ABOUT TOMMY IGOE
Tommy Igoe is one of the world's most prominent drummers and bandleaders. He began drumming at the age of 2 and has gone on to craft a unique and diverse career, traveling the world with Art Garfunkel, Blood Sweat and Tears, Dave Grusin, Stanley Jordan, and the New York Voices amongst many others others.
For the last six years, his Birdland Big Band has been the most popular weekly music event in New York City, maintaining it's Friday residency at the iconic Birdland Jazz Club. In 1997, he created the drumset book for "The Lion King" on Broadway also serving as principal drummer and conductor. Igoe is dedicated to world-class music education, writing some of the world's best-selling books and DVD's and is a globally in-demand clinician.
He currently lives in San Francisco where his new band, The Tommy Igoe Big Band, enjoys a weekly residency at the Rrazz Room.

So great to hear this Oliver Nelson arrangement. It`s on the Buddy Rich Swinging Big Band cd track 11. Tommy really swings this chart and drives the band like Buddy did. Excellent big band with great soloist.I hope more people are into this great music. Keep doing it Tommy!

What's that spiraled cymbal to his right? It looks like he cut a cymbal in a spiral pattern and let it dangle. Seems interesting.
There used to be a drum shop in Van Nuys, Ca., called Valley Drum City and on the front of the shop was a large sign that said: Have Fun Pay Drums. Tommy Igoe embodies that sign.
I don't know how much I dig his crash ride. I have the K Custom High Def... it's puuuure sex. AMAZING

He's a monster, killer feel and chops. However, I've listened to LOTS of his videos and I think he would be better served with slightly heavier or larger cymbals.

Why a metal drummer? It could very well be from a non-musician. Who knows and who cares? Just enjoy the music and go see live music as much as possible, whatever style it is. :-)
Perhaps a metal drummer should deal with such times closer swings and grooves as always to cut it only
