Essentia Mattress Review: Which Natural Mattress We Chose

A few months ago I did a video on organic and natural mattresses comparing all the different types out there. A lot of you guys liked it so I thought I'd do a follow up video about which one Mike and I ended up purchasing and how we like it. Yes, our second hand pillow top bed that we've been sleeping on for six years definitely needed an upgrade but I knew I didn't want to conventional mattress because they're loaded with flame retardants and petrochemicals and it's just off gases these toxic chemicals all night long. So I knew organic and natural was a way to go, so I did some deep research I looked at a whole bunch of different types and what I found was that the cotton and or wool blend mattresses that were organic cause allergic reactions for me. I would have itchy eyes. I would sneeze so we looked at some other different types, somewhere too hard, somewhere too soft. Well luckily we agreed upon this idea of a natural memory foam. Memory foam must be wonderful for your body, it's just gentler and super comfortable and there is only one company that makes a natural memory foam mattress, and we are lucky enough that there is a showroom here in Chicago, and this brand is called Essentia. So we went to the Essentia store, we tried eight different types of mattresses that they had. A little too soft, a little too firm, just right. They had a phenomenal sales person that helped us really customize what was the best fit for us and we purchase one of these actually we purchased two of them because Mike loves a soft bed and I like a firmer bed. So what we ended up doing is getting two twin Essentias and putting them together in our king bed frame and they fit perfectly and it's seamless. There's no uncomfortable ridge in between the two beds. Our sheets fit right on top of it and it's been awesome. Yes, it's like we created our very own sleep number except without those dials and without inhaling chemicals all night. And I just have to say and here's a tip for you too, if you wake up and you're in the same position that you went to bed in that's a very good sign that you're in a great bed. That's what's been happening to me which is crazy because I'm pregnant to boot. So there you have it. I wanted to again follow up and let you know which beds that we selected. Hi @mamanatural! My husband and I have been turned on to Essentia through you and we are about ready to purchase a mattress (during their Labor Day sale!) but I am so worried about choosing the right one! We've slept on several organic mattresses over the years and we just bought a Saatva natural laytex hybrid but after just one month of sleeping on it we are still waking up sore and in pain. Would you mind sharing which mattress you chose and which one your husband chose? I'm worried about both going too hard and too soft. We are thinking of the REM5 in the fior contour but I'm so hesitant to buy. We've spent a lot of money on natural mattresses, we will need to pay more to return our Saatva, and if we don't like our Essentia it will be over $400 to return it. Just hoping you can share more thoughts! We don't live in a state that has a showroom so we can't even try out any of the mattresses.

You didn’t explain which essential mattress you bought. They have an entire line of different mattresses.

Mama Natural, I'm not sure if you're already aware or care about feng shui, but in feng shui practices, pushing 2 twin beds together causes a split in the marriage. They say the solution is to put a red sheet over both of them which joins the energy back together. I found this out when we used 2 twin box springs under our king bed, so we put a king sized red sheet over both box springs. Hope this helps!
