    Great video, so informative!! I have never done anything like this but need to learn for my job. How do you create the imprint in the petrobond? Do you create it out of something else and then press it in? Or do you use a tool to carve the negative into the petrobond? Also, do you recommend fine or ultra-fine? Thanks!!

    • @MicroMetalCasting
      @MicroMetalCasting  Před 2 lety

      Fine vs ultra fine depends on the level of detail your wanting on your cast. find my Baskar video and watch it. its a good one for how to cast in petrobond.

    Thinking about buying this furnace, and now I'm pretty much sold on it. Thank you for the review! I do have a question, why did the metal change colors once you put it in the water?

    • @MicroMetalCasting

      It does, but just because its still "red" hot

    • @SaltyRad
      @SaltyRad Před rokem

      theres also the added refraction of light being different because of the pocket of air around the metal before it cools down enough for the water make full contact.

    I have a quick question can you smelt iron out of this little guy?

    • @MicroMetalCasting
      @MicroMetalCasting  Před 2 měsíci

      Technically no. Iron requires a heck of a lot more heat and completely different tools and full PPE as well as a completely covered sand floor. It could reach melting temp but definitely not pouring temps.

    Whats the reasoning for adding 10% aluminum by weight?

    • @MicroOutdoors
      @MicroOutdoors Před 2 měsíci +2

      Each different alloy has a recipe. For aluminum bronze it's roughly 88% copper and 12% aluminum. +/- 3% pending on your raw stock.

    You know instead of burning the 100 bucks. Get movie prop money and burn it. That way you can donate the real 100 bucks to the local dog shelter or some other charity of your choice. I'm just suggesting it is all. Plus you can burn the prop money in an effigy and tell them where you sent the real money. Great video by the way. I'm looking at getting this set up to see if smelting is what I want to get into as another hobby. I work at a gun range so brass isn't a problem to get for me. Coins turned out great too.

    • @MicroMetalCasting
