  • Scott Toy Guru Neitlich turns the spotlight on She Ra answering a ton of questions about her cloned (???) sword, why and how she was kidnnapped and how she might have made it into the 200X series had the rights been available. Our favorite non-Disney princess is here. Comes with our highest possible recommendation!

@@lucasbachmann It's an intersting pairing: on the one hand, the live action ( which originally would have featured She-Ra, & William Stout's design for her is something else... should've been in the movie lol ) made more gross, at 17million versus the animated's 7million, HOWEVER, the animated was much more of a success: for one thing, back then, animated movies seldom made mega money unless they were Disney or Warner Brothers: but, also, the net of the animated was FAR better, since the live action had coust 22 million and had a net loss, while the animated He-Man & She-Ra movie, the only theatrical movie either cartoon ever directly produced, made over 3.5 times it's 2million dollar production budget.

I cannot lie. I have NEVER been a fan of She-Ra, but it has been interesting ( as an adult ) to learn about the plot of it. The concept of the Bad Guys being in charge, and She-Ra leading a rebellion against them is very cool, and STAR WARS-esque. I never knew anything about POP until a few years ago.

EXACTLY!! It's an outrage that the companies and studios are behaving just like Hordak & Skeletor did in the original minicomics/shows, separating the twins: the further irony is that the character of Hordak himself has actually been the MAIN figure holding the separated franchise together, since he keeps returning as a MAJOR antagonist in reboots, from the 2002 Cartoon Network version, to the 2016 She-Ra reboot, and probably also in the new Revelations reboot, and he is pretty consistently recognizable in each adaptation.

Great videos as per usual. But two questions.
    1. We never got to hear how the Sword of protection came about.
    2. Instead of letting Skeletor be able to cross that wall from the dark hemisphere, why not let Hordak do a short run-in ? I mean he could easily have escaped Despondos for a short time (Like Skeletor did with the Dark Hemisphere wall), and by doing that, it could have tied in better with Filmation as well.

Spielban's father and sister were kidnapped by his enemies, the Waller Empire, when he was young, and so when he faces his sister Helen as an adult, she turns into a dangerously superpowered villain called Hellvira. The cloning, the purple monster, the Goddess. And all this disappeared.
Masters Of The Universe has the most convoluted development award! Next to The Transformers with its UK/US timeline which got really crazy as the Marvel UK issues had to wreathe around the US strip and connect the two continuities. By 1987 this went off the road and there were major continuity errors such as Megatron being found in London in 1987 but by 1989 in his return in the US the London incident turned into a cloned Megatron being found because he wasn’t alive in the US comic when the UK writer Simon Furman took over in 1989. It was a real ‘issue’ in the final years of the Transformers Marvel UK comic. It’s still easily though the greatest run of Transformers stories to date, lasting 332 issues from 1984-1992.

Then in multiple episodes, she saved He-Man, she appeared stronger than him and not seem to be exhausted as easily, can communicate with animals, healing powers, and her sword can become whatever she wants, the jewel allows interdimensional communication.
He-Man has been known to use the Coridite crystal to enhance his strength, it is unknown if She-Ra uses it herself, but again she seems stronger than him regardless.
He-Man's sword which combined with the Sword of the Ancients did not seem to have enhanced his power sword at all. The only weakness for She-Ra's sword was if the jewel was damaged, then she cannot transform to She-Ra.

I like to imagine if there were ways to bring He-Man back either to the big screen or small screen. I like to think of interesting ways in how to make He-man grand in scale. I like to imagine that when Hordak was banished all the worlds that he conquered were automatically sent to Despondos as well due to his magical grip onto the worlds he conquered. Also if they ever wish to do another Masters of the Universe Thundercats cross over. They could something of the original Trolla Wizards who were connected to the power of the Universe the best and were in charge of guarding this relic of ultimate power and realized the hard way that Hordak and his forces were too outnumbering. Realizing that they are being outnumbered by Hordak's Demons, Fallen Spellcasters, and Mutated Mutants that he experimented on the Trolla Wizards divided this power and scatteedr them across the Universe where one was given to He-Ro in the form of a sword on Eternia and another on Etheria where it was given to there champion. After Etheria's champion was killed by Hordak, the remaining resistance sent the sword to Eternia before Hordak could claim it's power. As Hordak searches for the two swords of power. The other two relics of power landed on other worlds. One landed on a desolate planet that would create life and evolve to a point to have an intelligence of its own when it psychically connected to a race of genetically engineered cat-people who fled a future Earth when their Human Masters were dying from a deadly plague and a war with Artificial Intelligence. That planet would one day become Thundera and the power that gave Thundera life will one day become the planet's spirit that will inhabit the eye of Thundera someday. The other relic of power would one day land during the period of Second Earth when Humanity died out and it was just an apocalyptic landscape, but the relic's power would heal Second Earth and turning it into Third Earth. That's one idea that could be used to expand the Masters of the Universe and Thundercats line. And since Orco is a Trolla himself, they could change Orco's character from a bumbling idiot to a hero in training. They could turn him into a cross between Frodo and Yoda as a savior of the Universe if they wanted. I still remember a He-Man comic cover seeing Orco taking on Hordak with his powers. I really like the concept of something that is small and doesn't look very intimidating is actually harnessing a massive amount of power, and I wish Matell would do that with Orco. There has been He-man storylines where Orco has the potential to become a very powerful Wizard if he trains and disciplines himself hard enough.

I accept that Fisto can be Duncan’s brother. What I didn’t like in the 200x series was making Skeletor and Randor brothers. That just changed everything. Kinda like Laurie Strode being Michael Myers brother, only they undid that to where we still don’t know why he’s been after her over 40 years later, but getting back to Motu, hopefully in the new revelation series we get, they hopefully won’t follow that storyline anymore. Skeleton wanting to kill his brother and nephew just was a little weird. And I wish they never let it happen where Mattel or the powers that be, can’t put He-Man and She-Ra in a new series. I actually didn’t even know there wasn’t a possibility of Adam or anyone else from eternity could not ever appear in that new crazy She-Ra show . Like an idiot, I watched it thinking oh! Hey, this was posted on my birthday, cool. I'll pose the same question as I have elsewhere, and if you''ve already answered by the time you see this, do pardon me. Maybe you can help clear up, if you know authoritatively: I HATE that the studious have been behaving as if Hordak was in charge of their executive board, repeatedly separating the twins ( He-Man & She-Ra ) just like Hordak & Skeletor did in She-Ra's origin story ( do these company's creatives & execs realize they are literally emulating one of the most infamously wicked crimes committed by in the original series by main villains Hordak & Skeletor??!!). The basics are that NBCUniversal, through Dreamworks, owns all the television rights to BOTH He-Man & She-Ra, though Mattel Creations/Television is credited as co-producer on the 2016-1020 She-Ra, and as a main producer on He-Man Revelations: but what is the actual deal?? Does Dreamworks have exclusive He-Man tv rights, or is Mattel somehow able to separately make shows based exclusively on the toys, and if the latter is the case, shouldn't they still be able to at least use She-Ra herself ( as well as Catra and possibly Bow ) since those characters, especially She-Ra, were produced as Mattel toys BEFORE the Filmation movie [ which was released nationwide in theaters before the show aired, made nearly 4 times it's 2million dollar budget, and was the only theatrical movie ever made of either original cartoon ) & show began, & had minicomics ( again, dated & copyrighted in back as 1984 www.he-man.org/publishing/item.php?id=726&image=18968 , BEFOE the movie & show ) that differed in many design areas ( though the origin story of her being He-Man's twin sister, abducted by Hordak as an infant, remained constant in all original iterations ) from the cartoon version??

Is that correct??
      2 )
ALSO, regarding She-Ra & Catra, is Mattel entirely unable to use even She-Ra & Catra?? This would be odd, since the copyright on those two toys & on the minicomic that first publicly introduced both She-Ra & Catra are dated 1984, & there are significant design differences www.he-man.org/publishing/item.php?id=726&image=18968 in both characters compared to their Filmation versions ( the Catra design has MASSIVE differences ). Is Mattel still prohibited from using versions of She-Ra & Catra based on the 1984 copyrighted product & minicomic illustrations/toys which they created prior to the Filmation movie & series ( the way they are able to use Hordak...
