    I find that I would prefer the sternum strap be a little shorter. I can’t quite get the shoulder straps pulled in as close as I like. It’s the half of the sternum strap that is the fixed length that is just too long for my liking. I’ve considered folding it onto itself a bit and stitching it.

      If you look at the straps there are minimums required for the straps based on how they are is assembled and the components used. In this case there are 5-6 spots that demand their own minimum space and limit how much we can tighten it People with smaller chests (like myself) may find it looser than people with a broader torso. Unfortunately I can't always make it the way I want - in a way that works perfectly for everyone. With Explore or Action X, the pockets also play a role in the fit, and choosing a different strap (like the Simple) will help some people. Also things like needing to fit a iphone 15 pro max with case - make the straps wider and in-turn, sternum area smaller. There are lot of things to consider that effect the fit.

Once it finally breaks the bag will be unusable as the front strap is a must given the weight I carry.

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns Před 11 dny

      Hi, the belt buckle is easily replaced if it broken. IMO one of the worst places to use a metal buckle is the waist unless required for safety. The belt swings too freely with the extra weight and can scratch/gauge easily, as its stepped on often when your packs on the ground. I wanted to leave a comment for men considering getting these straps. I use the explore v2 25L I am 6'1", lean and leggy. I don't love the stock straps so I picked these up. In my opinion the comfort is quite good. I carry a 6D w/ 17-40, along with a 24-105. I also keep a 27oz kleen kantern in the top portion. With all this I am comfortable for 2-3 hours walking about car shows with no issues. I also used these in combination with the waist strap when I used a hydration bladder and would be walking extended distances with everything in bag (usually my camera is in hand once I get to location). Without the sternum strap clipped they sit fairly wide on the shoulders but not to the point of discomfort for me. I did remove the top sternum strap because I didn't need two. They slid off the top without damage to anything and could probably be reattached with patience if needed. I would appreciate it if they made a simple strap specifically for men, but I'm quite happy so far. I prefer having less bulk on my body (cooler in warm weather) and also from an aesthetic point of view they are more streamlined. If I had to compare them to hiking bag straps they fit more like a universal bag (Gregory Nano) does. If you read this Ian, my vote would be to base a men's simple strap off the fit of the Osprey Stratos. Hope this helps someone decide.

    Just curious - why the switch to thicker dividers in the Urban explore? Would the other core unit dividers save space or weight? Obviously a very good problem to have, but I sometimes feel like the Urban explore is a little more padded/protective than I'd need on many city trips. I would be OK shedding a little bit of that for some weight savings or extra space in the bag.

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns Před 23 dny

      @@_mball_ If we compare our two divider styles, they both start the same thickness but one is EVA (heavier) and compressed through compression molding. The Urban divider starts out the same thickness but softer, EPE and not compressed. It tends to snuggle up and around the gear in tighter fits. More like a pillow. Performance wise - IMO the Urban ones are more user friendly and offer the same protection - at least I cannot measure a significant difference when we consider the complete Core Unit and backpack (aside from knowing EVA is a higher density). Finally, other than a simply nice camera bag, our urban line was also created to be a friendly retail product…. IMO these dividers suit that ‘product brief’ better.

      It would be better to offer a your use case scenario, as the strap do not come with a specific weight limit.

      @@ShimodaDesignsno worries! I'm rigging up a strap to help support my 10 lb handheld rig on long shooting days. These straps are cool and a possible option!

    Hello! Thinking about buying the 30l version but not quite sure if I can fit my gear, it's a Sony a7r5 with 16-35/2.8, 24-105/4, 70-200/2.8gm2, Zeiss sonar 50/1.8 and 90mm Sony macro lenses.

    How the hell do you get it into the Action X50 v2? Would love to see a move about it (no taper like the large - etc.)

    It’s pity that it can’t keep side access function if put standalone small mirrorless core unit into 30L UE to fit more casual scenario.

    Thank you. Finally somebody has the same "affliction" as me. I find that anytime I do a single strap - either backpack or messenger bag - it just slides off my left shoulder. Near as I can tell my right shoulder (predominate hand) rides a little higher and bags stay in place.

    Excellent updates all around. I appreciate the new yellow colour. Like you said, it pops but doesn't look out of place in the wild. Please consider offering more webbing strap options for people to mix and match. Reflective Silver, Reflective Orange, Shimoda Teal, and the new Yellow straps would all look great with the Black and Army backpacks.

      Hi thank you. We do not have plans for reflective versions but will have our other colors out in a bit. I will look in to the reflective webbing though. I stay away from the reflective items on our bags as they can spoil a moment when keeping a low profile, but having them removable on Explore, would work. Thanks for posting.
