    American football features highly specialized player positions, each with distinct roles and responsibilities tailored to their position. This specialization necessitates a deep understanding of tactics, techniques, and unique physical demands. Conversely, rugby league requires players to possess a broader skill set, involving both attacking and defensive responsibilities throughout the game.
    For instance, in the case of Mailata, a left tackle's primary duty is to protect the quarterback from opposing defenders seeking to sack him. This role demands exceptional strength, agility, and blocking technique. In contrast, positions like quarterback or wide receiver primarily focus on offensive playmaking, with minimal involvement in defense. It would require approximately three rugby league teams, including reserves, to match the personnel of a single NFL team.
    In rugby league, players are expected to contribute to both offense and defense continuously. For example, a prop forward may be tasked with making strong ball carries while also executing solid tackles to halt opposing players. This requires a high level of endurance, physicality, and adaptability to switch seamlessly between offensive and defensive roles.
    While both sports demand significant physicality and skill, they differ in gameplay and player roles. NFL players who argue that American football is tougher often cite the intensity and specialization required for defensive positions. On the other hand, rugby league players emphasize the endurance and versatility needed to excel in a sport where players are consistently engaged in both attacking and defensive plays.

      what you mean match their personnel our best rugby league players are smart also for our game.. bring a NFL player to the NRL he would struggle a quarterback wouldn't last playing our halfback position and the pressure and hits they get Johnathan Thurston got hell but still played to the best he can... a NFL player wouldn't make 15 tackles like a Cam McInnes who makes up to 80 tackles in 1 game with proper technique and running hard at him like a bullock some players.. Look I no he would be slow and lumpy to play our game but he's purpose built for the position he plays and his role doesn't include run 100meters to score a touch down but in all honesty we need people like him raving about our game because as it stands the only people who don't have a clue are the people paying for the tickets. The yanks need and I say this with all respect but are oblivious to any sport around the world other than there's I mean who calls the baseball 'the world series!' When not one other team is from another country is playing League is the best game in the world in my opinion but to tell a country that makes no attempt to understand that our game is very different to 'rugby ' is going to take a very big task. Different games. NFL are bigger/stronger/faster exactly because they have to specialise and be absolutely elite at their role. Rugby has better all round flexibility and cardio/stamina. Football is mostly hard because of all the learning. You spend just as long watching tape on your opponent and on yourself to work out what you need to do to be better as well as memorisng a playbook and being able to recall it all when your QB shouts out a few code-phrases and know what it all means.
      It's like trying to say which is better between Formula 1 & Rallycross.

    • @Sonikgav
      @Sonikgav Před 6 měsíci

      @@cerberus2654 Not without losing something else. NFL players couldn't just do Cardio for a month and suddenly do what they do for 40min. They lose a step of explosivity, they lose sose some of their top speed, muscle mass etc.
      Although its a different 'sport' its a good example of the disciplines mixing, if you look over at the WWE, they used to run a combine for their new talent. All the explosive records are held by former football players, but the long distance/endurance disciplines are held by Australians/English former Rugby players despite the fact that their training and workouts have become similar.
