Niles is literally all of us in this scene.

$200,000 dollars twenty years ago😳
I did!!! Went thru a roll of tissue!!!! Lol
It was actually 800,000 😂
I felt that 🥲
I love how Maggie said “parents,” Fran referring to her as her “daughter” and Max saying Fran should act a little bit more like a mother than a sister.
That's just Fran.
Fran just loved those kids and they loved her!
If she were doing so, she wouldnt be Fran/ She would be any regular strict someone meh
She adopted them on the “prenup agreement” episode but they always had a sister like relationship since the beginning of the show
They are married, so they are both her parents. They is the way it works.
Niles is me every time I think about the money some 18 year old youtubers make for just existing....
@Drew Taylor I can’t tell if this is sarcastic or not

@@monique9636 it’s true. But it’s also a lot of luck. You get one thing go viral... in a good way.. either for a dance or a look or even just smiling, you’re it... you make millions just for existing. The real work comes AFTER. To sustain that popularity and sponsorships. I’m sure it’s tough on a lot of the young people but they will NEVER have to worry about putting food on the table.
This the new way of the era.
Do you have to be young in order to succeed ??? 😎😎

"Oh nothing an additional $790,000 a year couldn't fix"
Dang, Niles is making minimum wage!? That's terrible, Maxwell... He's supposed to be your friend.
Even butler in a upper class home in Guatemala makes at least 60 thousand a year, plus free food and living.
I hardly believe he would make so little money
@@goldilox369 the minimum wage in nyc was $4.25 in 1999 (the time this episode aired) which means niles was making around $4.81 an hour for all the work he did, assuming he worked 40 hours a week and no more/no less. damn.
Well, he did get free housing in the Upper East Side, plus free food.

I didn’t like how rush this storyline was for Maggie but I still loved the writing of it. The Nanny was always spot on with its humor!
Edit: omg this is probably the most likes a comment of mine has ever got. Thanks fam! 😬
I think they rushed the storyline because that episode was part of the last season of the series. Usually when that happens, the majority of tv shows speed everything up in order to wrap things up for the series finale.
@@kristinbagani2811 Yeah, the show expected to have one more season after the sixth. But when they found out that CBS was canceling it, they had to rush a lot of storylines and scrap a few others to tie things up.
@@PintheDog There were a bunch of episodes that were written for season 6, but they were never taped. Also, why did they air the series finale before the "burn out" episodes of June 1999? (Yetta's Letters, The Baby Shower, Maggie's Wedding, and The Dummy Twins)
It was their last season, so it kinda had to be rushed. Similar to Fran and Maxwell's wedding/engagement. Notice how they didn't really "date". They went on a few dates before he proposed (granted they've been in love for years)
Nothing felt rushed to me.
"Ms. Bouvier??!" 😆
I'm sorry obviously you must have me confused with someoneelse Mic-... hael.
Niles missed that golden opportunity
🤣
When maggie introduces fran and max as her "parents" thats so cute shes really completely considers fran her mother :')
edit: hey guys! i know fran legally adopted them, i was just pointing out that it was really sweet that maggie introduced them both as her parents. there are alot of instances where parents remarry and the step children still dont consider the new mother/father their real parent even if they adopted them so this just shows how much the kids really loved fran! thats what made this show so great
Well she even act like a mother. Being happy that her daughter brought home Jewish boy. And he earns well and he looks good. Lol she is such a mom.
She defended Fran all the time! When Fran's relatives insulted her, she called one of them a "big green cow", she stood up for Fran to her grandparents as well. I loved their relationship.
Fran legally adopted Maggie, Brighton, and Grace in a previous episode. It was the episode where Sara’s parents came to visit and tried to stop her from doing so. Even before they got married Maxwell presented Fran with adoption papers after they argued about their prenup which Maxwell tore up. Even so Fran basically raised the three of them after Sara died.
And let’s not Forget she literally adopted all 3 of them she is legally their mother now and B calls her mom on more then one occasion 🥰🥰
Right
Fran being excited her daughter met a nice Jewish boy is so cute.

@@joannacrickenberger7627 exactly, and he couldn’t stop her at all lol
The best moment was that Maggie said, “my parents”. Wish all “step” children and “step” parents could be this loving and open towards each other
Some are, a friend of mine from school changed his surname to his step dad's when he turned 18 and had called him dad most of his life. He called his biological father 'my ex-dad'
When I refer to my mom and my stepdad I say my parents. I have both my parents in my life but my stepdad is still my parent since he had a hand in raising my sister and I
Agreed! It’s also why songs like “He Didn’t Have To Be” and “One Man’s Gold” make me cry.
You forgot to mention this scene 3:01.
@Logia dude Except they never did judge. They specifically said "wish" ☺ Never said should nor demeaned reasons why that doesn't always happen. I should hope we all wish parents are deserving of their step children’s love and vise versa!
I love how much the children change and grow throughout the series. Maggie comes out more from her shell (I definitely think pink is her favorite color) and starts dressing more like the times, Grace starts dressing and acting like Fran, and Brighton gets along a lot better with his dad and siblings and respects them much more, even dressing up more like his dad.

The Nanny was so good. Miss shows like this
Maggie was so gorgeous and the 90s dresses were a dream on her
While Niles reactions are hilarious, it’s unlikely he made such a small amount. “Nothing another $790,000 a year wouldn’t fix” implies he only makes $10,000 a year. Trained butlers make anywhere between $100,000 and $200,000 a year. In a city like New York it can be even more.
this was a few decades ago, during the nineties and it even ended within the same decade, in the nineties
@@georginataylor3802 even then it was much more. The x-mas bonus itself is 4 figures and he has almost no expenses.
Damn I should’ve been a butler, but I recently looked it up and the average salaries in the Us is between 45K (North Carolina) to 75K(New York) a year. Certainly not between 100K and 200K. Either way, better than whatever I got.
Yeah I feel Niles are over exaggerating but you could still relate to him knowing how much Michael was making.
Your numbers are way off. Most butlers do not make 100k to 200k a year. The average is just over 71k in New York but since this is the 90s it probably less than that.
There are times to be supportive and times to be iron clad with kids, Fran knew the line... Maxwell too often forgot it is a balancing act.

Niles, I’m totally with ya buddy.
My mom always said “if the children like you, your not doing a great job”. 😂😂makes sense now
Idk, my mum and I get on great, always have. It's more a matter of communication. You're supposed to like your family. Sure, there's ups and downs, but that goes for everything. If the kids like you, it's because you're making the effort to understand them and talk to them like they're people, not just tell them what to do and expect it done We've always had an unspoken rule that if you wouldn't treat another adult that way, you don't treat a child that way, because kids are people who haven't been on earth as long as you have and they know less. To me, it makes no sense why people expect their kids to hate them. Fran makes the effort with the kids, and Maxwell doesn't see the point in making the effort. The kids go to Fran with problems because they know she'll talk to them instead of telling them what to do. If you never lose sight of what it was like to be a child yourself and treat kids as respectfully as you'd have wanted to be treated, it's totally possible to do a great job raising them and be liked by your kids xxx
I like the part in this episode when Maxwell chases Fran around the house when they find out that Maggie wants to move in with her boyfriend. Please upload this scene!

I don’t understand these types of families who ask personal questions like “what does your father do?” Or “what do you have to fall back on?” I find these types of questions rude to ask when meeting someone for the first time.
In my culture, parents ask the man that when he intends on marrying their daughter.
Deal with it.
People who were raised worth a damn understand this question......
I mean, I kinda get it. They just want to be sure if their children, in case that’s who their child is going to marry, is going to be taken care of properly and won’t have to worry about any financial situation.
Asking what someone's father does for a living is not personal. It's basic small talk. The what you have to fall back on is specific interviewing questions for a man involved with your daughter.
