There's more details below, but I just wanted to quickly say ~thank you~ for watching my video. Please comment below and share your thoughts. Or just take a second and say 'Hey'. I'd love to hear from you. Cheers!

I just got this exact car (LE) and I love it. Yes, the acceleration really isn't there, but as it's been pointed out the isn't a sports car and isn't designed for that kind of torque. I wasn't looking for power I was looking for fuel economy and I only spend about $30 a week in gas. My average mpg is 32.8 and that's all city as I haven't taken it on a long distance trip yet. What an awful review. Not sure what this guy is expecting from a base Corolla. You can get a 2.0 engine with Direct-shift CVT (has a physical first gear for better of the line acceleration) if you want more power (not that you need it). Regardless of trim Corolla handles really well and takes corners like a champ. Has great fuel economy and best in class with 2.0 engine. And most importantly as always you’d get that Toyota reliability.

I have a 2021 Corolla LE as well, and I have mixed feelings about it. My main complaints would be the CVT kinda jerks when you try and accelerate from a stop, and overall feels like you have to give it a lot of power to get it to go. The second thing would be when I'm on the highway going 70, the car feels very wobbly. In high winds it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a straight track in the lane. The corolla like in this video is really slow from the go compared to 2005 toyota matrix where its quicker from the go. All my driving between city and highway for the corolla it ranges from 1500 rpms to 2800 rpms including high elevations. On the highway with 2005 matrix, at 75 mph you will be around 3000rpms whereas same speed with this current corolla its 2000rpms and I can even go all the way to 85mph still at 2000rpms whereas the matrix at 85mph you are closer to 4000rpms. For fuel savings corolla all day thats whats its good at hence the price point. I really like the new Corollas, although the base engine is kind of subpar, and it (unfortunately) uses a CVT transmission on most models. I just got out of a 2020 Dodge Charger SXT RWD that I had for a day while my Jeep was being serviced, and we had a 2020 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum AWD for a rental recently as well. I really liked both of them.

Corolla sport trims have a more powerful engine and a different CVT with a first gear. Those are much more fun to drive.

The 1.8 CVT has been around since 2014 and I have not heard any problems. If a person buys the 1.8 with CVT or any corolla trim for racing, then sir or madam you are in the wrong department and wrong brand. Reliability and practicality are the ethos of Toyota sedans especially the corolla.

Great review, and reliability of this Corolla is its claim to fame. At this price point, if one can swallow possible reliability issues, the Kia Soul’s drive train, space, visibility, just makes it a more fun car. We just spent some time in one, POV vid, and was very impressed. Thanks for pointing out that infotainment screen blockage. Noticed the same thing too but none of the other reviewers mention.

The Corolla sports trims have a more powerful engine and a much better transmission with a physical first gear. Corolla sports trim is more fun to drive than a Kia Soul.

@@braetonwilson4296 that’s a good point. The bigger engine they offer is a cut above any non-turbos from Kia. Only drove the sportier version, with the tricked out first gear CVT, a couple times, and it is a very premium and quick feeling car. I think the underrated version is the larger engine manual transmission hatchback. That is a hoot to drive and hope some folks buy them to keep the manuals coming.
