    Really appreciate the last section on lessons learned. Not many people show or discuss that.

    Great video, did the same process on my door and it came out better than expected! Prep is key.

      100% a good paint job is all about good prep work.

    Looks great... as nice as the tail gate looks now, you're going to end up wanting to paint the whole truck.

    Another thing you should have done differently is delay installing the nutserts until the end. They interfered with your sanding process.

      @eastwoodco  Před 24 dny

      Ah but then if something goes wrong at that point you're painting the panel again - scratch, doesn't seat properly, etc.. Doing it after it's been primed gives us room for error, as far as interference it only affected what is under the trim panel anyway.

    How many cans of color and clear were needed for this tailgate?

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  Před měsícem +3

      With our spray out cards we used 1.5 cans of base, 1.5 cans of mid coat, and 2 cans of clear.

    Did you treat the bare metal with anything?

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  Před měsícem +1

      Yes, it get's urethane primer over the bare metal and body work before getting to paint

    Can I ask why did you put this video out??? Why would you paint 100% of the tailgate if 10% of it was damaged!!

    • @jls.628
      @jls.628 Před měsícem +6

      Because it’s hard to match that 10% to the rest of the original tailgate paint. Easier to paint the entire area-all looks the same.

      @eastwoodco  Před měsícem +3

      There's a couple reasons but the number 1 being there's not really a proper way to blend clear coat - especially on the middle of a flat panel without body lines. So the proper repair is painting the whole panel.
