    Love the speed overlay. Would be great to have on some learning to carve gybe videos. I’ve just been getting better at controlling planing at 35 to 40km/h in small chop and wondering if that is the right speed to try planing entry. Looks like the answer is yes.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes! Simply go broad and fast when entering the gybe!

    My record is 29,64knots (54km/h) after that my medium gear starts to fly out of control. Time to get my bodyweight up or a weightfest.

      30knots plus and a lot of it will be fine tuning the kit… and finding the right spot… in this video I didn’t find flat enough water when the wind was strong enough to go at any special speeds!

    Looks so much faster than it really is , but at what point you reach 81km/ph or should it be m/ph ?

    I took lessons to improve my jibes. The instructor gave me exercises I could also do on the lake, like carving at high speed to practice entering the jibe with gusto. I go into the jibe at 40 km/h and the instructor said that my positioning on entry is great now. However, I cannot manage to get the board past fully downwind. I always stop before I can flip the rig. Seeing you go around the corners so easily really drives me nuts!
    My new objective is to decidedly not watch my hands/rig/feet and look into the new direction. I also think it might be better to switch my stance first and flip the sail once I am on my new course and still planing. That by the way is an issue on both fin and foil.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Maybe play with just carving the board through the turn and not worry about the rig for a bit… once you’re making it round you can then start to play with the rig again and think about powering out!

      On a very gusty day in Vass in August this year I broke my speed record by 3 knots. Got up to 30.9 knots (57.7kmh).
      And there was a bigger gust about to hit when I bailed at top speed out of fear. My kit carried on for quite a bit without me. (MagicRide 109/ Duotone Supersession 6.3 / age: 52)

    • @RainbowBelow
      @RainbowBelow Před 11 měsíci

      @@horsemadf1 I think it was a backwinded carve tack as he did it on the plane. He went round the sail from the front but he was bearing off the wind at the same time :) That's my humble opinion only of course... I'm still progressing through windsurfing but it's such a great and highly underrated sport!

      @@horsemadf1 It wasnt a tack. Think of it like a duck gybe but going around the front of the mast, instead of the going under the clew of the sail. Dont know what it is called.
