Never separate yourself from the group in the wild, is the basic lesson.
Not unless a person is ready for a long term stay. At least that guy had guns and ammo and bear meat.
They should've just unloaded some bear meat and took a trip back for it. Leaving a human behind makes no damn sense.
the animals could have take it but that’s what i am saying as well. Predators could take and rip through the bag. But i think the tides was to high so they probably should have left it.
What makes sense is that Adrian murdered Garrett.. Garrett lived on the water and found floating in a lifejacket improperly fastened..not likely..where was Adrian's lifejacket? The Alaska state trooper said Hagan never made it back to the Abundance then who raised the anchor Adrian seen hanging off the front through the rifle scope.. ever try carving anything a gun stock with a hunting knife and why so much of a detailed message. Why would you only build a small fire if your stranded and collect wood for 2 or 3 days what was he buying time for? Why not a bonfire? How does one stand in freezing water for 3 1/2 hours in jeans skinning a bear..anyone see a carcass? How did the skiff and kayak tied together get separated ? Alaska shipwreck website listed the Abundance burned and sank in Behm canal.. btw this story says 300 lb of meat other stories say 600 to 700 lb ... Why did he stay within a mile? Why did the coast guard helicopter report they found Adrian wandering aimlessly in the woods .. why does Adrian always look down while talking about Garrett ? He is shaking his head no while talking about what happened because body language is telling you that is not as it happened..Adrian Knopps is a liar a murder and a thief and now his prayer is answered from jehova time to go to prison Adrian
I don't understand why this wasn't further investigated by police. Aside from the fact that Garrett was aboriginal and in many such cases cops don't care.... I mean the story makes no sense.
1) They said no foul play. But Garrett was found with his life vest on. How does a person drown with their life vest on?
2) Garrett took all the meat, rather than leave some & take Knobbs which would make more sense as more hands to unload = faster, as he left.
3) Garrett left his rifle with Knobbs. What hunter leaves his rifle in the remote wilderness? No one. He'd know if he ran into possible trouble (e.g. a bear) he may need it.
4) Knobbs reasoned within an hour or so that Garrett was dead. Who thinks that way? Most would assume Garrett's tied up, maybe the boat got snagged, and he's delayed.
More than likely Knobbs, been a sheltered city boy, experienced "cabin fever" and in an argument drowned Garrett. The life vest was on weirdly so it's very possible rigor mortis had set in when he was trying to get it on the body. Then realizing just what he'd done he shoved the boat + bear + body down the river.
Also note 2 days after the Abundance was found adrift bi the wilderness adventure the 22nd of Sept it burned and sank in Behm canal on the 24 the Sept according to the Alaska shipwreck website.. my gut says it was Adrian's boys .. I'd like to contact Garrett's father and let him know my intention
It makes perfect sense when your covering up a murder..if the ocean kayak was found on a beach how did it get separated from the skiff? If the skiff indeed capsized and sank the kayak would still be attached no? ASP said Hagan never made it back to the boat how did he see the big anchor hanging off the bow through his rifle scope 2-3 miles away? Who pulled the anchor?
It’s so bizarre the way Garrett vanished. They should have left the kayak for Adrian just to be safe and made several trips for the meat.
If your skiff couldn't handle 300lbs of bear meat, wtf was your moose plan?!
this channel is amazing, shows real stories.. one can watch anywhere around the world and understand their accent with the help of subtitles. Pain and Survival stories are really meaningful for the people who ends up their life thinking without (this or that) they shouldn't be alive... but fighting against threat of death is the real act of bravery.

This guys story isn’t lining up. The first thing that’s off is why he took the guns and survival gear to lessen the weight. A bear hide is way heavier than all that. Why not take some of the meat and hide with you on land and come back for the rest? The memorial for his friend the first night? 99% of people who don’t see someone die assume that they are alive in these conditions. He seems to fake being upset but really on a calm day who drowns. Even in an overloaded boat I’ve fallen into much worse without a life preserver and survived in the middle of winter. They should investigate this again. Also knowing he was dead after an hour…nope that’s not right.
Being in a remote area especially with bears and your toting meat across the water and he says that he left his rifle with him? I like to hunt and I'm not in Alaska, but I can tell you I'm not leaving my rifle with no one
foul play he killed his friend
Same thing I was thinking. This guy killed his friend an got away with it
This guy must have friends in law system cause he killed that guy for sure
To let the people know if you watch Coast Guard Alaska they have an episode as to what happened to the young man and how they rescued Adrian. As the Coast Guard Alaska looked for the skiff and the blue kayak it was overturned and Garrett was nowhere in sight. Adrian, Garretts father, and mother went back to the place where Adrian was found and said their goodbyes and knew that Garrett was where he loved to be. The father did get his sons gun back with and inscription as a remebrance. R.I.P. Garrett for you loved the outdoors so much and God took you home. Watch the next episode it will give you all more insight.

Wow. Pretty cool running across one of the episodes from my hometown. I'm from Ketchikan. I recognized that mountain and knew he was going to say KETCHIKAN!!!

Why was Garrett's body found 30 miles south at Fox point and the ocean kayak found in burrows bay 15 mi north of where Adrian was found..said he carved a message in Garrett's rifle to ascertain what happened to Garrett then hung his rifle in a tree.. why would he use words like guile and ascertain ? Smart guy ..I received junk mail from lazyboy a place I've never set foot in but is 8 miles from his house ..the address contains the same numbers as his residence 8439 is the store 8493 is his house..he found a competent competitor in his mind game
If the bear had been eating salmon why would Garrett Hagan kept the meat any Alaska native knows it's no good.. I don't believe Adrian's story about Garrett shooting a bear the only reason he said this is to put responsibility toward Garrett to make up this ridiculous story.. Adrian put himself in the skiff after setting up the abundance to sink because he couldn't replace the fuel it took to dump Garrett's body so far away
...in addition any Alaska native know the meat is no good when bears are eating salmon so Garrett would have never shot the bear.
Yeahhh guns weigh almost nothing. Something is fishy. You would never leave your friend like that. EVER.
The survivor had The Guns in case of bears or wolves. What use or need do the other man would had had of them? What should survivor have done - swam to the boat through currents in icy, cold water, risking The life of both of them? ? It would have been supid. As he said he fouhgt through The ordeal to tell their families What happened. Unloading some meat would have been a great idea, 300 pound is quite a heavy load in a small boat.
I have heard so many stories and I will never understand why even when they're still physically safe folks break such an important rule and split up.......

As a hunter I would never leave my rifle with someone else, I'm not even in Alaska and wouldn't do that, anything can happen in remote areas
“more than likely” seems like a stretch
the fact that he took both guns and sent him off ring alarm bells to me, im not a hunter but im pretty sure they dont leave with out a gun
You don't
Do a Google search put in Adrian Knopps Alaska and you'll see many different stories of this story especially the 2 radio talk shows
Espically when he said to "lighten the load" on the boat... dude, it's a rifle... what difference is that going to make? Also he almost got killed by a grizzly! I'd want my damn gun 😂
not sure you'd need a gun to protect yourself on a skiff or boat unless bears attack boats. It seems that he was just focused on getting that meat home and all other considerations went out of the window
This story Hella fishy he's body was found with a life vest on do so he would of had to die of hypothermia not drowning and idk how that boat would of cap sized and bear meat doesn't weigh more than a 200 pound or.more person with guns

Exactly what I thought ! Experienced fisherman with boating experience and his friend is sure he was dead after not coming back for him in an hr ? Very strange !
@@handyscapersllc who knows maybe jealous of his life, trying to take his wife
Yea he killed that dude....
The logic in leaving someone behind in a remote place with grizzlies is astoundingly stupid. The bear meat could've waited for a return trip (if it were possible). Doesn't make sense for experienced outdoorsmen to do such a hazardous thing. I don't think he killed his friend, as others believe. Just extremely poor judgments were made. Almost bordering on stupidity. Plus he leaves his gun? What sense did that make?
The whole story is suspect. The guy was an experienced boater and hunter from Alaska but didnt know how to wear a life preserver properly? Fell into the water while stepping from the skiff to the boat?
Exactly-there would be no reason to leave both guns-it would be imperative to have one each. And i also thought the 2 men staying together was more important than the bear meat.
Garett's body was found in september of 2013. No foul play was evident.
i think he capsized ,,.the weight of his quarry was too much
He shoulda got vaxed and triple boosted. That’s what ya get
I was born and raised and still live in AK. OOS (out of staters) need to be extra prepared visiting AK. So many of those from the lower 48 die here. Even those from here die extremely. A friend of mine, a hunter and avid outdoors man was killed by a bear not far from his home. Beware coming to AK....you may die!
He said it was 60 degrees, could he have swam to the bigger boat? What did he say? A mile and a half? I think I would try to swim to it?
Why has he given up on his friend so quickly, and why is a healthy hunter with 2 guns and a fire, water, animals. Potrayed so vunerable?

Why didnt he swim to the boat?
I can’t believe he left his friend in the middle of no where to take the meat
Yeh that dumb
Yeah great friend
“After about an hour I knew he had died...” WHAT 🤣 that is a crazy assumption to make.
not at that place. If fact, it is a very reasonable assumption.
@@zinnmarx nope, even under those circumstances and even if one would assume that, the next thing one would think of would be, what can i do!?!to get to my friend, regardless..any reasonable, decent individual would get in that line of thought!! 😒😒🙄🙄😖😖
It’s really not. He could see from where he was all the way to the boat. He couldn’t see his friend. It’s more of a crazy assumption to think he just disappeared right in front of his eyes. It’s very logical to think something had happened when he could no longer see him. It’s all logical 🤦♀️
Why he took the 2 guns and didn’t give his friend one why he was crossing the river and why did he give up on his friend so early? That’s suspicious 🤨.
He kept the guns because he was staying behind on land occupied by bears and wolves whereas his friend was on a boat that was heavy with bear meat so wouldn't want or need the pointless extra weight. They both knew that he was relying on his friend coming back to get him because that was his only way of getting back to the boat and safety. So that urgent need to be picked up quickly means that his friend not coming back straight away indicated that something bad must have happened to him. Not sure what you mean about the river.
2 men alone in the woods is sus to begin

ok, so before watching the full episode, 11:00 id assume not having the rifle led to a negative outcome. it makes no sense to leave both rifles with Adrian. its not like a 10 pound rifle was going to sink the boat...
Not in normal but the boat was heavily overloaded.
@@sexysilversurfer yeah i made that guess before watching the full episode. my guess was that not having the rifle meant he was unarmed and attacked by a bear or something, which ofc wasnt what happened.
No the 300lbs of bear meat is what sank the boat
I am not suggesting anything but to me this story causes alarm bells to ring in my head as an interrogator. I would love to interview this guy and would be interested to know if he was questioned by law enforcement/intelligence.

Yea, I think he knows what happened to his friend.

Lost a friend at the mall yesterday. After an hour I assumed he was dead and went on about my day
👍🏼
If the kayak rolled in the swells and became a sort of anchor it could have dragged the skiff down at the motor end and the cold water would have ended life within 15 minutes or so?
How can he assume his friend being dead? The first thing a normal person would think is that he would have ran away with my freaking boat.
They were best friends, of course he didn't assume that he ran off
@@Meghnaaad sorry for whatever you have gone through that made you end up thinking this way

I was pretty young when I last saw him and 14 when we moved to AZ but I remember goin to my folks house to visit them a few years back and they were taking about him and what had happened in Alaska
So this story is real? It makes literally no sense to me, how can a guy drown when he has two boats, a life jacket in a really calm lake. This story doesn’t add up about what happened to his friend. After an hour not seeing his friend, he just surmised that his friend was dead? Why would that thought even come to his mind, and how would he know so soon that his friend was dead if he didn't kill him himself? This story stinks of a cover up. I bet he killed his friend in a freak accident.
Well yes a technical problem doesn't mean dead. Maybe he knew the boat was tipsy and might cap side
They say they found no signs of foul play. But the investigators probably forgot about "cabin fever" people in remote areas can suffer from. Knobbs may have not shot his friend but drowned him - Garrett was found with his life vest on, how can you drown with a life vest on? - and shoved the boat + bear + body away.
As someone mentioned in another post it doesn't make sense why would Garrett take off with all the bear meat & leave Knobbs rather than leave some meat & possibly come back? Why would the friend give away his gun. If Garrett happened to run into trouble himself on taking the meat he may have needed that gun. The fact that Knobbs reasoned Garrett was dead within an hour or so is ridiculous. Anyone else would assume Garrett had run into some trouble - maybe the boat got snagged somewhere - and he's delayed.
Please stop saying these awful things! He did no such thing

Wow what a hero....with a gun against a unsuspecting being.
From what I have heard over the years. LOTS of people just go missing in Alaska.. Alaska is sparsely populated but more and more people seem to go missing on a regular basis. It is very sad but I suspect that hungry predators are to blame for much of the missing people. So very sad that Garrett vanished like that. My heart goes out to his family.
They go missing a lot in BC Canada too, which is south of Alaska between Alaska and DC..
@@MaryJane-qq9mmtotally. I’m in BC. When camping in the woods, I sleep with bear spray and my shotgun. Hopefully, I wake up in time to use them!
I will NEVER make an ex parte conclusion on anything before every conceivable question I have is prepared, answered and cross checked. That said, my 30th year in homicide and a lifetime in the New England woods, tell me that this unfortunate event, as it’s explained, doesn’t hit my ear quite right. What really pulled the fire alarm is that the anomalies are seated in the FBI’s worst possible suggestive categories for violent crime: practicality, logic and decision-making.
Once again, this implies absolutely nothing beyond my reaction. I’m sure that all pertinent questions were asked by competent professionals and all respective responses were examined fully. My comment is about me and my unexpected gut reaction. That reaction is nothing more than what happens when a dozing dog hears another dog barking on the TV. It startled me. I’m glad it takes tangible evidence to prove guilt because tragedies that sound like this DO actually happen sometimes and can easily put blinders on an investigator, making them oblivious to the truth as they pass it by.
I am an outdoorsman, but no, I don't like to kill. Not everybody who loves the outdoors needs to be a hunter and have got to shoot those beautiful anumals. Hunting is a necessity of life in AK especially fishing. But, even in the lower 48 it's a way to put food on the table. Hunting is the primary way of keeping all forms of wildlife healthy and abundant in their natural environment. Please do some research on hunting before you blame these hunters for their "awful" decision making. Predator and prey in nature can be cruel, but it's a fight for survival in the animal kingdom. Most human hunters are law abiding ethical hunters, but there will always be some who give hunting a bad wrap. Please don't look at these two guys with a negative attitude. Most bear hunters want the trophy and nothing more. These guys claimed the meat. They weren't hunting for just the trophy, but even if they were it would be legal. Do some research please as I think you'll be surprised at what you will learn.

There's no way there was only 300 pounds of meat on that bear, so I'm willing to bet they'd already left a lot for the other predators to enjoy. They were doing what respectful and responsible hunters do, which is to make use of as much of the animal as possible.

If you get stranded and have a bunch of meat in the alaskan wild, can you keep the meat in the cold water to slow it from going bad? When Garrett left wasn't he wearing a life jacket? It seems like if you could see the big boat then you should be able to see your buddy somewhere nearby.
Right! His disappearance is so strange.
You can if it’s in water tight containers. Water directly on meat promotes bacterial growth.

Like if he killed his friend then he didn’t think it through at all cause it almost cost him his life. You people saying he did something are short sighted dimwits who just want some drama
Thank you for saying this!
These comments are very hurtful
After listening to this, i cannot help but wonder..if he did something to his 'friend'. It sounds really suspicious..😒🙄😒😖
It seems rather odd to have a memorial, when one does not know, exactly, what.is.happening. I would have tried to look for my friend, at least. Only 'God' knows, exactly.what happened. We. can only speculate..
People spoke highly of Ted Bundy, too, once..only God knows what is in a person's heart and..i hate to tell you if there is a God, you are not it..or me or anyone else, for that matter..😖
"I just loved all the wildlife in Alaska" *proceeds to show pictures of himself posing with all the murdered wildlife*
this is such a realistic and amazing survival story
How did you determine his Amazing survival skills? It left out the last 7 days.
@@marlboromatt5656 Notice that the greedy hunter who shot the unclean bear presumably died. the other guy non greedy hunter and Jesus believing person survived. I didn't judge anyones survival skills but rather the story. nonetheless he was prepared enough to have had a survival belt on him.
@@raw9068 yep def thought the Jesus believing person was going to get struck in the gspot by lightning 💋💋
why wouldn't they just have one person and the meat in the big boat and then the other paddle back in the riff I'm so confused about this suspect story
Poor bear. Presenting no harm whatsoever, ending the life of a living being.
Poor fish presenting no harm whatsoever, their entire families being ripped apart by a grizzly bear....
The motto of the story - Take sandwiches and leave the bears to get on with their lives!
Praying is great
You can tell by the way he explained what happened to his friend, he knows what happened to his friend he is just not saying nothing, he sounds way to unconcerned and relaxed fake acting of emotions, he turned this whole episode into him being a survival hero when in fact this episode should be about what happened to his friend.
How did you come to that conclusion, just by his facial expression or body language? His body was found and there was no foul play, he drowned 🤦🏿♂️
@@mihlalimase6397 from the video I seen he couldn't look at the camera when he talked about his best friend and his head shaking no signal body language of a liar
Look at some stories he told on live radio shows in Michigan and Wisconsin then read some of the other articles one says he was found in a cabin another clinging to a tree roots the coast guard reported he was wandering aimlessly in the woods..said he built a fire under the trees to dry off why not a bonfire out in the open and put anything on it to make smoke..anyone who has spent their life in when woods as he states should know where to look for dry kindling to build a fire..said he was scared of wolves and bears..he had 2 hunting rifles..and last why carve such long messages on hunting rifles sounds like someone with a lot of time on their hands besides doing 2 in a day who is he geppetto?
@@mihlalimase6397 he drowned in a lifejacket
D Martino...Do you Own a pair of jeans. Ever time I see you you focus on yourself. It's Not about you. Ditch the shorts.
Why could you kill a bear?? That’s horrible!
I'm sorry, but does anyone know the song name that starts playing at 11:34? I recognize it from another video, but neither videos provide links or anything of the sort to lead me to the music. I hope this messages finds its way to someone who can assist me. Many thanks.

i like the cs 1.6 AK sound when he shoots the gun
Hunter left for dead is always funny 😂😂😂
Poor Bear xx
Heck ya, we lived on our fishing boat, fishing in the PNW for about 20 years. Loved it.
Why he didn't even try to swim boat Was insight😂❤
I believe in every word he has spoken, because he is Jehovah's witness.
He knows what happened to his friend. When he talks to the interviewer about his own experience about the water rising etc, he looks the interviewer in the eye, but, when he talks about his friend, his eyes are constantly looking at the floor. He also has a very slight smirk when talking about his friend.
Adrian kept my aunt's location and contact from me while she was in the hospital.. he was her power of attorney he sold her van logged our woods and stole a multi-million dollar property that was left to me by my aunt.. I never got to say goodbye.. I drive over the road and as a frontline worker I was not allowed to visit..but he never gave out the location of where she was or even let me speak to her before she passed away..
Oh no….CZcams body language expert here!

Same thing happened to me.. except it wasn't a bear, it was a load of peach cobbler, and my friends name was Luigi and he wore a green cap everywhere he went...
It’s just sad that the bear was living its life until dirty humans intervene
They were playing like they’re the government.
bears are hunted for food, they are not an endangered species.
@@ymimad49 Humans aren't endangered either
I thought nobody would comment on the poor bear! Come on humans, enough already! Thrive on plants, will ya!
@@MaryJane-qq9mm good, seems like the more humans that bears can kill the better. I’m tired of the foolish and ignorant fools who voice where our nation goes while they don’t have the economic understanding of a 2 yr old
At first I thought people in the comments were overreacting but then I watched it and heard his story. I don't know that I've heard a more suspicious story. He jumped to the immediately conclusion that his friend is dead? He held a memorial? I know people react differently in times of stress but jeez, come on.... I think whether it was an accident or intentional, he may have killed his hunting partner and covered it up as best he could. Super sus.
I had the exact same thought. Why, after half an hour of not seeing your friend, would you immediately believe him to be dead?
@@mikemiller5637 the boat was in eyesight? A trip that should of taken no longer than an hour. If that was my best friend I'd assume he was dead aswell as there is no way in hell he would just abandon me in the wilderness
Makes no sense on how he would die tho
@@marcus221096 well he could of been injured. why assume hes dead. i get your point though
I don't understand, how did that guy die in such calm water? He had two different boats, even if one capsized he could just hold onto it? Also he was wearing a life jacket, it makes no sense at all. A dude had two boats in really calm water, a life jacket and he died? Why would the guy even assume he died? I'm so confused.
Link to part 2 please?
That’s karma for hunting beautiful animals!!
