CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED
Best Athens band and one of the greatest bands ever imo. Vanessa was ahead of her time. I was heartbroken when they broke up in 1983. Their last show was EPIC!
Right when I started at UGA in 1990 Pylon got back together. I saw a few really good shows. Great energy.
real
Them and the B52 s cheers SS
Athfest 2022.
Pylon are so fucking fantastically incredible !!!!!!
B-52s, Pylon, REM. A perfect triangle.
Mitch Easter, Let's Active, Love Tractor = Hexagon
@@ethelwulfmountbattenderoth2286or take Fred out and make a line. ; )
The supreme distinction of being the band that took the stage the latest: after 4:30 at the Peppermint Lounge. Phenomenal Show! 😴
Met them at City Gardens amazing energy we had a great night even after I said you sound like old B52s they were very friendly cheers SS
that song is fantastic.
Pylon never got the recognition they deserved, but right people gave them what they got. This is the best track from Gyrate. Trying to find Chomp on vinyl.
Check out "Beep" from Chomp - should be on every dance mix czcams.com/video/blaq4hdQUTY/video.html
I had Chomp on vinyl about 20yrs ago, but have lost track of it. It's floating around out there somewhere!
I got a minty copy of both Chomp and Gyrate. The person that gave them to me had never heard of em. I was like oh hell yeah. Lol. I'll take em!
@@marksaltveit yes, Beep is the best dance song from the '80s
found a copy on ebay. good luck!
Love that Peavey Bass Amp sound behind Vanessa's voice.
Pylon motivates
Alternative when it meant something...
Well, that was perfect.
up there with gang of four, wire, great angular choppy sound
Were any of them King Crimson fans?
Like the Velvet Underground... not many album sales, but they inspired a generation of bands.
i heart this so much
I love her with all my heart
so in love with them
Starting getting into them through R.E.M..."Crazy"..."Dead Letter Office"...Saw them open for R.E.M....Saw them in some little club in Houston on the second round...One of those low level joints where the band doesn't even have a riser and you can stand right in front of them about three feet away...They were badass...Talked to Vanessa after the show...She was so sweet...This was thirty years ago...If she ever needs me to drive twelve hours and give her a jump start, I am a phone call away...
AWESOME
Great!
Thanks for posting the video. One of the few bands I'm listing to now.
Gyrate= Masterpiece👌☀️🤘👏😎
sometimes when we're remembered something enters the fray

Yeah I think they had just a limited lifetime, but what great they did.

😍
Turn up the volume
Forget the picture
Hugely underrated
High school Rock
This sounds a lot like Minutemen.
There was a video of Pylons last show, during the era where the lead singer was somewhat "skinny" (sorry_) anyways can anyone help me find it before I lose my mind?
Any luck recapturing the video? Your definition of the "era" aside..... The last show of Pylon's first run, in 1983, was apparently fiilmed and taped for a PBS pilot that never aired, but it's a mystery to me how to find it. [Pylon also did a big last show at the 40 Watt at the end of their second run, in 1991, but I haven't heard of that one being recorded.]
The audio recording of the 1983 show resurfaced and was released last year as "Pylon Live," but I didn't think the video had been unearthed. An article on the NPR website included a picture of Pylon performing which was captioned as the only existing photo from that show, a little mysteriously.
But then I read an article from the Atlanta Magazine site about Pylon that ended with the announcement of an upcoming performances by Pylon Reenactment Society, including to my surprise: "The evenings will kick off with video footage from Pylon’s 1983 farewell show at The Mad Hatter."
So it seems that footage is out there somewhere. Maybe it was on CZcams briefly in the past? I'd love to see it and hope it materializes or re-materializes some day outside of what they show at the Pylon Reenactment concerts.
Regarding the '91 show at the 40 Watt, we are all in luck: czcams.com/video/sRMZhrQPSfg/video.html
@@splash733 thanks for finding & getting this link up!!
She has her limits
since when was left up?
The volume knob is to the left of whatever is to the right of it... Perhaps the power button.
@@QuadMochaMatti Actually, I think she means turning the dial knob to the left, as in, "Left of the Dial" where most of the college radio stations were located on an old fashioned analog stereo. Unfortunately, college radio ain't what it used to be. (And turning the dial no longer exists)
Meh
Heh, yeah, pretty much.
I guess some people just don't get it... Sucks to be you.
