    I am a happy owner of an Explore v2 30l. Among other things, I chose a SHIMODA backpack because of Ian's videos. These videos show the products in REAL use. No hocus-pocus, no cinematic bullshit... To me, this kind of presentation is much more convincing than someone sitting at a table in a room, showing things that have apparently never been used. In these videos, we can hear directly from the designer why things are the way they are and we can see how much thought and ideas are put into the design. Although, as a landscape photographer I prefer the Explore/Action line, but the new Urban Explore backpacks looks just as practical and cool as those previous series and will surely bring many more satisfied users for the brand! Thanks Ian and keep up the good work!

    Ian, i've been just sort of lurking looking at your videos since you started years ago. I must say that this Field Trip feels so much more organic in that I really felt like I was brought along for your photoshoot (vs just demonstrating gear). The step up in the narrative is duly noted Sir. Love it and keep it going Brother. Shimoda X50 & Carry On Roller Owner

    Thanks, Ian. Good to see the Urban Explorer out in rainy weather. I also appreciate seeing that even excellent photographers have days when their plans get washed out. The more I see the new boa color out in the wild the more glad I am that I chose that color for the 25L I selected when I signed on to the Kickstarter.

      I didn't show it in the video but the Narai-juku scene was constant rain, I bought an umbrella near the end because my camera was getting to wet, bag was fine I wasn't able to shoot much video do to the Pocket 3 having no lens protection from rain. What I did shoot was with a 700-200 and it's rain protective hood. Everytime I get the new Urban bag in the rain I'm pleasently surprised by it's resistance. For some reason it's been a lot!

    A video which neatly encapsulates the frustrations of the landscape photographer when the weather decides to play havoc with our meticulous planning. Regardless, it's another beautifully put together video and ,as always, a joy to watch. Look forward to the next one, thank you.

    My Nomatic McKinnon backpack died 3 days ago (zipper broke), just order the Shimoda URBAN 25L yesterday... just need to find a solution to bridge until february. Pretty impressive how a simple zipper can be a massive problem for a full time traveler. Realizing that a few days are just ruined until I find an alternative. Being on the road since 2016, I admit that all my gear are in quite heavy usage, so I hope that the Shimoda solution will be the one. I have a very good feeling tho :-) Just came back from Japan 3 weeks ago, miss it like crazy and hope to be there asap for the next adventure and maybe if I could have the honor, get some time for a chat with Ian. Thx for your great content and what you guys provide to us photographers/videographers,
    Very happy for you that the Kickstarter campaing started so good yesterday!!! have a fantastic week and keep up the great vibes

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  Před 8 měsíci +3

      Thank you. One thing many people over look is that zippers are mechanical component on a bag. They need maintenance, if they are not taken care of they will seize and eventually fail in some form. Dirt and other elements will get in the track and slowly start to destroy it. Much worse is sweat and the salt we produce. Visually it's a slow process but people need to maintain zippers. Clean and lube them on a regular schedule reflective of often they use the bag and how. It's also a 3rd party item. Not sure what the others use but YKK zippers are as good as they come. 9/10 times it's a lack of maintenance that kills them. Which inevitably falls on the user. The other thing is that they are usually not replaceable or fixable. So take care of them. Hope that makes sense and helps for the future.

    I'm thinking of backing either the 25 or the 30 and I'm wondering how exact are the dimensions of the core unit?
    My d7200 and 80-400g measures at just under 11", larger than the 10.6 in internal height of the 25L core unit. Would it fit with some coaxing? I would really like to use the smallest bag I can get away with that'll hold the camera with that lens attached and 1-2 others.

    • @peterwaisnor2241
      @peterwaisnor2241 Před 4 měsíci

      You could check with B&H in New York. They ship all over the world. That being said, one reason we do not offer international shipping from the US is that the shipping prices are extremely high. It might cost $150 -$200 to ship to Singapore. It seemed unreasonable to us, so we did not set it up.

Anyway, you are the brand, i‘m just a disappointed potential customer. By the way, I own a E30 V2. I don’t see any improvment in practical use of side access in this Urban series.
