I love that you pointed out that all dogs are different and have different personalities. My mini dachshund Roxy was difficult the first month or so at night like Stella, but my other mini dachshund Moose slept through the entire night in his crate without accidents or whining from the very first night. Dachshunds are just so great! 💕
Yes! Training and how you raise them definitely makes an impact but a lot of their personalities they're just born with
My family is down for getting a litter in November. They were just born yesterday. I’ve taken SOOOOO many notes from this video and others. As in how to hold the puppy, what treats and food are the best, leashes,collars, etc. We don’t know what color we are gonna get ours in or their coat. We’ve done lost of research and prepared. The woman trains them before giving them and potty trains them. We’re ready for the personality and the obstacles of training. Btw, Stella is a lovely little angel!
I have watched this video & your crate training video soooo many times. You're right when you say that they can be stubborn & have their own personalities no matter how prepared you are. Marshall is on his 3 night home. He does not love his crate yet, but no matter how much he cries (or screams) I know it will be worth it. Already nights are getting better. During the day is still a challenge, but I will not give up. Thanks again for all the help. By the way, I love the binder idea!!

In my lifetime I have owned four Doxies. My.first was a Doxle/Cocker Spaniel, then a black and tan purebred, then a brown Doxle/Lab, and currently I have Doxle( Doxle Beagle)

When my long hair dachshund Zeke was a puppy he drove me to tears! He was so active and so stubborn. He broke out of his crate at 11 weeks old! However, he was a great sleeper. From the first night he slept all the way through. Good luck with Stella! She's a cutie!
OOoh, I have a red border collie named Zeke! He is super-obedient but still awesome at getting up to mischief.

I inherited my dachsund Barney from my dad when dad got sick and passed away. He's my baby. Thankfully, he was over a year old when he became my dog so he was already bathroom trained (he uses pads, because it was just easier for my dad, who was elderly). That turned out to be perfect for me because I have to work away from home full-time, so he can go when he needs to and I don't have to rush home if I have to stop to do an errand. Re training, I am not a fan of Cesar Milan's machisimo and rough techniques, and prefer Victoria Stilwell.
I love Victoria Stilwell! It’s Me or the Dog is one of my favorite shows (especially the older episodes).

Very well done video, I know how much work a puppy is and that its important to know what you are getting into before getting one. I have a doxie who is 2 and a half, he’s a cutie and we love him to death but he’s been a handful until recently so patience is a MUST . Ratting and scent detection are great sports for doxies, but because of the stubborn streak its a hit or miss when working with them....thank goodness they are highly food motivated. Keep up the good work.

I read that I should let my mini dachshund out throughout the night but when I tried to get him up he whined because he didn't want to go out. I have never had to let him out during the night and he quit whining throughout the night after the second day. Maybe I got lucky but he is surprisingly good (and also super clingy so as long as he is at my hip he is content)

to solve that problem get another mini dachshund. me and my wife have 2 mini long hair dapple dachshund and at night we imminently notice no barking, they play together and dont feel stress from lonesomeness. good luck

I just want to disagree with not telling her off when she chewed your microphone. Telling them bad dog and then just ignoring them shows that you are upset with that behaviour. You don’t have to hurt them to show them you are unhappy. Both of my dachshunds I am confident to leave anywhere with anything as I know that they will do there best to not do anything that would displease me.
Doesn’t sound like that much complaining just you being brutally honest. For me this just seems like a ton of work.

My 4 month old pup has a lot of toys and blankets to chew on, she really likes chewing fabric. She is not distructive, but she plays súper rough, I saw her playing with her brother and it was play fight. And now she wants to play like that with me. She is awesome, but needs excersice. Hopefully she'll calm down.
The more exersize they get the more calm they get!
@@HollyObee yes she finally was cleared by the vet to go outside on walks. She walkes10 minutes and she was so tired, not sure why she does zoomies around the house all the time. Her mood definetly improved. Thanks for the tip!

No i don'g think so, but they need a lot of health care since they can suffer from Back injury cuz of their long figure.
Some don’t like other types of dogs. So socializing is important as puppy, but will still hate other dogs unless they grow up with them.
I have noticed when the Alpha female is eating, the other doxies need to stay away from her. She gets real vicious and will hurt the other dogs. She attacks them. Please keep the other dogs way from the alpha so no one gets hurt. Thank you.
😷🐾Sweet potatoes can cause a dog to form crystals in their bladder Which then turn into STONES. So beware of this, it’s so heartbreaking to know that hearing that they have a UTI again-will just break your heart knowing that The food you thought was to be totally healthy making them totally sick. Bless you all and I hope this helps you to keep your puppy safe through your whole life without any illnes. We were advised when she was a puppy by the vet to switch to sweet potatoes instead of wheat because of the gluten-But we never heard anything about it forming Crystals.Some angels pick fur instead of wings. Let's see--Trouble maker, stubborn, expensive. Yep that's a dachshund. We've had four standards (not miniatures) over the past 25 years--I tell people that they should never get a dachshund (unless they grew up with them), but that I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
P.s. there's a youtube video that explains why dachshunds don't win dog shows--that is worth watching if you can find it.

Yes, this is true. Watch the puppy's teeth! They can really hurt. They don't understand how their teeth hurt humans. Or if they jump on you, their nails are razor sharp.
