I would say turn your screen brightness down a bit :-) but I understand where your coming from. Following the mouse around the screen can be a bit of a headache.
SHANE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got it all sorted.... but the only thing I dont understand is... UNLESS you have an E-Mail Address - column in the SPREADSHEET with email in them.... How do we send all those emails out to certain addresses !?!?!?!?!?!?
This demo only allows all documents to be send to one individual say secretary do they can print off and send via postal mail and not electronically. Spending docs individually could make you seen as a spammer by your e-mail host.
The best thing for this is to setup a mysql server and point your Libreoffice Base application to use it. That way multiple people can open up the odb file on their deskrop and all have access to the central DB. As for updating multiple patients records. Of course you will need to have some form of refresh of the data if you are only using one static form.
I'm using Libreoffice 4.2.8.2 and there's no option for creating a database on Calc, only the other things like spreadsheets. Does this mean I can't use the mail merge feature?
@@shanepiper Let me know if you ever redid this one as I would love to view it, it looked as if the information was going to be great, it just made me dizzy trying to watch it.
If you were setting up a small free clinic where you would have approximately 3 people input data, name, address.... How could store this in a central location and use LibreOffice as the front end. When the patients come in you could bring up their record and do updates or create new records if needed. I saw several video on creating databases and that could help toward this goal. The centralizing is a problem
I think you are misunderstood the video here, the purpose of mail merging in Libreoffice is not to read .eml files and merge them but to create say a document that is to be mailed to multiple customers. Eg, a debt demand letter to say 200 people stored in a database. Mail Merge makes it easy to pick up addresses and send email, not merge actual emails.
Your database must contain a field for the recipients' email addresses to work properly for an emailshot. The Lastname field (at 12:23) is not a valid email address!
Somehow it making me sick doesn't even annoy me as much as the mouse jumping around the screen. If it's going to follow all of the mouse's jittery movements, it could at least keep the thing centered.
@@shanepiper Well, no, not really :) I'm still trying to use content from the internal Libre Base in MailMerge, but I can't find the right Dataformat/Protocol to do so. However, I'm still in the beginning of using LO, so there's hope I'll get it (after decades of working with databases and about to abandon FileMaker).
crazy headache just watching this, but still informative

wilson raj Why comment on a video that was posted over 5 years ago. Makes no sense. Did you find it useful though?

Nice instructions. However, I'm getting a migrane after looking at your video.
I am sure it can be done yes, all you would need to do is subtitute the address fields for what ever information you want.

I tried to watch it but with the screen bouncing around so much it was impossible to follow
Yeah sorry about that did that video years ago. It followed the 🐭 lol

I'm SICK from watching the screen....... motion sickness............YAAARGGGGHH!
Tell me something I don't already know.
Your lost spare set of keys are under the couch.
Dan Harville Jr. Thanks found them :-)
Please don't use 'follow the mouse' recording mode.... I can't watch more than a couple of minutes of this without feeling sick, haha
Neither can I, guess I'll have to do it again full screen 😜

This vid would have been SO much better had the screen not kep jumping al over the place. Its to hard to follow.
It sure would have lol
Sorry!,....i wasn't trying to downplay it....still very imformative none-the-less!!!!
Please let me know if this video is doing your eyes in and I will redo it with a static display.
