    One of my favorite songs ever.

    They actually use lots of clean vocals, Stranded had them for like 10-20 seconds, i think another world and born for one thing had a little bit of them, the chant, technically yes, also the last 2 albums use lots of those creepy sounding clean vocals. And yes, it's the same singer, and believe it or not, the drummer does that without drum modifications, actually plays that fast and has a great technique

      The whole Magma album is pretty heavy on the clean vocals

    Hello from New England..This is one of the most crushing songs Gojira does...Fun fact.. This entire thing was a drum exercise the drummer was doing at rehearsal and when the band heard it they said we HAVE to make a song around that..I've seen Gojira 8 times including last August in Connecticut and they freaking slayed and gave no quarter..And yes the cleans were all the singer Joe Duplantier..This song is about astral projection and the entire album this came from..FROM MARS TO SIRIUS IS A CONCEPT ALBUM..Nice pick bro..🤘✌️👍

    Another Gojira today? Nice

    The singer/rhythm guitar is the drummer's brother and usually the songs are made starting with the drums so when they slow down on their newer stuff it's because the drummer is trying to give himself a break although he practices a whole hour of constant double bass everyday. I highly recommend his 2022 solo and his others. Also, this came out before the art of dying

    Gojiras got so many good songs although they are unorthodox you might have to get used to , they are pretty consistent band up until fortitude/magma albums they experimented a bit/changed styles

    Wait till you check out Where Dragons Dwell ( preferably the live version) Absolute drum madness.

    The topic of this song is astral projection which is the act of going out of body but it's supposed to be real and not a dream in this song the singer is experiencing an astral projection and is floating into a black hole in outer space. Remembrance next!

    • @jez_77
      @jez_77 Před rokem

      Id say the topic of this song is the speaker realizing during said astral projection, that the heaviest matter of the universe is actually the power of love (which happens in the last part of the song). That would easily make it the heaviest song about love Ive ever heard, beating Love? by SYL to that

    Check out "where dragons dwell", live at Hellfest 2013 next. It's the song directly before The Heaviest Matter on the album and it's one of the greatest pure live performances from any band, it's intense.

  • @jordanjoestar8839
    @jordanjoestar8839 Před rokem +10

    Even crazier when you realize one of the heaviest songs ever is telling you the heaviest matter of the universe is... love.
    That's as Gojira as it gets. It transcends both time and space.

  • @thoronthol1175

    Heaviest = most important
    Matter = concept; knowledge
    Of the Universe = of the universe
    Love is the most important thing in the universe. It’s right there for us in the final verse. Fucking Gojira.

    • @jez_77
      @jez_77 Před rokem +2

      Yeah, exactly, I think a lot of people miss this verse and not realize that this song is entirely about power of love and how speaker realizes at the end that this is the most powerful thing in the universe

      @@jez_77 Thank you! You just made my day.
      Joe is extremely vulnerable in his writing which for me is Gojira’s main attraction. The music is incredible, but lots of bands are faster, heavier, more melodic, more technical. Gojira shines in subject matter, passion, and intelligence.

    • @jez_77
      @jez_77 Před rokem +1

      @@thoronthol1175 Yeah, even their early stuff like Terra Incognita or The Link have some really deep and delicate lyrics. The topics Joe writes about like our planet, development of person's mind and feelings, society, personal struggles, death, afterlife and so meany more. I dont think theres a single song that doesnt have some real value in lyrics. Im not surprised that at first people dont expect that, especially from those brutal growls. But when you focus on lyrics and listen how Joe sings them with so much emotions and passion, it really transitions from being just great and heavy music to a really strong, touching and meaningful message. One quick example that I listen to recently almost on loop - Space Time and that incredible bridge starting with "Now I see those mounts of fear". Like holy shit, that heavy riff, melodic guitar in the background, vocals and lyrics Joe sings. Its just so epic and magical that its almost hard to describe. Sometimes its put almost poetically, like entire From Mars to Sirius where all of its message is hidden behind that concept of astral travel. From first listen of Where dragons dwell for example someone could just think thats its a cool song about fighting a dragon, wouldnt be even anything uncommon in metal if it was just that. But as few verses suggests, its entirely about fighting your own demons inside and examples like that are countless with Joe. And he really likes to talk about his lyrics, its really intriguing to listen to him explaining some of the art he created.

    Yeah if nobody told you before you started listening to gojira they definitely are different. They commonly use different patterns then expected so at times can be hard to headbang

    • @420crim3
      @420crim3 Před rokem +2

      Unless you follow the cymbal stringing it along. Like in Remembrance the china should be followed to headbang

    If you want a Gojira track with pure clean vocals, check out "The Trails" from the Fortitude album. Also "Shooting Star" from the Magma album. They're also both a lot more chill than most Gojira tracks. Way different, but good.
