    -------------------------
This is it... This year, 2022, the emblematic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is celebrating its 50th anniversary. We knew the previous generation Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin, the 15202ST with its calibre 2121, was to be replaced. And its replacement is here...
Meet the all-new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202ST... All new? Well, in terms of design, shapes and dimensions, not really. In fact, the new 16202ST is almost entirely identical to the previous generation 15202ST (as you'll see in our video, as we compare the 16202ST to the 15202ST), with only subliminal differences.
Mechanically, this is another story, as the 2022 Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202ST comes with a brand new movement, designed and manufactured in-house, the Calibre 7121. A modern engine, still extra-thin, still automatic, it features multiple upgrades such as a longer power reserve, an increased frequency and (finally) a quick-set date.
We explain everything about the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 16202ST, and how it compares to the now-discontinued Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 15202ST, in our latest video review!

Main gripe as an owner myself is the hour and minute takes one FULL wind to move an hour. Good thing theres the 10 -12 date movement to push forward the date or im fucked without a watch winder

Beautiful watch! But I agree on the 50 years rotor, it just doesn't look right on such a classic piece. They could've done better imho. Glad that there will be a regular rotor from 2023 on. Great for collectors, but I wouldn't need it. Unfortunately the price is too much out there. Yes, an AP wasn't never really affordable but the latest MSRP's are just ridicoulus if you ask me. It's really a high end piece but imho it's not a 32k € watch at all. Especially considering the fact that they still use quite a lot of old parts and that the movement doesn't really have any complication worth mentioning. But hey... the watch will probably sell above retail anyways so in the end it doesn't really matter in real life conditions...

Lol not probably sell above retail price. It confirm above retail price by at least 500% 🤣

Not sure about that “50 years” engraving on the winding rotor, seems kinda gimmicky to me. But that’s in keeping with APs latest design trends i guess

Beautiful as always. But if it doesn’t have the cal 2121 it is not a True Jumbo, it is just another Royal Oak.

Agreed. The thick rim of the new movement's balance also reminds me of those in pin-pallet dollar watches.

let me chip in here as an owner of 15.202ST.. I welcome the new changes to the Jumbo lineup. The previous caliber was infamously unreliable and highly fragile. Also it was made by JLC in almost the same way as when it first was created in the 70s. Hence the number of movements they could dish out was notoriously little which also resulted in very few releases. A bad thing if you are in market to purchase one, a good thing if you managed to snag one.
If the new in-house movement equates a more reliable and tough movement, and hopefully increased production numbers, then that can only be a good thing for the long term. AP was smart here, they didn't mess with the overall visuals, but that 50 rotor is meh. If i was feeling selfish Id wish they didn't have it in blue with the tapisserie... that would've propelled the predecessor watch into stratosphere valuations.
As for the 15.202 i see it following a similar path as say a Zenith Daytona...a very specific oddity that will always have its own little corner of the collector world but not necessarily consideration for someone looking to acquire the jumbo for the first time.

I for one am so grateful (and relieved) that they didn’t mess with the Jumbo design for the 50th anniversary. I have started my begging again with my AP SA since I never made the cut for the 15202. 🤣🤣🤣 Sounds like I may get allocated for an ROC instead, which I can still handle. But one day, the Jumbo shall be mine! 😬😬😬

With all due respect for consistency and as much as I like the look of this watch, it is just not for me for two (incl. price and availability four reasons):
    1. Lack of a second hand - just cannot stand being shown minutes and hours only and have to guess the seconds
    2. 5 ATM water resistance - not enough for a steel sports watch these days, should be min. 10 ATM in my opinion
Oh, what about the material of the 50 Years rotor - is it white gold?!
