- The Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris is the long-awaited successor to the Asics Metaspeed Sky+, and Asics has come out swinging with an updated design that features a new midsole foam that helps trim the weight to well under 200g in a UK 9. The Metaspeed Sky Paris is certainly light, but does it deliver that super-shoe magic on the run? Mike, Kieran and Nick have put it to the test with a first run and share their thoughts here, with our full multi-tester review to come in a few weeks.

Seems that the Edge Paris is getting better reviews so far. Definitely interested in hearing your opinions.
First run today, 20k. It's like a super light alphafly 2. Love them
Can’t wait to try this shoe .
Thanks for sharing your first thoughts and look forward to the full review guys 👍🏻
I would like to hear if you think it’s a marathon shoe Kofuzi describes the sky as the marathon racer over the edge .
I have the Edge plus and Sky plus. I am a heel striker and slow runner and the Sky Plus gives me foot fatigue after the run. I am not strong enough to get the plate working. Edge Plus is perfect for me. Like a more stable Vaporfly V2. Also Metaspeed Edge plus at 150 miles feel new but Vaporfly V2 midsole went flat 😢.
V2 is more stable from heel to forefoot. Edge+ is firm, probably works better for advanced to elite runners.
@@ihussain1011elites can wear anything and run fast 😂
The Edge Paris was selected over the Sky Paris in its prototype format by the majority of Elites for Marathons. Interested by Kieron and Mikes potential view this is a first choice Half Marathon shoe rather than Marathon shoe. This shoes has more foam under the forefoot than Nikes Alphafly .. technically there is 3mm more due to the Sky Paris only having 5mm drop to the forefoot. The softer springier foam also suggests ASICS have been listening. How does the foam compare to Powerrun PB/HG? The fact this shoe is markedly lighter than the carbon racer competition is kudos to ASICS. Lighter in my mind at least doesn’t mean it can’t be the Go to Marathon racer if there is sufficient protection. Perhaps Kieron’s point on stability is key even though the plate is wider? This point probably does depend on on the individual ie their size, gait, speed and running history….
Given the tech and trickledown we should see from the Adidas EVO 1 into the forthcoming Adios Pro4 there has to be a good possibility that shoe is coming in at around or under the 200g mark too. If so, then that’s the release I’ll wait to see up against this shoe and the Alphafly 3. The like for like 24 generations release comparisons are the videos I’m keen to see. Interesting but to me, it looks like ASICS are reasserting themselves near or at the top of the pile… like Toms view and to see Nicks reaction having raced in the Metaspeed Sky Edge Paris (bloody mouthful isn’t it!?)
Interesting to hear Kieran's review. I've always found that Asics need breaking in as opposed to other brands so that fact that he only felt fully dialled in at the end of his run.
Nice review!
Which is more protective and bouncy the metaspeed or the hoka Cielo x?
Thanks
As a heavy forefoot striker, I loved the original Sky (600km) so this one with amazing weight savings and better upper and fit is a no brainer buy for me. What a shoe
Could you kindly do a versus between the Metaspeed Sky Paris and the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2, please? Thanks.
Thanks guys for your views. I'm curious about brande new Edge Paris, maybe to compare them, as for me it's pretty hard choice which pair to choose. Looks I'm increasing both cadence and stride lenght, both when racing or running race paces. So hard to choose just one pair as not a cheap shoes to try both together. Maybe chance to pick up one of them and later another to compare them personally and compare which one would work better for me. All the Best and looking forward to seeing your further reviews.
love watching videos of carbon plated shoes I can't afford 😂 thank tom and co.
Enjoyed Mike’s commitment to using the word “edge” in his Sky review
When I understand correctly, the plate configuration in the Sky Paris is similar to the Sky+, while the Edge Paris has a curved plate similar to the original Sky (Tokyo). I am a big fan of hat shoe, but I can't run anything longer than a half marathon in them. So, hoping I am that this now solved in Sky Paris, but on the same time I am hoping that it hasn't lost too much of its snap.
Will there be a shoe comparison video between the edge and sky Paris from ASICS and the alphafly 3
Either the edge Paris or Hoka Cielo for my next marathon. Is the Edge Paris stable and comfy enough for a marathon? As a 58yr old runner that comes before shoe weight for me so if the edge does not offer that for the latter miles maybe Hoka for me?
Does the Sky still have some foam on the lateral end to discourage excess supination?
Banger alert.
Nick
What is the blue band on your Garmin?
Can you please ask ASICS why they don’t make their super shoes in bigger sizes. Also the super blast ?
You can get any other trainer from them up to a 14.
Would love to try these.
Doing my first half marathon . How many miles do these race day shoes typically get before they lose their magic
I tried it on; no run. I like the feel of Paris vs +. + felt like it had a midfoot bulge I had to climb over, and not good for easy. Not so with the Paris. Excited to run in it.
if you would race a 5k? would you pick de metaspeed sky+ or still de metaspeed sky paris?
Burning question...is it better than the sky plus, for ultra running (sub 6 comrades) ?
Which footage shows true colour of the shoe? Is it more red or orange!
An answer would be nice 😀
What do you video with Mike? These shoes are not light orange!
I am a supinator land on outside of foot I have cadence of 188-202 which would you recommend please
Arguably the edge. 188 is an incredibly high cadence.
@@JonahTaylorProductions yeah that’s me minimum of 188 every run
Have they actually created a Vapourfly Next 2% killer and a endorphin elite competitor.
I think Sky/Edge is more about forefoot power than stride/cadence. I have a strong foot strike, rather than a roller, but I’m not a bounder. I have the original Edge, but I think this Sky will better enable me to take advantage of my powerful foot strike.
This is this channels advantage, hearing 1 runners perspective here is always boring for me🤷🏽♂️ if i make it through the video hope to see more quality from this channel🙏🏽
Has the midsole material become softer? Does the sole still have that almost non-existent layer of rubber, making durability ridiculous? A shame, I was looking forward to this new version of the Assics super sneaker, but these two pieces of information are enough to destroy my interest!
Ay-sicks not Aah-sicks. Damn Brits😝
The British pronunciation is similar to the Japanese pronunciation, so Americans are the outlier here.
