Irishman here glad I got to experience my first time being at a Super Rugby game, the atmosphere was abit dull but a good try fest which made it an entertaining watch.

Totally didn't expect the second-half wipeout by the Blues.
When Beauden Barrett turns it on, that's when the Blues kick up that high gear.
Unfortunately, this season, BB seems to have stayed pretty quiet in the past matches, before finally coming back today.
Wow, Barrett shutting up his critics with a masterclass performance. His kicking from hand was phenomenal.
Too bad the Rebels fell asleep on their laurels at half time. We could have had an absolute belter, if they decided to show up for the second half.
Also, Uelese is very talented, but guy can’t stay injury free for 5 minutes.

@@NZTrumpFan why. The player with the best boot should kick. Beauden has slotted plenty. The fact NZ has a variety of quality kickers amongst its AB's shows you know Jack. I remember a certain John Eales who wasn't shabby either & he was no No.10.
Leon MacDonald's face at the end said it all - a score that was far more flattering than the performance. The Blues remain wasteful of chances, lack attacking structure and repetition of basics leaves a lot to be desired. Let's not forget, the Rebels lost 4 forwards to injuries in the match, and were basically playing with 13 or 14 much of the second half.
I am glad the Blues won, but with the exception of Telea, most have to lift their game higher for the Blues (and All Blacks) to compete. Still time for improvement, at least.

Rebels have to be successful before they'll get noticed. They don't even get mentioned in local sports news - people just don't know they exist unfortunately. There were 49000 at the Good Friday AFL game (under a roof). Weather would have kept a few away from this game to be fair.

What changed in a year? Two words: Joe Schmidt. It turns out that wothout Schmidt scrutinising the players skills, driving their workrate and managing their defensive positioning, Leon MacDonald's new-look Blues team looks very much like an old one; clumsy, low skilled, tactically messy, unfit and unable to deliver on the potential of a multi-talented squad. The diminished form of Barrett and Papalii, along with the continued lack of improvement to Caleb Clarke's overall game is an indictment of the current coaching ticket. The idea of MacDonald becoming an AB's assistant coach should make any NZ fan hoping for salvation under the next coaching lineup very, very uneasy.
