Why did they mot make it big in music. They are amazing. I was born in 1968 and I’m embarrassed I’ve never heard of them until recently. I hear the song in an Elizabeth Moss series and looked it up.
Outside of Athens, they probably only got radio play on limited indy college-affiliated stations. As late as '82, I'd never heard of them in my neck of the Florida outback, until I stumbled onto a copy of Gyrate at a local record store. The sublime graphic album art sucked me in, not to mention the dryly humorous song titles. Like when I first heard Joy Division, they were a revelation.
Vanessa is now fronting Pylon Reenactment Society, a five piece featuring some of Athens, Georgia's best musicians. They started as a one-off Pylon tribute back in 2015 but are gigging regularly now. They've made a few quick tours up and down both coasts in the last two years. Their sets contain Pylon classics, a song or two from Vanessa's later band Supercluster, and new material written by the new band. Definitely worth seeing. czcams.com/video/yLhQA9rgAKE/video.html

Thanks for posting! Vanessa still plays the Athens area from time to time. I'll certainly miss Randy's extraordinary guitar.
So great!
Vanessa was so fucking cool
This is REAL alternative music! Not like the commercial mainstream shit they consider "alt music" on the radio these days.
This was underground. Even now very few people know of Pylon.
My favorite song by Pylon 🔥🔥🖤🖤

What a spell they cast!

Pylon Reenactment Society is coming to NYC April 2024. I've been waiting to see Pylon live since 1980. Well, I got tickets....holy crap!!!
Have any idea how amazing she was?
The single greatest club band in the history of the world.
Very very true. It was such a treat to see them perform.
Lead guitar sounds like Ricky Wilson of B52s.
Travis Edwards Pylon gyrate and Chomp.
@@jude999 They were friends. Sadly they both died. Randy died of a heart attack while driving around Athens.
perfect
this is amazing!
Que som fantástico! O Baixo então... f0d@!!!!
More whistle!!!!
Pylon was opening up for U2 back in the day and they left the tour because the crowd was not their type
U2 may have started out with promise, but boy did they ever become a completely farcical lot. On the other hand, Pylon will rock on forever.
Joy Division with a female singer.
Travis Edwards it came out in 1979
@@meesalikeu JD were around since 1976
They have a dance feel to their music, Joy Division dont. The only thing I’d compare was the chorus effect on the bass.
bir türk kanalından paylaşılması daha ilginç.
😀
Does anyone know what bass Lachowski's playing in this?
a Teisco.
remind Jesus Lizard
Art school kids do it better, always.
