Drummer: which one of you trumpets is going to take lead on this song?
Trumpets: yes.
I’ve known James for almost 30 years now, 6 of those years I worked for him as a full time employee. Whether he is flying an aircraft, rebuilding a computer, driving a race car, sailing a yacht across the Tasman sea, or playing any wind instrument known to man, he has never, ever, been puzzled about anything, on or off stage...
¹¹11
Are you his son?
This quickly went from the Flinstones to an amazing trumpet battle
Back row politics. Preferably live.
Yabba Dabba Doo
With who though? Lol. James and Thomas? Or free for all with all the trumpets lol.
Sometimes it takes a full band to produce such a high quality rip
Lol
I can't begin to imagine what this sounded like in person being in that audience, it must have been like cloud nine!
The dude on the bass is absolutely killing it!
Yes!!! I was fixated on the rhythm section the whole time! Bass player was in the zone.
Needed a finger transplant shortly after.
That conversation between James and Thomas is so good, I always come back for that.
the trombone player looks genuinely scared and confused
i was about to say the same thing hahaha x'D
You mean the guy at 2:42 looking on in disbelief? Yep.
I dont think he saw that many trumpets before in his life... legend says hes still shocked from that seeing that much
@@chrisjung1309 He's not scared, just demented. That's Leonhard Paul of Mnozil Brass. He always look like that!
Did you see all the notes he had to play around 1:10? Who wouldn't look that way?
6:08 When you stub your pinky toe against a chair so hard it slides across the room.
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂
Your pinky toes slide across the room?
@@mocapre2797 Isn't that normal? Mine do.
4:45 , the warmup at the region band tryouts
That Bass trombone player with the glasses behind them is beyond confused.
MrHestichs I know 😂 i was dying so fucking hard
Pretty much
hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Dude this comment is legendary.
I feel like the whole time james and the other guy with the rotary horn are soloing their just looking at each other saying "bet"
Yes, Thomas gansch.
Yeah
This man has the face of someone who knows he’s the best and wants to see others be better than him
That drummer is sweet! james morrison always killing it! this whole tune just swings!
The first trombone's face gets me every time.
Wow, what exceptional playing by all, such a good feeling of "togetherness". As i brass player myself I commend these unfathomable players for their superior excellence!
Fantastic!
Big band versions of songs:
Intro, improv/screaming part, chorus, the rest improv/ awesome playing finish with the end of the the song ;D Love all of the players on stage haha
Passion, inexhaustible temperament, fiery expression and inspiration !!! Bravo!!!
3:08 that trombone player was mortified
Thats Leonard Paul, an insane trombone Player from Mnozilbrass- you should look them up :)

What a great sound from this big band. Wow!
Waaaoooo it feels good. Thanks
Time and time again, I find myself coming back to the one video that's motivated me beyond anything else possible throughout my trumpet playing:
THIS VIDEO
The most amazing, inspiring thing I've ever heard. Jesus, to play with HALF of this skill...
@@chickenstrips4404 let us hear something then
sad chicken mans no you can’t. you in no way can do that. not a chance on earth. james morrison is literally recognized as god in the world of music.
@@chickenstrips4404 - How about being more humble?
Lmao guys that was a very bad joke I tried to make when I was 11, I was full of myself and un-funny when I commented that
@@chickenstrips4404 okay, but what was the joke though
There's a funny joke my band director says to trumpet players. He says something like
"How do trumpet players screw on a light bulb? They hold the bulb up and wait for the world to revolve around them."
Funnier when he says it
Wow! Simply extraordinary.
Example of a masterpiece!!
I could watch this video, one time after another!
I had only seen Morrison on the title when I clicked the video. It was when I saw Gansch creeping out from the back that I knew where this was heading.
trumpet battle! i love this it sounds so lovely as a trumpet player myself
I worked with him and Emma once mate a few years back in Italy, a total star and all round good lad.......... He is so much more than a great musician. A lovely wife too ;-)
awesome talents combined. so much fun!
This was the craziest quintet I have ever heard. Amazing. Timing...timing, timing, timing.
WILMA!
Love it when this is played by an outstanding brass section!
Thet thar bent up Buster Scruggs horn (the second one) had such a warm tone. Smooth, fat and fine, jerst like wine.
Thomas has such pop and projection in his sound. It's crazy!
かっこいいなぁ。惚れるわ。、
Ammazza che bravo sembrate soldati in guerra non lasciate spazio agli avversari siete bravissimi.
These guys love blowing their own trumpets
Mind-boggling!!

The bass bone players face= priceless.... He's like "man I wish I played trumpet in primary school!!"
1:42 to 1:48
Straight Gold
+Cody Jeter I think 0:00 to 1:42 and 1:48 to 6:38 are gold also :^).
Amazing!
THAT WAS NUTS!!!! WHOOOOOOAAAAAAAA! I didn't think it was legal for trumpets to go up that high. One (or all) of them hit the dog-whistle register at one point.
That is one high-energy piece. Phew.
Gotta eat some wheaties before playing this that's for sure
AMAZING!!!! super cool))) i can't find the right words)))
Just off the chart. Amazing
Pure joy. Love it.
I get my new trumpet this week or next cool big jazz band
I saw James Morrison live once!
James und Thomas sind 2 coole Urviecher..... :-)
Und: Ein sehr originelles Probespiel!
Great! There was a small jazz club called Daisy's Basement that used to have the house band jam with this. That was over thirty years ago.
wow good music
2:54
that trombone player be like
'can you believe this guy'
That Gillespie Trumpet is incredible and has been well loved.
Popped up in my feed following listening to "Wild Party" ~ Buddy Bregman.
When I clicked on, I could have sworn it was Ed Shaughnessy (RIP) on drums.
Unos duros. Felicitaciones.
