- Van Stephenson scored the biggest pop hit of his career in 1984 with this song, the lead single from his second album, Righteous Anger. After that, he seemed to disappear - but in reality, he was writing hit after hit for several country artists, and ultimately formed the '90s country trio, Blackhawk, and finally scored numerous repeated hits.
Sadly, he passed away in 2001 from melanoma - RIP Van, and thanks for the tunes!

Nothing like listening to the vinyl of those songs that made us vibrate 40 years ago. In the wonderful years the fabulous 80s. Very good song at that time everyone was excellent singers not like now.

Excellent beautiful inmortal songs sublime the 80 amazing rules.
Un temazo y buena calidad de audio para sentirlo en un zux999
Oh my goodness gracious bullseye! This is one of the most classic iconic songs of the 80s! Great
AWESOME!!! Glad someone else remembers it!
I once heard this on Flashback Alternatives, where I got hooked on Internet radio back in 2005. Two years later, the CD version of this album was my first purchase on the Internet.
In 1984, I bought a 45 rpm vinyl record of this song and kept it in my treasure box because the song is pure gold.
Here are the lyrics:
“She's a wizard with her shears
She's been turning heads for years
All the darlings and the dears say she's got the touch
An exclusive clientele
Oh she knows each one so well
No one dares to kiss and tell
She knows too much
She's a modern day Delilah
Keeps her scissors razor sharp
Once she finds your weakness
She'll cut you to the quick
Stab you in the heart
She'll love you like a lion
Leave you like a lamb
She's a modern day Delilah
She'll cut you if she can
Oh she's sure what's right for you
Slips it into your shampoo
Only she knows if it's true
Blondes have more fun
When you wake up on the floor
All your strength swept out the door
Take a mirror from the drawer
The damage is done
She's a modern day Delilah
Keeps her scissors razor sharp
Once she finds your weakness
She'll cut you to the quick
Stab you in the heart
She'll love you like a lion
Leave you like a lamb
She's a modern day Delilah
She'll cut you if she can
She's the keeper of secrets
Mistress of lies
You'll see a cold steel blade
When you look into her eyes
She's a modern day Delilah
Keeps her scissors razor sharp
Once she finds your weakness
She'll cut you to the quick
Stab you in the heart
She'll love you like a lion
Leave you like a lamb
She's a modern day Delilah
She'll cut you if she can
She's a modern day Delilah.”
There should be an extended version of this song, but you can create one yourself. Many unofficial extended versions are DIY, and if you were to make one would be easy done on the PC. Back in the tape days of editing, well, I have no idea how hard that was. Before my time.
One of my favorites songs of the 80's! Love to crank this every time I hear it. :)
I love this song!
👍😷🇪🇨.Al fin di con este tema. Aquella década 80's la mejor.😎
I wish this song would become available on iTunes. I would love to have it on my playlist 🎶❤️
Agreed, only the "Suspicious Heart" album is on Spotify, not "Righteous Anger" which I think is a little better.
Super exitazo de los 80s. Lastima que el video oficial no se consiga en excelente calidad.
This song is so amazing. Found it on a miami vice video. Thanks for sharing!
I’d love to know why this song has never been available on Spotify. At least we can listen here!!
This is not the long version, there is none. Maybe the video titled that because it is a full-size 1' (12") at 45 RPM. This is the actual album version from Righteous Anger.
Yes, it is the album version. It is also longer than the single edit, thus making it the "Long Version" as indicated on the label of the record which is shown up close in the first 5 seconds of the video. On the flip side, is the "Short Version" at 3:56 vs this one's 4:17.
I don't make up the version names, the record companies do. On my videos, I use whatever version is listed on the label.
