  • The VHS era rose quickly in the early 70's when there was a Blockbuster on every street corner only to die off with the advent of the DVD in the early 2000s. But VHS is rising from the ashes like a Phoenix, being relived and retooled by the most dedicated and rabid fan base of its kind.

Great little slockumentary and there is so many aspects to cover about a super popular era that lasted a relatively short time in the whole scheme of things. My friends and I were interested in classic horror from the 30's all the way up to the mid 80's or so. I didn't have the coin to buy a VHS machine but I soon saved it up when I started noticing stores selling all those public domain Bela Lugosi films for 99 cents or a little more. Wow, I could actually own a Lugosi film for only a buck! Then Chaney Jr. and Karloff and Carradine and all who were involved in the PD at some point. Of course the other beauty was with VHS came the portable video cameras and then those of us who were budding filmmakers so we thought, were ripe for our own small film making projects. It was an exciting time.

I grew up next to a "Video Giant," which was a knockoff blockbuster video, that had a huge separate horror section, made to look like a "haunted house" complete with creekity wooden floors, cobwebs and even the crypt keeper popping up out of a coffin everytime you'd walk in. So needless to say i loved it and one summer my buddy and i, we couldn't have been older than 10, took turns renting every single horror movie, at least 1 a day, because back then non new releases were only a quarter lol

I had no idea Phil collected Vhs tapes, thats so cool! My only complaint would be the lighting is a bit to dark somtimes, but other than that this is Great!

I used to make a fortune off of selling copies of the VHS tapes. Wish I had some of my older ones. I could make a fortune off of them now here. Because there's people out here that collects these things. Wow, you know what? I still have a bunch of v h s tapes, laying around my house here and d v d's blue rays and cassettes and albums
