I love how complicated in its simplicity this is. Look at it and you think "That's not too hard" pick the bass up "Why is my thumb in the middle of my hand now?"
This song is currently enjoying a second coming, thanks to a certain film, and you know what, I’m here for it. It’s great seeing a new generation falling in love with Murder On The Dancefloor, and of course, the bass! A wonderful, uplifting, fun record, that takes me back to being 20 again 😀 so yeah, thanks ❤
Hi Guy, after the comment from the hospital for "one sleep" I'm finally back home after 17 days. Needless to say, your videos have kept me great company and I have watched them many times passing from one to the other. I am writing today because I want to compliment you because your great sympathy and empathy, in addition to your well-known and undisputed musical talent, are human qualities that are by no means negligible. Even with today's video you have demonstrated it not of your talent that I repeat is undisputed, but of your openness to music and art in general. It's so nice to listen while you play a song by Pink Floyd and then to see how naturally you move on to a nice piece of disco music like this one in the video. For my conditions your idea of the "lockdowm licks" is exceptional. Now I hope, as I think many others who follow you, you will want to dedicate a piece played with Brian Ferry to us. Ciao Guy, ciao to everyone. William
I had no idea you played this baseline . One of my absolute fav disco bass lines ever,70's or otherwise. I'd also like to note that I have Betty's twin sister . A 1965 Burgundy Mist Fender Jazz .
@@guypratt7104 Well, if I ever see one on the market I'll let you know Guy - very small finders fees ;-) Just revisiting this vid as been asked to play this at a wedding later in the summer, thought I'd get the word from the one who knows !! Cheers
I watched this during the lockdown as I remembered Sophie’s song when it came out in the early 2000’s. It was like an awesome time capsule back to 78. Anyway thanks, Guy for the story on the bass for this song!
I've always loved this bass line, just as you are one of my greatest idols on the instrument. But I didn't know you had recorded that song! Thank you for sharing with us!
You are my favourite bass player. Not specifically for your style although you're excellent, but that your personality cracks me up. You remind me of me when I get started!
I'm a French bassist.. sorry for my poor English.. You've been a great inspiration for me since many years ago (Pink Floyd's Delicate sound of thunder) Love your playing, your inspiration and I have to say I envy your prestigious career. Cheers from Paris
This is a great example of, how the bass make the song/groove. If you take the bass out, there is no groove! Great work as always... Thanks for the video....
Fantastic stuff thank you Guy! After reading your book I changed my jazz bass pickups to EMGs... I remember at sound check once the engineer called out "Now that's how a bass should sound!" Thanks for the videos- best thing that's come out of the Lockdown!
Guy has recorded and shared a stage with so many artists, what a resume! and what a great musician!!
this bass line is probably why the song is blowing up again-funky bass lines never age
Murder is what they did to this bassline in the mix 💀
Guy Pratt, it is official. You are part of history. Murder on the dancefloor is one of the best songs ever created.
I speak for all the bass players on the planet, more videos PLEASE !
Jesus, give me a chance!
There's nothing better than disco bass. Nothing.
Cumbia bass bro is fan also
Love the Lockdown Licks, i could listen and watch Guy playing bass all day
EddieHitler7 You need to get out more!
Betsy could never get old.
The only thing I miss about lockdown - a new video from this gent every week. ❤
Its only watching Guy's lockdown show you realise what a skilled artform playing bass is.
I love how complicated in its simplicity this is. Look at it and you think "That's not too hard" pick the bass up "Why is my thumb in the middle of my hand now?"

Sophie's Kitchen Disco is an absolute joy 😁

I think we need a Guy Pratt signature disco shirt

Oh wow! I’m impressed
I agree, one of my fav baseline too
@@guypratt7104 Does Betsy not have 2 sisters? Are there not 3 jazzs, 3 precisions, 3 strats and 3 tele's all in the same colour?
@@dominiccrimmings6925 Not in my possession which is kind of the point..
