to fucking calm down. You’re not in high school and you’re critiquing somebody’s art and passion how would you feel? The roles were reversed and someone critique your art and your passion i.e.your articles or anything you write for a living you would hate it so chill out, bro
Lana is not a pop artist. People need to stop expecting her to perform and sing like one. If you dont understand the that the irony, the song writing, and the delivery is all intentional, you clearly have no ability to understand anything beyond a surface level and have the reading ability of a 7 year old. For god's sake, the song is called "summer time sadness" and you expect the song to be upbeat???
I have followed Lana since 2010 and have heard her voice live in person and shes freaking amazing! I got my husband into her after our first concert together watching her live! Shes truly amazing in person and will always love and praise her! She deserves so much recognition and praise! I LOVE Lana Del Rey ❤
Lana actually sings just as good live as on record, her vocals were amazing once the sound issues corrected. If you say she can’t sing you are literally delusional.
This makes me so mad. I saw her up close and live during her Ultraviolence tour and she blew me away. She sounded even better live than she did on the album which was mind blowing. She hit EVERY NOTE PERFECTLY. She changed up different notes and executed them with absolute PERFECTION!!
I love Lana down her audio work is amazing af. But I can say that the Coachella performances didn’t do her justice I definitely think she missed opportunities to showcase herself. She should have really given us the grandness of her discography but instead she just seemed shy and reluctant instead of owning the stage and the moment.
It really says a lot about her character to talk about how thankful she is for her entire team and everyone that made the performance possible. I think she was more upset about everyone ELSE being dragged (presumably, because the performance was dragged)… a criticism to her performance is a criticism to the entire team who brought it all together. I really appreciate that.
they’re such losers trying to “check” her lmfaoo- she’s so transparent and been real w her skills forever. She’s lovely, i’m proud of her and i admire how she unapologetically expresses herself!! LOVE YOU MISS LANA
I know a little bit about audio stuff and if the mic was going in and out, it wasn't her voice, it was the mic. I don't know anything about the area that Coachella is in, but sometimes interference can happen, and it can mess with the mic connecting with the receiver at the sound stage. I feel like it happens a lot there. There's so much audio stuff going on and so much music going on.
Etienne is a French name, so it is pronounced like "Etsy-enne" I am not sure what was said but it was not right. I was following along the text and when she got to the name I was so confused on what was said.
I truly don’t understand all the hate Lana gets. I didn’t go to Coachella but saw the performance online and I thought it was a fantastic show. I wouldn’t consider myself a die hard fan, but I appreciate her music and always wanted to see her live one day. I personally think it was mostly mic issues she had cause I saw Peso Pluma’s show a few hours prior to hers (he’s the Regional Mexican singer headlining Day 1) and he too had mic issues. So I blame Coachella for not getting their technical issues in order. Otherwise, I thought she looked beautiful, her bringing out Billie Eilish and Jon Batiste was awesome.
I cried while watching her sing. She is so impactful. It was so magical I will never forget it. Her words and style of singing is unique and GORGEOUS. The people who get it, get it 💖✨
Lana Del Ray is magic! So, alive beautifil, creative world she shows! I love her vulnerability, showing herself but not being fragile! She inspires me to live life
In all the clips of her singing at coachella it was super windy! We all know she is talented and I get it if people don't understand her melancholic, calm and sad sexy music, but she has a special place in my heart.
This is bs. The mic cut out only twice and sounded weird during the highnotes but otherwise the set was great !! Her voice was beautiful and other then the few times the mic stopped working it was fine. It was a little boring but that's cause most of her new songs have a slower tempo but it was awsum
Even with the technical difficulties and vocal ailments. The setlist was awkward and the whole thing was so poorly stitched together. It was giving ‘I’m just here to look pretty, give me my cheque’. Get that bag sis idk. I just kinda feel bad for the audience because coachella is NOT CHEAP!!!
Everything she did was very much for her can we loved it and we know she’s a poet first and a singer second love her either way she get her message crossed and SHE CAN SING !!

it’s not always about having the best voice it’s about whether the music moves you or not and her music is definitely influential and makes people feel things. People forget that music is an ART, whether her vocals are the best or not she still a great artist.
A voice is an instrument and is musical -not just art. A tool that needs a bit of guidance and dicipline
If people expected lana to turn up twerking or do a dance routine out of no where obviously have no idea about her music. She makes radical, sad, narrative building music. Moreover her entrance was one of the most iconic ones ever, the stage was ethereal, lana looked exqusite and she sounded like an angel. I don't know what these people are bitching about
Bro, she's singing in the desert and it's windy! Of course her voice isn't going to be studio perfect!
She had fucking laryngitis 💀 been there, she did fucking spectacular!
@@melovil9199 Always the best!!!!
I’ve seen her live and her voice was AMAZING.
She def sounded different in the clips I saw from Coachella but in general she has a phenomenal voice
@@aubrienicolleit was probably the mic. I heard that it cut out at one point.

yesss! i saw her live a couple months ago and she’s divine, ethereal, i was flabbergasted! she likes to play with her voice and songs in live performances too, which is just such a nice addition that is just telling of a real artist
@@perryjones7771and also that she had laryngitis, obviously someone’s voice wont sound the same or as good when theyre sick

The Guardian article wasnt wrong, sorry
The person who wrote the article literally knows nothing about Lana or music in general...
Not a musical fan of her, just not my style. However, I like how she thanked everyone in that post it seems including the kitchen sink! Definitely a class act! Kudos to you Lana!
Girl the way you read that statement 😂 i had to stop and read it with my eyes to understand
Real 😂😂😂
Same 😂
😂 fr I need to go back bcz what in the -chskkbzzhvszz
Lana is anything but boring and she can definitely sing live and beautifully at that- saw her back when she released NFR in my town and it was a fantastic show
Same! She’s amazing
The fact that the writer used the terms “chronically online” and “bedrot” is screaming “millennial that hates GenZ”. Her job was to review the performance, not criticize a whole fandom. As someone that was an editor in a newspaper, I wouldn’t have pushed her article through.
Edit: Yes I know Lana is a millennial but her fans are late millennial/ early gen z and we all know millennials will find any reason to hate on gen z. Y’all missed my point.
Which is weird because Lana is a millennial and so are most of her original fan base
@@HM-cq2rv older people will find any reason to hate on younger people
Lana isn’t gen Z though?
Lmao, Lana's almost 40.
Not every “hot” pop star out there is a Gen Z’er… millennials were redefining culture way before Gen Z even took the spotlight
I'm just gonna say this coachella has a history of having technical difficulties like along history😂. And she was sick, so cut some slack on her
lana has never looked better. most beautiful girl in the world ❤
she’s not for everyone and that’s okay. I love you Lana just keep being you. your real fans love your voice and understand that you are human. And as a girl who took choir not everyone sounds the same all the time some people have good and bad days. Some singers thrive more in different settings it’s part of being human. 😇
I hate the whole ozempic thing !!! My mom who is diabetic, and her doctor wants her to try this medication but she can’t since there such a craze for it it makes it extremely hard for the people who actually need it to get it! Not to mention how much it even cost now after insurance, shit pisses me off 🤷🏻♀️
Okay that’s fine & valid, but the problem is that people are making assumptions. We don’t even know if she’s on ozempic & it’s no one’s business.
@@elizahope456 I wasn’t talking about her at all I was talking about the rave of the drug overall since the increase of it being talked about it’s been harder to get is all I said 🤷🏻♀️
@@angie731 My bad!!!
People have just loved to tear her down her entire career.
literally this‼️
She's not boring and she can sing.
We don't ask her to be upbeat. We ask her to sing decently. That's a whole different thing.
No Doubt went on stage and they had had mic issues too it was irritating and it sounded bad so blaming her is insane? lmao
That may be the case, but Olivia Rodrigo and gwen did not have problems
@@sparklejumpropequeen667ok but neither did Billie and Lana…
@@sparklejumpropequeen667Olivia sounded like absolute shit regardless.
I’m a HUGE no doubt fan and even Gwen didn’t sound good. 🥴
Gwen and Olivia slayed it though as they sing louder.
@@ayyoo_adrian6453 true-they sand well together, but Lana not as good on her own
The constant bringing up of her ancient SNL performance reminds me of that one anonymous person who iirc is a Grammy voter, admitted that they know some fellow voters who actively don't vote for Lana during voting season because of her SNL performance, nothing else.
Edit: nvm, you mentioned it at 8:20
“Hostage proof of life video” is insane 💀
right??!!!! like omg
This is the SNL live performance drama all over again
she has so much talent and influence and a beautiful energy. and she totally showed all that at coachella. haters gonna hate. she’s my favourite female songwriter/artist.
That girl really said “there’s nothing wrong with ozempic” 😭😭😭😂😂
She looked like a dream on that's stage, she did soo well, I'm not listening to any of the people discrediting her because I want to stay in a good mood.
Anyone who has gone to one of her concerts knows she can sing. As they said, she might not be the greatest vocalist of all time, but she has a beautiful voice, and most of all, her songs are so good. But yeah, definitely not high-energy music, so if that's what they were expecting, they were in the wrong place.
Do you know who hardly ever is critiqued for their voice? Men, no one cares about their voices, but women always have to sing pretty
please Axel Rose sounded like Mickey Mouse on helium- and people literally said so everywhere at Glastonbury 2023
@@shadowboxer3583 that was his old man voice, no one comolained back in the day, but women always have to look pretty, and sing oretty

If these words come up again, dour is pronounced "dow-er" and balletic "ba'ledik," referring to dancers moving like ballerinas. Thanks for reporting!
I WILL FOREVER STAND UP FOR MY QUEEN!!! HOW DARE THEY😭😭😭😭
I’m with you 100%
They are lucky they are behind screens 😤
honestly your love is scary
I'm also from 🇦🇺 & would love to go coachella! People in LA don't appreciate how good they got it with the availability of so many great concerts & festivals with so many amazing artists, if that line-up was here there'd be no chance I'd be missing it.
I absolutely love Lana. Her voice always gives me chills. Ive alwsys wished i could sing like her. She had a gorgeous voice ❤
can't they change the mic? is a music festival... no backup available?
She had a vocal track behind her the whole time!!
I'm sure she thanked everyone in her show because she was grateful for all their efforts. People are so ungrateful, and it's not just dissing her but everyone involved with her show.
"they're nothing wrong with ozempic" hmmm yes ??? If you're not diabetic you should not be on ozempic
She is literally a cinematic singer
i saw her when she headlined for outside lands last year. i was excited bc i've never seen her live before and didn't really know what to expect, but her stage production and overall performance was insanely captivating. even my brother (who doesn't listen to her or music similar to hers) said that he really wanted to see her in concert whenever she's back in the area, so to see all this criticism is seriously perplexing.
LANA'S VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL THO 😭❤❤❤ she's like a fairy queen
She has an angelic voice dude
Love seeing that you went to Coachella with Sloan... I'm such a huge ass fan of him.. Both of yall make awesome videos 💯😎🥰😍🤩💖
Justic is the only artist who went all in!!
She whispers when live-needs more cofidence
This makes me so mad. I saw her up close and live during her Ultraviolence tour and she blew me away. She sounded even better live than she did on the album which was mind blowing. She hit EVERY NOTE PERFECTLY. She changed up different notes and executed them with absolute PERFECTION!!
Lana’s music isn’t my thing but *damn* this was a lot… she couldn’t help when she got sick or the tech issues
I really appreciate that.
regardless if she can sing or not, you have to admit the whole performance was messy. may it be her fault or out of her control, it was messy.
they’re such losers trying to “check” her lmfaoo- she’s so transparent and been real w her skills forever. She’s lovely, i’m proud of her and i admire how she unapologetically expresses herself!! LOVE YOU MISS LANA
I loved her Coachella weekend 1 setlist it was art gorgeous and she sounded amazing x
People who don't know Lana have no right to call her music boring.
Lana never claimed to be Beyoncé. She has always been a more soulful singer I don’t know what kind of performance people expected.

Lana was the best she ever looked, the best she ever sounded live. Stop insulting the queen ❤❤❤

I cried while watching her sing. She is so impactful. It was so magical I will never forget it. Her words and style of singing is unique and GORGEOUS. The people who get it, get it 💖✨
Love Lana, but after Peso Pluma and the energy after his performance was before hers he should’ve been the closer 😩
A+ to anyone who still sings while being sick/having laryngitis
The article was spot on lmao lana del rey is the most boring artist
Lana Del Ray is magic! So, alive beautifil, creative world she shows! I love her vulnerability, showing herself but not being fragile! She inspires me to live life
In all the clips of her singing at coachella it was super windy! We all know she is talented and I get it if people don't understand her melancholic, calm and sad sexy music, but she has a special place in my heart.
Haven't heard her performance but she looked absolutely beautiful 😍
The way you absolutely murdered the name "Etienne" 😂😂😂
