I LOVED this video. You’re so clear, perfect tone of voice, specific and gave us the specific tools that work well. There are many choices so your opinion and why was helpful. Thank you !!
Great video, thanks! Forgive if it’s already in comments somewhere, but I’ve found a great way to get a nice smooth start before shading with the colored pencils is to begin with a base marker. Keep up the great work!
Chris, thanks for creating this video. I love learning from everyone's personal experiences and preferences.
+Jeanne Burbage Thank you!
Thanks a lot for making this video. You did a great job showing us all your way of making the gems. It's great to have a few tutorials because each one has something new to teach us. Love your Gems😊
+Gloria Lenzen Thanks Gloria!
Great video! It's so much easier to learn when you can see how it's done as opposed to reading!
+Ruth Brightman Thank you - I'm glad you find it helpful!
Thank you so much for this very clear and detailed video. You explain the process very well, and I now feel better prepared to practice gems again!
+Jeannine Morgan Thank you - I'm so glad that I could help!
Thank you so much for this great tutorial!
Christianne! This was a great video. I agree with one of the other comments that actually watching your video was helpful for my style of learning. I have to try some of these gems. Thanks for sharing this.
+Roseanne V. Sabol Thank you - I'm so glad!
Thanks so much! Your video was the most helpful piece of information I have come across. To actually see it being done helped more than just reading the steps and see still photos. So once again, thank you. Beautiful piece of work!
+Patricia Jones Thank you so much for that wonderful comment! I only hope that people see past the fumbling and bumbling i sometimes do to the real part of what I"m trying to show! :)
Thank you for this video. This is fascinating. Going to try this for sure!
+AGover60 Thank you for taking the time to watch it - have fun!

+Sharon Sterner Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it!
Great! Adore it!
I have a question...
How can you draw with white?? What kind of pencil of pen works? Mine doesn't!!
Thanks for sharing you wonderful work!
Thanks for the video.. now I'm going to try to do a couple!
+mssher Thank you - I hope you have fun!
Terrific - thank you, maybe the fact that Polychromos are oil based whereas Prismas are wax based accounts for the ease of blending, it seems that way to me as all the pencils I've used that are wax based will only layer so far before starting to 'catch' & go streaky. It's so helpful seeing this done on video.
+PEP - Paula Ponton Thank you! And I'm thinking you're right about that - the poloychromos definitely edge out over the prisma for layering and blending - at least for me :)
Thanks Chris for sharing your experience, your gem looks great! I do have a question, your gem looks shiny. Is that achieved by the colours light to dark and shading or by the burnishing that you did? Thanks Sheila
Looks great!
+Kristiina J Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Great tutorial! Can't wait to try=)
+elsidius01 Thank you - I hope you have fun with it!
This is so helpful! Thank you, Christianne, for taking the time to show us. I'm new at colored pencils, and find that my hand gets really tired. My pencils are cheap, and it feels like I'm putting more wax than color on the paper. I also get little bits of wax that come off :(. Is this true for Faber-Castells and Prismacolors? Do you have a preference?
+Jennifer Sparrow Thank you for watching. I am really enjoying my Faber Castells a lot - I do have prisma color as well and they work very nicely. I think if you switch to a better pencil you might alleviate the hand fatique a bit. Also, what kind of paper are you using? You don't want a completely smooth paper, but you don't want a terribly bumpy one, so maybe if you have some Bristol Vellum or similar it might also help. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks Chris. I sadly can't find my white gel pen at the moment so my gem is looking a little flat, but great tutorial
Sorry about the lost pen - hope it shows up - and thank YOU!
thank you!:)
Espectacular💖💕💕💝💖💕💕💝💝💝💕💖💖💕💕💝💖
thank you!! this was so easy to follow!
+Sarah Hancock Thank you, I'm glad!!
+Christianne Gerstner, CZT I just watched it again and you have given me the confidence I need to try this tonight. Thank you again for making a simple video, without too much "stuff," focused on the basics for beginners like me. I hope I can become what you are inspiring me to be. Now I just need practice.
Thank you so much for watching - I am happy if it helps and I would love to see what you do! Have fun!

your video has been very helpful. I've been having problems with applying the gel pen. it doesn't seem to flow well, and then when I add more, it scrapes off.
+Alice McCallum Thank you - if you notice in my video, I do mention that it does scrape off. I recommend using a light touch and trying different types of gel pens to see which one gives you the best effect.
+Christianne Gerstner, CZT
yes, I did see that. I am using the Sakura Gelly Roll. will keep practicing. Thank you, again.
