This is such a good series, this is the content I am here for
Indeed! I enjoyed this way more then i thought I would. 10/10 would binge watch a series of these
This at the very least needs to be a monthly thing
Avi check
nah i could see it getting tiresome. yearly would be awesome
@@wisco9er536 way too long, every four months would be good, six if we’re pushing it

Maybe I should make video essays.
Oh my God it's thomas the traim
as a 16 year old karsten runquist fan... uh... yall are WILD ive rewatched his climax review tons of times and not once have i ever considered watching it because im a weak little baby 😭
It’s not that bad. You’ve probably seen more traumatizing films tbh
Yeah. Irreversible and Enter the Void are a way bigger punch to the face
It's personally the most disturbing film I've seen, only because I've had experience with people who've had some seriously bad trips. It's also the closest I've ever seen a film capture the essence of a nightmare, feeling like you're running and running and never getting further away from some invisible horror.
Really good stuff I highly recommend it
I don't think they're that wild. They just understand that movies like "Climax" heavily appeal to their morbid fascinations. Sort of like how some kids love horror films and yet some adults cannot fathom stomaching it.

Thomas Flight’s (the last person he reviewed) video essays on CZcams are incredible. Highly recommend.
Wow funny enough I just came from watching his rehearsal video
As someone who owns a The Rats dvd and has seen the movie I can confirm that it is one of the worst movies ever made. Like I am the kinda guy who loves so bad it's good movies but The Rats just broke me

@@ljack-dr7kx I hope you enjoy nothing. if you do, I hope you never get to express how much you do
yes! i also watched it around that time and, even though i hadn't had similar experiences, i could relate to what they felt. finding someone who gets you and with whom you can talk about your ideas and dreams, fall in love and all that. but it's not even necessary to relate to appreciate it, thanks to the great script and charming performances, it's very exciting to watch and to imagine having a similar thing happen to you some day. and yeah, the way it all flows is incredibly natural and that's what makes the film so good.
edit: realized i mixed up before sunset/sunrise, and yup, the second one is way heavier and i guess you have to live a little longer to get it. i'm glad i watched it few years after the first one.
Damn just deeped you’re born in 2007 wtf
I'm 15 as well. I need to see the before trilogy I guess.
I first watched Before Sunset when I was 15 and it resonated with me very deeply for some reason. Now, as an 18 year old, I actually understand why it resonates with me.
Why
I first watched it when I was 15 as well OH but I’m 17 and still don’t really know why it resonated with me.

MY LIST
1. Fantastic Mr fox
2. Eyes wide Shut
3. There will be blood
4. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The level of lost whenever he says “What the hell is The Rats?”
i think i get the kiddos who all listed these super intense movies in their top 4. i know when i was a teen, back in the iron age, i would have put the edgiest most serious shit in my top 4, even if i didnt understand it, just to feel more adult. because no teen wants to be seen as a kid. pretty crazy that my youtube account is older than some of your followers though.
also my top 4 wasnt chosen because im unroastable. i have impeccable taste.

ahhh such a great series! my letterboxd favorites are My Own Private Idaho, Garden State, Almost Famous, and Before Sunrise...
karsten, what does that say about me?
you really love to yearn
I think before Sunrise makes much more sense than before sunset, even though I still enjoy the latter.
I’ve never been in a relationship, I’ve had crushes, but not a relationship and I’m 17 right now. But I watched Before Sunset when I was 16 and it fucking hit. Everything Julie Deply’s character said during the car ride was exactly how I felt about, and thought about, love. Especially since I’m in high school, relationships just seem pointless (I mean they nearly all end, if nothing else, when you go off to college). And, idk, something about the whole wondering if there is true love, can it ever stop the loneliness, and all that stuff was all that I thought about. It’s weird, isn’t it? That Karsten finds it insane that someone could resonate so deeply with something that they’ve never experienced. But yet I do, what does that say? Idk, I really honestly don’t know.
1. Synecdoche New York
2. Mulholland Drive
3. American Psycho
4. Blue Velvet
And my childhood fave is Roger Rabbit

Facts on the 15-year-old with Before Sunset. I'm 27, had a gut-wrenching breakup and I *still* feel like I haven't been beaten down enough to not relate to Before Sunrise more.
Please do more this is so much fun
The shade for how to train your dragon almost made me unsubscribe
I’m 15 and I would consider my top 5 favorite films to be the following:
1. The Godfather 1972
2. The Godfather, Part II 1974
3. Halloween 1978
4. Pulp Fiction 1994
5. American Psycho 2000
That's definitely a 15 year old's list !
Both Godfathers are on the list,
like come on 😂
@@manujkantimazumdar A 15-year-old can’t like The Godfather? 😭
No offense, but it feels like you started trying to figure out what good films are about 15 minutes ago. Not to diss you or say any of these films are bad, but maybe do some more exploring.🤷
@@sleep6837 I’ve most definitely done a lot of exploring throughout the world of cinema, in various genres. The films I chose are mainstream for a reason, they’re terrific films. Just because I don’t choose anything from Stanley Kubrick or Akira Kurosawa’s filmography doesn’t mean I don’t have an expansive knowledge of cinema. I have my reasons for liking each film I’ve chosen. Vito Corleone imo is the best character ever put to the silver screen, right behind him is Michael, both played to perfection by Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Most films have one or two stand outs at most. The Godfather’s whole cast is terrific. James Caan (R.I.P.) as Santino “Sonny,” Corleone. John Cazale (R.I.P.) as Fredrico “Fredo,” Corleone. Especially Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen. The Godfather, Part II is just as good if not better, this film showed off the young Al Pacino and John Cazale’s true talent. It’s a tragedy that Al Pacino didn’t win an Oscar for Michael Corleone in GFII. John Carpenter’s Halloween is the best display of creepy atmosphere I have ever bared witness, not to mention how many films were inspired by it afterwards springing the slasher genre that Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel disliked. They loved John Carpenter’s Halloween but hated all of the soulless films that ripped it off. Pulp Fiction is Pulp Fiction, what else can I say that hasn’t already been said. Quentin Tarantino at his peak. American Psycho was crafted excellently by Mary Harron and it’s Christian Bale’s best performance, no doubt. My knowledge of cinema is well rounded. If you would care to share your favorite films I would love to question your passion for the craft as well.

4. 2001: a space odyssey

Titane is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen
Solid Ass list
I like connection with lighthouse and username. I would think that you're kind of pretentious, hipstery person who likes things that are out there, edgy in artsy way, also analytical, and someone who can potentially go into whole filmmaking thing. but again whenever i see someone with kubrick favorite - it's a kind of 50-50, they can be really cool, but they can be someone who really wants to be seen as cool, which makes them bit obnoxious. i don't know your camp, but with username-lighthouse connection i choose to believe you're in first camp.
@@ivansaric90 i wasn’t expecting this kind of response but i honestly appreciate how much thought you’ve put in it lmao. but i got to say .. ‘sirène’ is not just a username but it’s my actual name 💀 still a really cool connection with one of my favorite films though. i also am pursuing filmmaking as a career and 2001: a space odyssey was actually one of the first films that made me appreciate cinema as a whole, even though i’m not a huge kubrick fan.
