IMO put a hoodie or a t shirt onto the targets. I'd like to see what the bloom is like on a more "realistic" target. It may obscure it now on a flat piece of relatively smooth cardboard, but what about a wavy uneven more porous surface?
Agreed that would have been a better representation, I did shine the trees and the black backstops though, and although the bloom was less, it still steps up from the Pro when going XL and FP
@@peebreezy5015 I had the same question and looked them up. No, it seems they do not have selectable power settings. Only 1 level of power output per unit. If you need or prefer a particular power level you have to pick the appropriate model and then you're stuck with it.

Dropping banger videos bro for months now! You are really paving a way for the upcoming IR/Laser company’s and reviewing them it’s awesome bro thank you for all the time and work you put into this 🙏😇
I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully the info I put out helps the NV community as a whole. I plan to keep this going for as long as I have the means to.
@@4MRRanch I believe your content is making a difference and giving company’s the necessary information to increase their reliability, designs and performance of their products and expand the market/consumer relationship to the regular costumer like myself who can’t afford a 3-4000 unit.
Thanks for the detailed comparison. I ended up going with a Pro on your testing results. You also called it - the Pro would emit the most balanced performance, and based on your comparison, Rovyvon should really consider lowering the price points on the XL and FP models because these performance differences are negligible or even a downgrade in the case of the IR laser. Plus, a $300 Pro in FDE would be a nice option.
Villain weapon systems is coming out with a focuser for this (allegedly) and if they are successful then the different outputs may be more noticeable/useful
The perfect unit for me would be the full power with the option to dim it. Also with the option to run high illuminator with the low laser to get a more precise aiming point.
Your out here doing the lords work. Got one of their base line models on the way for my mk18. Gonna get another one for my glock soon as well. Been testing out a lot of budget ir lasers to no avail but this one looks promising.
@4MRRanch got it today. Lasers are incredible crisp and not too bright. Light and ir light and decent but I have dedicated weltool lights that put them to shame. All in all seems like an incredible device that's gonna hold up to some abuse.
@4MRRanch update- did not hold zero on my glock 17. It has the updated qd mount and fit on the rail properly. Bummer for sure. Did great on the rifle though. If your in touch with rovyvon at all let them know they need to ditch the qd and give a different mount option.
I have the Surefire, the RovyVon Pro and FP models. Great review! Surefire on my Glock 34, RovyVon Pro 19X and the FP model sits on my CMMG Dissent 6.5" 5.7x28
The laser is very usable in realistic daylight conditions. Don’t expect to see it at 200 yards in bright sunlight, but I could see it fine up to about 100 yards during the day. In indoor daylight you can still get a bit of a laser trail it’s so bright
The FP green laser is a lightsaber as 4MRRanch describes. I purchased the FP for the higher IR power. The 4MR video is an excellent demonstration of its effectiveness.
@@4MRRanchis the FP green laser too much to be practical? Or is it still usable. Was kind of hoping it would have a “BE Meyers GLARE” capability has a visual deterrent, but I don’t want it to be TOO powerful for normal use.
If they reinforced the turrets as they’ve claimed, might be worth it. They have the exact same output as the standard RovyVon, so this video still serves to show you the expected output
For what it’s worth, I just bought a pro directly from RovyVon and it came with the same updated turrets that the Defense Distributors version apparently has. And the adjustments are easy to get used to. It’s just backwards.
I’m just hoping someone comes out with a focusing cap for this thing. I like the flood but wish it was a little more of a hot spot for further distance.
Great review, makes me confident that the base GL4 Pro was the right choice for a sub gun. Have you noticed any of the mounts on your units being crooked once they’re or the rail?
Strange, I got a pro xl, but still got the old version latch without the cutouts. Not the biggest deal since it fits what I bought it for anyways, but still.
I wonder if the GL4 Pro IRH (IR only) would have a better/more focused beam than the ones in combination with a white light. Maybe that's something you could test if you got your hands on one.
Pretty much mostly what you would think of as pistol models. Have a favorite rifle lam right now for value that's more durable than the somo peq? I have one and a ls321 but want another of some sort
@4MRRanch Though maybe I should just have a pistol sized in my closet, have a hobby farm, might be nice on my suppressed 22 for vermin, used the ls321 and a ruger pcc and pvs 14 for a marauding raccoon and was kinda a nuisance sitting with that for a couple hours vs just a pistol at the range I'm using it
I will be, this has been highly requested. Feel free to drop me a dollar a month on my patreon, and after a year I’ll be able to get the buggies and a beer! Lol
I have the Defense Distributors GL4 Pro mounted on a suppressed 300 BLK shorty, it's a nice form factor. I'm looking for an IR / White light unit to use on my suppressed P322 for pest control. Is there a better compact option than the TLR/VIR 2?
It was a loaner, but I see a handful available on Tacswap for well under msrp, otherwise I’d just search Google for good prices if you want to get one from a retailer
defense distributor GL4 its 50 bucks more have you herd anything about it? Next time you do a laser comparison video that might be a nice one to get in. I’ve seen people hyping it on some of the night vision Reddit pages.
There is no change in output on the diodes or lights. They reversed the markings and claim to have improved the turrets. I have not verified first hand,
My understanding is the latest production units have the improved latch. May take time for the existing inventory to die off that still have the previous latch
Wouldn't sunglasses in front of emitter kinda help to tone the lasers down for alignment measurement? Not an engineer here, so i might be pulling these ideas out of my ass😂

Much appreciated, thanks for watching
Real world, the pro seems to have the most useful balance. Again, it would be perfect on KP9, SP5, etc... Great compare brother.
Thanks for watching
Amazing video as always dude. Been subscribed since the first somogear video. Picked up the xl after watching this video.
Prob a good middle ground. Just be careful using it at close range. The laser output is more than capable of damaging tubes.

Villain weapon systems allegedly has one in the works
Can’t decide so ordered a pro and a XL, great review though, thanks for your methodical approach.
XL may be a good middle ground
It would be interesting to see a comparison with the Surefire VIR2 using the EFL Focuser from Darq Insudstries.

Not out of the 3 samples, no

I imagine the existing inventory needs to be bought up before the new latch versions represent all inventory
Awesome!! 😎

I would love to see how these units compare against the Defense Distributors' version of the GL4 Pro, i.e., are the upgrade in the DD version worth it
There is no change in output. Only reversed markings and the claim of reinforced turrets, which I have not confirmed first hand.
I wonder if the GL4 Pro IRH (IR only) would have a better/more focused beam than the ones in combination with a white light. Maybe that's something you could test if you got your hands on one.

Any plan on reviewing the mawl specprecision put out? They claim working Illuminator and coalligned lasers
Will actually be reviewing their DBAL A4, but I’d assume I’ll get to their mawl eventually
@@4MRRanch they just posted a video of their lasers that "appear" to be collimated

The holosun LE321G I posted has 4 outputs and is fairly small, not as small as the GL4 though.
