    A fitting from someone who is not selling their preferred brand would have your best interests at heart. Great facility and video. Great way to start the new year leading into all the new drivers being released

    Great video that. Loved you calling out Gaz for wanting the coloured shafts, and then you were itching to get into the bright pink Autoflex 😂 but I definitely would be doing the same. Look forward to seeing how you get on with it.

    I 100% recommend a driver fitting like this, BUT PLEASE make sure you're in golf shape before you go! I know that sounds dumb but it's not uncommon for a fitting to go longer than an hour if you're trying all the different head/shaft combinations. Because if you've never hit drivers for 1.5-2 hours straight it's exhausting! 😂

      Also, in my opinion, if you have a high handicap and dont regularly break 100, then it is probably a waste of time and money to get fit. You will spend a lot of money for nice clubs with inconsistent shots. Stick with regular flex shafts for men and ladies flex for women.....get lessons, play better, and then think about a proper fitting

      Thank you. But this kind of fitting is only for player that hit the ball every time on the spot. For the average player a standard shaft of today’s quality is more than good enough. 😊😊

    SGGT are second to none. Superb fitting experiences on the times I’ve been for irons and wedges. Also did a driver fitting, nothing came out better than what I was gaming, so no pressure to sell me some thin I didn’t need either. So good 👌🏻

    That was a long video but worth the time spent. What I took away from this clip is that to benefit from exotic/expensive options a player needs to have a high skill level to produce a regularly consistent swing. Without that consistent regularity the differences in successive swings can mask all differences that could be offered by different shafts. In effect I believe I can't swing the club well enough to feel the differences in the shaft options. Really, players need to be near tour standard to benefit from such a service.

    This past September I went for a driver shaft fitting at Accra in Kingston, Ontario Canada. Lucky for me they are 30 minutes from home. Ended changing shafts in both my driver and 3 fairway, kept my club heads. Eight to ten yards distance for both clubs and much better dispersion. Two weeks later another fitting for my irons switched from stiff steel shafts to regular graphite Accra shafts. Again distance gains but better ball flight and dispersion. Rather than new clubs I switched up shafts spent significantly less money and now feel I am getting the most out of the clubs I have been playing for a few years now. Money well spent.😊

    I’ve been fitted for 2 sets of irons and a driver at SGGT over the years at their fitting Centres around Edinburgh. Always a great experience. One thing I really like is you’re not stuck with the manufacturers fitting carts, you can have any head on any shaft, with any grip. My clubs are all totally unique and tailored for me, I even have more tape under my right hand and a tiny amount of extra weight in the heads of my irons.

    James that was a really good and interesting video. Really shows how much things have come on for the average golfer. Just viewed the Auto flex shaft for its price and note that 1 iron shaft was more than my new 2nd hand irons (let's not go to the driver shaft cost). If you do read this might be worth considering a video for your lovely irons that you currently use. Might be worth another video using off the shelf irons and different shaft inserted in them to see the differences. If you want more content video ideas give me a shout 😂. Keep it up James.

    @bosullivan5462 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Thanks James. I think its important when you get a fitting that the golfer talks up to the fitter and says what feels right etc. If you are hitting good shots it could be just time to stop and pick the shaft! Otherwise you risk messing too much and getting confused.. Also beware picking the last shaft you try as you are warmed up and probably walloping it at that stage!!

    Would love to see a series on those who get “fitted “ with pre and post fitting results. Not just a few strikes in a simulator or a round or less on the course.
    But pre-first how they did the year prior to fitting. Then for a year after the fitting with the “matched for the individual’s head and shaft optimization “ actual use.
    That’s the only way to also eliminate some component of placebo effect.

    • @Iamwrongbut
      @Iamwrongbut Před 6 měsíci

  • @WilliamWright-hf8ob
    @WilliamWright-hf8ob Před 6 měsíci +3

    Hmmm Autoflex launching a too high and spinning too much but the same distance , I am surprised the fitter did not lower the loft which would have helped both of these issues and addressed the swing weight as Autoflex straight from their sight have a chart which shows the proper swing weight for each shaft , mine wanted a D0 D1 SW , that TSR is factory D3 - D4 which could cause a droop issue that heavy , it can be a real beast once its tuned in !!! I love mine !!! not for everyone seems to work better for smoother transitions. Hey James order a few lighter head weights and give yours another try !! it also took a few rounds to get used to the lighter feel, good luck !!!

    Hi James, I really enjoyed this video and as such am considering booking a driver fitting there. I also currently use the Hzrdus smoke black 6.0 shaft and carry the ball between 245-250 yards with my average spin of 1900 RPM. After listening to both you and Lawrence I wondered if switching to a slightly higher spinning shaft with a softer tip may help. I am currently shooting rounds of 76/77. Would a fitting help? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    As an owner of an AutoFlex X shaft (not currently using) I recognised the similarities to what you were getting. Would have liked to him try you in a lower spinning or lofted head just to see if you could have dropped spin and descent and gain some more roll out yards. Would also like to see some form of alignment on the mat just to get a better perspective on target. Also, looking at your swing it seemed clear that the old shaft wasn't ideal for you.

    I was so interested in this as I’ve always had a keen interest in golf equipment/fitting and the tech side of the business. Unfortunately, James, you constantly interrupted the fitter. Having posed an interesting question, he tried to give a scientific and practical answer, but was always stopped halfway by you making a statement about YOUR game. He was so polite and fascinating- shame your inability to listen, stopped us from hearing the full analysis. It was as if it didn’t matter what he thought was best, you knew what was best and that was that……..shame.

    Problem with alot of ppl, me included, is not having a consistent swing. What might work best for a certain swing speed at the beginning of the round may not be as good when you've been playing for 4 hours and just want to get home.

      Gary didn't just change the shaft. He got his swing weight dialed in, too. I didn't see any checking or tinkering with the swing weight directly in this video.

    Curious to know what adapter they are using to fit each head.

      We have a universal adapter so we can put everything into everything it’s the best way to compare heads and shafts

    I may have missed this. Did they mention the price of any of the shafts?

  • @FullContactDrummer

    Funny there is so much about puring the shaft. I've seen three videos on CZcams where pros can't tell the difference or determine which is pured and which isn't.

    always supprised that fitters never try different grip sizes to see if that makes a differance great look into a proper fitting

    Why did you not try to change the weights and the loft in the triple diamond?? It was clearly setup for low spin bombs!!!

      Could have been an option but we were testing shafts for maxing out. Current set up could have given improved results on set up but we did talk about the later stages of the round and wanting to work the ball a bit more

  • @pauloliver8803
    @pauloliver8803 Před 5 měsíci

    ‘Every shaft in here has been pured’ fitter later states ‘You can’t pure this shaft’ when referring to the TPT!
    Hmmm so why has it got a Pured sticker on all the TPT range? Hope you aren’t misleading customers into charging them £30 for it to be pured when it can’t be or is not required!
    Anyway, still looks a top class set up but chubs will have a new driver/shaft combo in a few months again! Leopard never changes its spots!
